Score from 25 reviews Good
The location feels secluded, but it is convenient to Vassar, ibm, and the airport. The beds were comfortable.
I thought the room and the beds were very good. The AC worked well as did the TV. Shower was excellent.
The outside of the building could use some sprucing up. There were only towels for 2 people and we had three.
Staff tried hard
Tub didn't hold water. Few decent restaurants neart and difficult to control
The staff didn't have any issues with having our bike's in our room. We had 3 bikes going u p and
We booked for 2 nights and they were full the second night, so we had to go elsewhere. The staff made no attempt to assist us. We went to a Holiday Inn Express, which was spare, but felt cleaner.
Complimentary wine or beer btw 5 & 7. Excellent set up of breakfast
- Upgraded to King Suit - Whirlpool was great - Clean, comfortable
- Breakfast was very poor for European standards
Locatiostaff was polite
Handicap room had no walk-in shower. AC smelled very, very musty. This made the room feel wet and smell poorly. Very dusty window and screen that was not secure in window.
The front desk gal was great... gave us an upgrade and a room with a view to the river.
Sutter home wine served at happy hour. Ick! (of course, it was free so I really can't complain. I just couldn't drink it!)
The room and bathroom is clean, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the glass of wine in the late afternoon. The hotel is in a beautiful setting on the creek. We watched the ducks and kingfishers. Good coffee at breakfast. There were two luggage stands in the room! That makes a multiple day stay much easier. The beds were very comfortable.
The bathroom towels are thin and old. The hotel allows smoking on the deck overlooking the creek. That can ruin the experience of enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee outside for non-smokers. Though the setting is very nice, it isn't within walking distance to any restaurants or shops. You have to drive to everything. The wi-fi is an open network, not secured. The pillows were very thick, not so good if you prefer a flatter pillow.
This out of the way hotel makes you feel like you are in the backwoods of the mountains, but is a few minutes from all conveniences. Great view of the "Wappinger Falls"[rapids}
Breakfast a little sparse
We booked the hotel while visiting our son at West Point. We had booked a suite so that we had room to relax while he visited with us. We got to the room to find to double beds. When my husband went downstairs to explain the situation, the woman at he front desk told him all the suites were taken and he would have to speak to a manager, but she wouldn't be in until Monday. The staff was not helpful until I contacted Booking.com, who on the other hand was very prompt in contacting me and helpful. After an operator talked to the front desk, they at least changed out rate, which was still way too expensive for the room we had.
quiet, quaint location off the beaten path. The little falls were very peaceful to sit and watch for a few minutes
The location was perfect for access to Vassar and the city of Poughkeepsie but it felt rural and was very peaceful. The river patio is a wonderful feature and I loved the exterior of the hotel and the fact that our room had wooden window frames! Rooms were spotlessly clean (thank you, Ms. Rosa!) and well-maintained, as was the little fitness room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The happy hour each evening was also very nice.
The hand sanitizer was empty in the fitness room for our entire stay and the water cooler was not refilled.
We liked the location of the Best Western-quiet neighborhood, pretty brook and falls. The beds were comfortable and breakfast okay. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Wi-fi connection was not available in the room.
Very helpful/friendly staff Room-clean and smelled fresh Not far from Hyde Park attractions Comfortable porch overlooking the water Average continental breakfast Free 2 glasses of beer or wine in evening
Three of us; only 2 facecloths & hand towels...had to ask everyday. No Bible in room...even cruise ship had a Bible. Computer unusable...faced full-length windows so there was a terrible glare/impossible to read the screen. Also it was VERY slow. Girl at the desk made restaurant reservations for us; she couldn't use the guest computer either.
Complimentary breakfast was very good..we enjoyed the coffee an make-your-own waffles in particular. Also, manager's happy hour at the bar was a nice add in.
Our room was in pretty good condition, but showed a few signs wear in the bathroom.
The location is great - we were on a college visit to Vassar. Also, the breakfast was fine.
The room was infested with ants - ants that were 3/4 of an inch long. In addition, the bathroom was in need of attention. The tub was rather sketchy looking, and the ceiling was in need of replacement.
Quiet and pretty area
Settling on the Wappinger Creek, with a patio. Enjoyed sitting there with the free drink each evening! Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was above average.
dark brown everywhere, dim lighting, foam pillows on brown bedspread. Brown - the colour of earth - or dirt - the whole place seemed tired, the windows were filthy. we opened ours and the screens were also dirth as well as the window reveals. The check in desk had an open door behind the assistant that gave a direct view of unpacked boxes - we were so put off we almost considered sleeping in the car.
Right by the water in quiet neighborhood and complementary glass of wine on arrival which we sipped on porch overlooking water.
The hotel is located on a small river (but our rooms gave onto the street :( ). Staff was helpful and suggested an excellent restaurant, which was one of the highlights of our roadtrip - with a terrace on the Hudson. It was quite close to Vassar College, which made our morning visit easy.
The rooms smelled a bit of mold, and we had a few bugs. The beds were very high - a bit odd. We were not charged correctly (they did not give us the rate we reserved on booking.com), but they did correct it as soon as we showed them the error. The breakfast was disappointing - lacking fresh ingredients.
Good breakfast, with lots of choices The manager's reception was unexpected but a nice bonus Good value for the money
