The custodians were very nice and respectful. If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep and not spend any time in, this is the right place for you.
The people at the front desk weren't the friendliest nor were they the most helpful. The restaurant claims to be unaffiliated with the hotel, and if you're looking for a spoon or larger cup for any reason, be prepared to pay a quarter per utensil (not expensive, but definitely not accommodating).
the rooms where comfy, friendly helpful staff and friendly helpful drivers
sometimes strange stuffy smell coming from old carpet
the location is perfect for visiting the various entertainment events
really - nothing
it was clean
there was no swimming pool
Not much around to do
The only good thing was the service from the hotel to times square. Cleaning staff did a good job.
Front desk staff was not friendly and helpful at all.
Good size room, shuttle into New York,
Limited menu in cafe. No bar or lounge.
Close to the airport
My first shower in the morning the water trickling out of the shower head, I did tell the front desk and they did repair it. They charge $16 a day additional for parking. The restrooms off of the main area were not clean.
The price was very reasonable, much less than other airport hotels in newark.
No facility for breakfist
The facility is very clean
Great bed. I jogged around the parking lot. Took hot baths. Slept nearly 10 hours. (With earplugs)
Snacks and restaurant, standard American diet (sad) = junk food
a nice and comfortable place. easy to get to. You need to pay for parking. extra 15$
Location, spacy, free transfer every half an hour
Dirty walls, old fashioned funiture, not helpful personnel - forgot to wake me up for flight
The people that ran the front desk were absolutely delightful. After being in the car for hours their high energy and welcoming attitudes was so refreshing !! They were super helpful and offered help above and beyond what was asked. A+++ for customer service
The bathroom was not as clean as I would have hoped
Shuttle pick up/drop off at P4 Air Train station - should advise guests of this. Bed was large and comfortable. Breakfast in restaurant was OK.
Very tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Quite dusty and musty in corridors and room.
Daytime receptionist was lovely. Aside from the dirt, the room was quite well appointed.
Nighttime reception. Dirty pillow case and very wrinkled sheets. Dirt in all corners of the room and along the walls. Carpet was not very clean and the bathroom floor was so sticky it made noises when you walked over it.
The free airport shuttle came within promised frequency (I waited like 29 minutes). The room was big, quiet and clean. I had a good sleep. Overall, I find this place extremely price-worthy for being located so close to Newark airport, and within 30 minutes by the ($15) city shuttle to Manhattan. I din't even notice any airplane noise. WiFi worked fine.
Breakfast not included, but the restaurant in the house was all right.
Value for money Room was clean, comfortable, roomy enough. Room had fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Efficient staff. Would stay here again. No comment on food, didn't eat here.
Lumpy, small pillows. Slightly saggy mattress. Airport shuttle does not run exactly on time, (so allow a bit of extra time).
I liked the complimentary 24 hr shuttle bus. The bathroom was spacious and the microwave and refrigerator in room was convenient. The amenities on each floor was a great idea. I utilized the exercise room.
Even though there is a small diner on first floor, there should be a complimentary breakfast served and having a pool wouldn't hurt.
After traversing an insane labrynith of twisted and mangled roads we arrived at a dilapidated building which was either under construction or not yet completed. The front of the store was littered with dangerous discarded lumber nails sticking up, But at least it was 2 o clock in the morning so when we walked up to the front up to the front desk the clerk shrieked at me " I CAN'T CHECK YOU IN RIGHT NOW I AM RUNNING THE NIGHT AUDIT." When he finally agreed to check us in (around 2:45 AM after we had stood in the lobby for 45 minutes waiting for his precious night audit to complete, obviously far more important than a living breathing customer.) he could not connect to our booking.com. reservation. Then he explained that he had to charge us $15 to park in their dangerous sawdust laden parking lot I finally pitched a fit and so he reduced the imaginary parking charge to $10 for no apparent reason other than to shut me up. The drywall in the room was incomplete and the caulk in all of the bathroom fixture was a warm feces brown. I will ACTIVELY notify my friends and business associates to not frequent ANY Howard Johnsons facilities. Shame on You!!!!!
NO BAR MALE STAFF ON RECEPTION UNHELPFULLTOM
The only thing we liked about the hotel was the close proximity to the airport.
The rudeness of other guests allowed to talk very loudly at a very late hour with no respect for other guests. When a wakeup call time was changed we were still called at the original time. The overall design of the building with its dark entrance, low ceilings and small restaurant with poor food choices and dry bread were disapppointing.
