Staff were great. Beds are comfortable. Nice and clean and quiet. Good locatation for the Monterey peninsula with out the prices!
Can't think of anything. Wait...the ice machine wasn't working for half a day...!
Somewhat quiet Free parking
1. TV was unplugged and when pulling the cord out (and from under dresser) garbage was behind the dresser. 2. The bedside lamp was unplugged and a nasty used tissue was on top of the cord - ewww. 3. We reserved a King, but got a much smaller bed - maybe a pygmy queen? 4. No windows on back side of room - where the ocean is. 5. Locked door out the back of our room that someone with a key could open... 6. Not a lot of channels to choose from on the television 7. Not great TV reception 8. Scratchy sheets 9. Curtains didn't close all the way, so the brightly lit corridor filled room with light. 10. Free breakfast was a joke.
Paid $323 for a room that was only worth $50 there was also a sign in the room stating the maximum we could be charged for a queen bed was $250 room was very small bed was uncomfortable with a sheet and a very thin blanket, refrigerator didnt work hair dryer was out dated & the coffee pot was dirty We expected so much more from a Howard Johnson establishment
Location was okay
Better than nothing
Needs a major facelift. Air conditioner did not cool adequately. Breakfast tasted horrible.
Is on the way, if you want to pass by CA1.
Pretty old installation, and my room stayed just in the corner of the street. I though that a bus will pass over me few times while sleeping. But there are another rooms, that I thing are better.
Staff very helpful
Near a main road and noisy early morning with rubbish collection
Hotel so dirty did not take shower .Mold covering everything in bathroom .Dried food in back of microwave.Zit juice covering both mirrors.Beds so hard because label said manufactured in 1995 .Layer of dirt on everything inside hotel room and outside also.Manager not listening to anything I have to say holding me hostage says he was going to charge my credit card again if I complained.Had to call county health it was so bad.
The rooms were very small and had a very bad smell everything was out dated not worth what I paid for at all
Good value for the money.
Paper thin walls.
The people in charge were very nice.
Outside walkway and stairs need a to be pressure washed.
LovTion was okay.
Exterior was sad, old. The tiles in our room were broken, the shower felt like you were going to fall down to the first floor at any moment so you tried to move as little as possible and the roaches in the bathroom didn't add anything. When my daughter was showering she could feel the vibration of the fan/light from the room below. The breakfast room was small, actually tiny, and the selection was poor. My opinion of Howard Johnson went from really good to very poor!
I was given a new updated clean room, and the service was excellent. This was well worth the money and the location was fab!!!!!
I was given a room that was not update or clean.
Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast with lots of stuff. Spacious rooms.
Short walk to the beach, grocery store, costco. Several places to eat within walking distance or a short drive. The area felt safe. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. In room fridge and microwave was convenient
Clean Bed and room
Bathroom is old and doesn't suit updated room outside
The staff is very helpful.
found insects in bathroom and kitchen.
Very kind and accommodating staff. Rooms relatively updated.
Old construction, VERY noisy from other rooms and parking lot. Not in the best part of town, but not necessarily unsafe
the carpet in room 127 looked like someone parked their motorcycle in there. It was black. I looked like oil. Pipes in wall made terrible noises when the room next door took a shower. Carpet disqusting.
Recently stayed with my son and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We were on a budget (here for an orientation at csu monterey bay) so decided to take our chances. I was skeptical after reading views but when we arrived the staff was very friendly and the room was totally ok for the price. If your expecting 5 star luxury this is not the place but you definetly get your money's worth for a nice clean room great location, safe environment and continental breakfast . I will definetly stay again.
Had to keep calling down to have tv sat dish turned back on for espn and hbo channels (turns off when u turn off tv) but you just call down and they turn it back on in less than 2 minutes
Terrible smell, like smoke or pot; The carpet is filthy; The telephone doesn't even have a cable, let alone functional; The blow drier doesn't work; Bathroom stinks; TV sucks; Neighbour room and/or upstairs partied until 3am, the ceiling squeaks loud. I had a terrible night sleeping; Breakfast is horrible in a tight room; I will never stay in this hotel again. I advise you not to as well. I usually stay in cheap hotels. But this one should't even be in business.
