Broken lamps, no ventilation in bathroom, stained bedspreads and pretty much as loud as it gets. Also a very strange odor.
Cost was great and just a short drive from San Antonio. I plan on staying at that location again. Far better then Motel 6.
Small area for parking.
It was like a home with love and cleanliness that made me feel like a kid at Disney world and I would recommend this facility to ANY and all my friends and family

Noise! Noise! Noise! Not by the guests but by the entire STAFF! (this is a long review and more of a rant, in summary, if you have no choise there are worse hotels, for a 1 night stay. However, if you want to stay more than 1 night I would not do it, I stayed 10 days and it was a nightmare! This hotel is really a motel. The entrances face the I-35. It is a really noisy highway that never stops, that may keep you up at night. Having previous experience with the noise level of I-35. I asked at check-in if they had any rooms in the back opposite to the I-35 so I would be sheltered from the highway noise. I was told there were not. However, since I was staying for 10 days they understood my concern and, I could be placed on the second floor, which had a lobby entrance and the tiny lobby overlooked the check in lobby. This would provide me with the noise shelter I was seeking. However, it was a nightmare. In the check in lobby there is a 42" inch flat screen, and the staff (not guests) like to watch movies REALLY LOUD. As I was checking in, I asked what time they turn down this big screen and was told don't worry, 9 pm it goes off. Well this TV was blasted from 6 am to 1 am. EVERY DAY. When I called downstairs at midnight and asked if they could turn down the TV the clerk said, "What TV? Sir, there is no one staying near you." I said the TV you are currently watching?" There was silence and a pause, then he said OK, and hung up. He SLIGHTLY lowered the volume and continued to watch his Rambo movie till 3 am that night. I mentioned it the check in lady the next morning, and she said, that's not possible. BTW. the TV was being blasted at the same time, she was speaking to me. How close was to the downtairs staff to my room? When I called from my room I could hear there phone ring. I also made a video and I challenge Howard Johnson, to challenge me on this review. If you stay here more than a week.
Hotel was quite, staff was friendly...
The tub had a dirty ring around it. It would hardly drain. There were ants all over the bathroom floor. The person at the desk was rude. Was not pleased at all!!!

I woke up at 3am because I was bitten by something in the bed. I didn't want to get back I'm the bed so we left at 5 am. I called the hotel at the time I was told that the manager would be there. When I told her what happened and I want refund, she hung the phone up in my face!
Location good. Comfortable bed. Big room.
Front desk attendant indifferent when I told her there were red ants in our room. They were hard to see in the carpet and we only found them after they started biting us. We found them the morning we were checking out. Plus nasty carpet and non working fan in the stuffy bathroom. I wont stay here again, no way!
The first time I booked at Howard Johnson I was impressed with what I got for the price. Everything was clean and staff was very friendly. However, the second time I stayed at Howard Johnson, I was disappointed. I asked for a non-smoking room and it was obvious our room had been smoked in many times before. There was apparent damage to the room and the seals on the doors were falling away. The room was clean overall and the appliances worked well. You get what you pay for. Again, the staff was friendly and the room was OK. I would recommend if you're on a budget.

extremely confusing to get to, gps will not help batteries in remote were dead phone wasn't working to call front desk (no sound) so we had to walk to desk only allowed 2 extra towels black flecks in bed sheets paper thin walls outdated microwave, not powerful
That I was given a room upstairs when I'm handicapped. We requested a room for a handicap person the commode was not acceptable. The clerk pretty much said we Had to take it
Beds were rock hard felt like sleeping on a concrete floor would have been more comfortable. The tub had the jacuzzi jets but didn't work and the switch had been taken out. Room was warm when we got there and we had asked for the AC to be on before our arrival time of 8 pm, so of course couldn't go to bed until the room had cooled down. This will be a last resort next time.

Dirty and old --- stepped on live roach in bathroom. Vents and ceilings were moldy and peeling. Should not have a 2 star rating.
I didn't like much about it, and I won't stay here again.
Worst night of sleep, hard beds, like sleeping on a bed of rocks. The towels were dirty. Saw ants on the bathroom floor.
