would highly recommend this property slept like a baby warm and cozy it's a place where you can be left alone :))
I left my belt behind :((
We stayed two nights in one of the cottages. They are small but they made the best out of it. There is a gas chimney - and we needed it :-). It can get cold and wet. Breakfast is provided at the cottages - you have a water heater but no stove; there is a fridge. Note that the options for dinner in the area are not many. All in all it is a quite place useful if you want to spent the day in the National Park without driving much.
The Queen Anne buildings architectural style and details and the surrounding landscape with rich foliage immediately make us want to stay longer. The hospitality of the staff is excellent. There are great Restaurants within walking distances. The volcano park is just a 5 mins drive away and experiencing sunrise at the volcano was so convenient.
Overall, it is a great experience to stay at this retreat which is a very restful place. A suggestion for improvement would be hot breakfasts being served at the main house. This would add personal service which is expected of a B&B and add value.
Excellent value. We wanted a place over night to explore Volcano Park. This was the perfect place. Super staff thank you Ashley! Beautiful grounds.
The only discomfort was the hardness of the bed mattress.
Beautiful setting, helpful staff daily loaf of home cooked bread. Felt like home.
Charming cottages set in the rain forest within two minutes of the Park...very clean and comfortable with an exceptional innkeeper and attentive staff....freshly made breakfast breads and delicious mangoes...a really nice gift shop with articles from local artists. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hale Ohia Cottages and highly recommend it.
Very quiet, historic cabins, lots of character. Would definitely stay here again. If you need glitz, then this isn't the place for you. If you like cozy and reasonable price, then this is the place for you. Friendly staff.
The cottages are quaint and very well-kept on beautiful grounds. This is a very short drive to Volcanoes National Park. We really liked the daily fruit and bread.
Excellent location within a mile of National Volcano Park. Yummy homemade bread and fresh fruit. Ground coffee. Wifi worked great too!
The freezer did really freeze in the mini frig. Ice cubes never formed. It was no biggie though - we just had a few sodas.
Good location close to Volcano national park, decent value for money.
Perfect location, perfect forrest arround. Very nice rooms
It was secluded with beautiful grounds. The room were all furnished different and very comfortable. We had fresh homemade citrus bread and fruit for breakfast.
We stayed for the first half of our honeymoon vacation to Hawaii. Everything about this place was perfect! The owner is so sweet and goes out of his way to make your stay as amazing as possible. The location is perfect if you are going to Volcano national Park (which you should definitely do) I would definitely go back and I would recommend Hale Ohia to everyone! In one word: Charming.
Unfortunately, a large family came on our last night and stayed at the cottage closest to us and were very loud :( but that's not Hale Ohia's fault... Some people are just rude.
Location was great, very close drive to Volcano and the small town itself. People have complained at the lack of breakfast but we were more than satisfied with the cakes, coffee, fruit that are laid out in advance in your room. The little banana loaf was yummy!
beautiful landscaping and cottages, nice change from the beach resorts
breakfast just fruit and bread in room, a bit scant for a bed and breakfast
Every aspect of the facility. First class operation.
Mike won't adopt us and let us stay there forever !!
Ask for an end cottage as our room did not have much light.
Breakfast, mountain setting, comfy bed.
A bit cramped. Difficult to find in the dark.
Quiet, lovely grounds very near to the Volcanoes National Park. Our cottage was charming and quirky with a lovely view from each window and a front porch on which we had our morning coffee.
One side of the bed sloped so that person on that side needed to sleep in middle of bed! If you spoon, then no issue!
close to the national park cooler than down by the beach by 10deg quiet area no traffic
no cooking in the room only had coffee pot wifi was spotty in the room no on site laundry but one was close by in town.
Very cozy and comfortable. Great landscaping. Nice beds. Good special breads and fruit for breakfast. Wonderful quiet location.
The cottages are beautiful, out of a Disney tale. It's situated just 1 or 2km from the Volcano National Park entrance, so really handy if you're visiting it.
Coffee maker was a bit dirty. Breakfast is yummy (fresh fruits and delicious banana break) but it's a pity it's not offered in a breakfast room along with some fresh coffee and at least some bread and cereal.
Great property and cottage layout... Ideally located for the volcano national park visitors... Staff was welcoming and provided useful information.
Our room felt very humid after rain shower.
Quiet heavenly oasis after a full day of travel and sightseeing.
The staff is very kind, perfect position to visit the vulcano.
