cleanliness and location, good for the cost
lazy front office staff that cared more about using the lobby tv loudly for her personal soap operas than keeping the brkfst area clean or service.
Staff was awesome
Out dated and room not clean. Items from last guest found in room. Beds were horribly uncomfortable.
Room was comfortable
Loud people around our room
Close to attractions
Old needs updating
This hotel was absolutely disgusting. It was dirty & had a terrible smell. My husband and I used the room to shower (we floated the river so showering was a must). After showering we made the 2 1/2 hour trip back home so we didn't have to sleep in the stained sheets. It was absolutely horrible.
Movie channel, hot breakfast, blow dryer in room,
drywalls need to be fix and paint bad odor no milk for breasfast
Room small and cramp, no closet, old t.v., and room just didn't look or smell clean and flesh. Marvin -Grandview
The room was dirty under the beds. We had to flush the toilet like 3 times to get it clean. The manager refused to give more towels n blankets to a couple of ppl because hi didnt have any more but I could see them.
The room was clean, but dingy. Stains on the carpets from the stairs, all the way into the rooms. Stains on the coverlet, good thing I pack my own bedding. The shower and bathroom area were clean, but outdated. It's a good spot for people who are just looking for a place to crash. The couple who run it are super friendly, and the breakfast selection isn't shabby.
Needs a good deep clean to the carpets and updated bedding-- no murder scene, please!
Very cooperative staff
A bit expensive for the Saturdday night..
Pictures online of the hotel were deceiving. Holes in door and bathroom old. Way overpriced for what you get.
location and bed was comfortable
The lobby was dark and depressing. The washing machine and dryer is in full view in the lobby. It smelled like old smoke. Our sink did not drain. Our commode did not flush. The breakfast bar ran out of coffee and cereal. Sugar free syrup not available for diabetics and people watching their sugar intake.
Will never stay at another Howard Johnson! Room was dirty!
Most of the staff was very helpful and location was good.
Looks like remodelling has started and left incomplete. One of the male staff members in the evening was very difficult and witnessed run-ins with multiple guests.
I was so upset that I spent my money here. Usually 125 a night can get me a great, comfortable hotel. The pictures online were not bad but they looked NOTHING like the rooms we stayed in. Everything had a musty odor. The cleaning service never came to our room and obviously don't ever do a good job because we found shoes, clothing and garbage from people who have stayed in there before. I looked in the air conditioner and what looked like mold was actually chunks of deodorant to try and help the smell? It was in both rooms we rented. I can not believe they have the nerve to charge what they do for these rooms. I was told that I would be given a military discount because all of the people I went on this trip with are active duty military and when we got to the hotel the man at the desk stumbled on his words "We would, but we can't since we have given out too many discounts this weekend." I have stayed in 60 dollar motels that were more comfortable than this hotel. When asking for another towel because we were only given two the man at the desk seemed very annoyed. Seems like management is very cheap. First and LAST time I will be spending my hard earned money at a Howard Johnson hotel.
My niece and I both rented rooms from here on the same weekend and if all the other hotels in the area were not booked we would have left. Same money I would pay for a nice clean hotel and we got horrible rooms that smelled and there was deodorant in BOTH of our air conditioners, maybe for "air fresheners." Dirty, dingy, and it was obvious that it is ran very cheaply. When my niece who is active duty army asks if they honored a military discount the man at the desk replies "yes, but sorry we have already given out too many discounts for the weekend." For the price it was an absolute joke and we were all very uncomfortable. We will never be staying at a Howard Johnson ever again.
staff were friendly, good location
We loved how the hotel was in the middle of everything. There were plenty of places to eat, extremely close to the Comal river, and had easy access to the highway. We stayed in new braunfels mostly for the river but drove out to Austin and San Antonio to go out to the bars. The breakfast that is offered is great too, they had warm bisquits, waffles, cereal, and eggs. Even though the hotel was outdated we would definitely stay there again.
The pool is too small and dirty. The hotel rooms are a bit outdated and the there were stains on the cover that look like blood.
I liked that it was close to the freeway.
It was very dirty. There were prostitutes outside. There was a loud dog in the next room.
Breakfast was good staff very nice
Carpet was wet!! Short on towels
Could use remodeling ,update
