The maintanence staff is rude, they speak in their language while you are in their presence, which I find very rude, especially when you are in an elevator and they keep looking at you.
The beach chairs were never unlocked and ready to be distributed before 10 am, I like to go to the beach as many of us in the hotel did early in the morning. You had to pick up a bath Size towel in a hut by the pool, in which the guy was barely there, as he was cleaning the pool area. He told me once I couldn't have a towel before 9.. That is ridiculous. A few of us waited for a chair for 40 minutes, finally one of the hotel guests, went to ask for one at the hut, and was told, "as soon as he finishes his coffee" he would go unlock the chairs.
This was absurd, and I went myself and got him to get up and give us the service. .It was an inconvenience every morning, and yet they charge you a 13 dollar a day "resort" fee. .I mean please, I've been to amazing resorts, this word should never be associated with this hotel. There is no breakfast what's so ever unless you want to pay a min. Of $6.50 which just includes coffee and 2 slices of bread. .I don't drive, so we had to take a 10 minute cab ride every day to eat.
The hotel is out dated, and the
50 's diner pictures you see on line when you book, are also old, as that whole restaurant is gone, and is just an empty space of checkered floor, totally a waste of space.
This place could be awesome, if the owners would take the time to fix it, revamp it and take a look at their staff..I just needed a place to stay for 3 nights while we visited a sick relative, and that is why I chose it, but I expected the diner to be there, that was the reason, so That we could eat there. The restaurant they do have a was a total rip off, I do want to point out the restaurant is not part of the hotel, but still, a big let down. .
There is so much that can be done to this one amazing hotel.
I felt as if I stepped into 1975 again. I was traveling with my mother who is 80, and she loved it, I guess the decor brought back Good memories.
The concierge Miguel, was the nicest man, he was extremely helpful and attentive, the front desk staff was a 3 out 4 rating in being helpful, by this I mean out of the 4 staff members while I was there, 3 are so nice and a pleasure to speak with, while the 1 that was there when we arrived gave me the impression, I was bothering him. The pool was great, very clean and maintained. The beach was wonderful, but THEN AGAIN, IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN ALL ON ITS OWN.
The beds are great, I slept like baby. The view was the best part of staying there, if you get the ocean view, or the superior suite on the 9 th floor like I did. My sister's King size bed room was very nice, my double was odd, but my mom liked it.
