Hyland Motor Inn

An old fashioned roadside motel which has been well maintained. Offers the usual facilities of a modern motel room, microwave, iron, frig, etc. I was happy and comfortable for my two day stay.

All was good

It was clean & lots of outlets and lights. Easy access to car. Heat worked well. Lots of places to hang towels. Nice flat screen TV.

The mattresses on the beds were not very comfortable and too bouncy. The bathroom sink drained slowly. Décor very dated.

Man who called to confirm our date of arrival very congenial. Kitchen in room nice. Flat screen tv unexpected at a motel. Man who cleaned room cheerful and said to have a nice day.

Woman who "greeted" us as we arrived did not smile once, was rude in asking me if we had pets or smoked. Room musty The site says children under 8 free unless they use existing bed, they still charged me $10 a child and they slept on the floor in sleeping bags.

Paid for ice. Office wasn't open in the morning. Dust covers were nasty on bed. Web site was very misleading on rooms. The motor inn just seemed very run down and cheap and I won't go back. I felt dirty just staying there. The employee was confused because I checked out early. The trash bags were too small for the can and just kept falling through.

Nice clean room with kitchenette, easily controlled temperature. Central location for Cape May County Zoo, beaches, nature preserves, ferry to Delaware, whale-watch and more.

Somewhat noisey neighbors but not unusual for a Saturday night.

It was clean, the staff were friendly, the grounds were spacious, it was just very comfortable

Staff was friendly - room was clean If you are going to an event in Avalon or Stone Harbor, and don't want to be ripped off with 2-night minimum stays at too high prices, this is a reasonable alternative that is nearby.

Very old-fashioned - it's like 1957 there. Air Conditioner did not work well at all - room was hot. Windows were opened when we arrived, and were in most rooms.

Clean, Convenient to interstate

Chairs placed outside of my window were utilzed by others who talked and smoked until well after midnight . As a solo traveler I did not feel safe. I mentioned this to the management in the am and was dismissed. I think others should be aware of this. I would never stay at this establishment again. Can you say Bates Motel!

Paying $247.50 for a one night stay was excessive to say the least and I assume we got gouged due to the holiday weekend. Due to logistics had no other choice. Other than that no complaints. An eclectic environment where a motor inn seemingly of the '50s meets the present day having the old random picture prints on the wall with LED lighting and lamps from the '50s and '70s. It was clean and has a real nice pool.

The price.

The room was immaculate. They gave us a free 2nd floor upgrade with kitchen and dining room. The motel was quite full but it was extremely quiet. The staff that checked us in were lovely.

The only downside is that it is right on the Garden State. I thought it would be noisy with the traffic but it wasn't. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Ease of access and proximity to cape May

Loved the cleanliness of the Inn as well as the grounds. Pool is huge. Close to Stone Harbor, grocery shopping, beach. BBQs available, kitchenette. Staff are very friendly.

Location near to Cape May and Wildwood was execellent

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Was able to check in early. Easy parking and large grounds with lots of grass. Large, clean, family sized pool. Good location, just off main highway, but not very close to a beach.

The room was large but very dated. Carpet was very dirty. The furniture was all miss matched and bedding (bedspread) was very old and dated. Didn't like having to pay for ice. At $171.00 a night you should at least get free ice. There was no table and chairs to sit on in the room.

Clean, comfortable, quiet and very convenient. Good value for money.

The owners and help were extremely friendly. The place was cleaned daily and towels replaced then, as well. The air-conditioning was very old and not very effective on a very hot weekend.. The place is quite old and could use from refreshing (I think they are in the process of doing that to some rooms... not the one we stayed in, however. Overall, I think it is expensive for such an old room.
