Location is great for a night stay and fly further. Drive in our case. Decent staff, warm room, fair breakfast.
I liked the room decor, the lighting in the bathroom and room was perfect. Nice and bright. If
The enterance of the bulding had trash. The bathroom/ shower was not clean, there was a used soap in the shower dish. The room need to be vacuumed. I could not controle the air conditioning unit. The panel was not working. It just blow warm air all night. To top it off I was told by a staff member when asked, about the used sope in my bathtub. They don't clean the rooms every day. I will never stay ther again. I can go on and on. But I wouldn't change the fact that my stay was not good.
I really like the price and the overall facility.
I did not like the parking accommodation, nor the odor in the room when I first entered.
staff was helpful, room was descent, lots of room in breakfast area
the unclean bathroom, the location next to train station. the limited parking
Great access to restaurants, shoping, airport and main roads. I also loved the shower and helpful staff.
- Not having access to microwave in the room - Noisy trains - complimentary breakfast ended too early, extend to 10 or 11.
Staff was ok and the location was good for the purpose of our stay
Sheets and blankets were dirty and stained. The room was small. The air did not work properly. The bathroom did not look like it was fully cleaned either and you can hear everyone in hallways and rooms.
Stained bed sheets Bathroom had hair on the shower wall Very dusty, sneezed most of the night. Street parking
I stayed at the Howard Johnson from Aug 15/14-Aug 22/14 Overall the stay was good. We had a double room (non smoking) The room itself was pretty clean. The beds were a decent size as there were 4 of us in the room. The continental breakfast was decent, (food included: sausages, eggs, waffles, bagels, cream cheese, other pastries and tea, coffee, sunny-D and ice tea. The staff were friendly and helpful. I have family who live near by in Jamaica, Queens, so the location was convenient. Overall it was a good stay.
The only negatives; The bathroom could be cleaned more thoroughly.
Close to public transportation and airport. No hotel shuttle but I used to live in ny so public trans is not a problem for me. Allowed me to check out late for a few extra dollars.
The hair...on the bed, twice. If cleaners have long hair tie it up. There was some dead leaves..wood chips? On the bathroom floor for the 2 days I stayed. .They never cleaned around the toilet bolts on the floor. Gross! And there was a small amount of poop on the seat..in all fairness my young son had the runs and ran in the bathroom as soon as we got there...I Pray it was from him...walls paper thin..heard the couple next door.!!
Not much really.... a deserted area that doesn't incite any excitement whatsoever. Like a lot of websites, the one for this establishment tends to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Doesn't come recommended unless you're desperate.
No off street parking for rental cars, surly reception staff, poor supply of bathroom linen. Whilst relatively close to the airtrain, walking is not an option with a heavy bag & taxi's would not even consider this fare. A direct trip to the airport is the only answer.
Close proximity to airtrain Helpful staff Room was clean Good quality TV Breakfast included
easily accessible from the airport, friendly staff, breakfast was very very basic (had bagels and jam, I was happy), price ok, not a hotel you want to stay in for a holiday, but for a night or so during transit it's ok.
a little walk from train, better to take taxi from airport if traveling with lots of luggage
Friendly staff!!! The rooms were very clean and organized nicely.
The location of the hotel was across the Long Island train Station.
Room is decent Wifi was pretty good
Fire Alarm went off at 3am and continued for two hours. The incompetent and rude staff, could not figure out how to turn it off and ignored all incoming calls from guests. It continued to siren for hours while they were on the phone with someone. An apology was not offered, instead, one of the attendants kept yelling "what the hell do you expect us to do!" - umm I expect you to be nice to your guests and do everything possible to address the situation.
The proximity to JFK
The room was dirty, the bed had stains on the sheets, no business center, no airport shuttle, no manager
Everything. How this property could get such a high ranking is beyond me. The location is in a very sketchy neighborhood with no parking except on the street. No thanks. This is the first time we've had a problem with a booking.com property or ranking. We were charged $130 for not staying there, because the property was grossly misrepresented, and we are not happy. An awful experience. Just awful.
Location convenient to mass transportation. Friendly helpful staff, clean, new, refrigerator, breakfast lounge, wifi, cable, air conditioning.
Shortage of parking.
Friendly staff, free breakfast, location
The rooms are small but well set out and the bathroom is good.
Nothing except maybe the girl at the front desk who actually acted like she cared about me and my property.
The hotel because of a misunderstanding because the staff didn't communicate with each other. I came back from a business meeting to my property thrown in a trash bag on the ground. My property and me was treated like trash don't stay here unless you want the same it seems like most of them just don't care about anything but what's playing on the tv in the lobby. They also clean a room like a little child would. The areas that are seen first were clean. They didn't clean corners or behind doors or in the fridge. There was food left in the room which stunk horribly. They didnt get panties that were on the back of the door and the sheets I'm pretty sure they just made the bed and left the old ones on.
Room is nice! Everything good.
Too small room

The location after dark.
The location was an easy 5-minute walk from the Jamaica AirTrain station. Breakfast had decent selection...the bananas were a bit mushy, but I liked the waffle maker.
There was a pair of underwear on the bathroom floor. The fire alarm kept randomly going off for a good half hour. It was already 10 PM - I was glad it wasn't any later since I had an early flight. I went up to the lobby to make sure it was a false alarm, and there was already a crew working to fix it.
At airport not enough people know the difference between the two different Howard johnsons and waited 1 and 1/2 hrs for a shuttle which never came at 11 pm after travelling with no sleep for 26 hrs - hotels responsibility to make the difference clearer for the information people at the airport - also didn't mention how much the hold would be on the credit card for pre- authorisation and only staying for one night thought it would be $50-80 max took out the full night of $175 worth as a pre- authorisation plus the night accommodation !!! Too much and very tough if your on a budget for a holiday .
The helpful, friendly staff
