The room and bathroom is clean, comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the glass of wine in the late afternoon. The hotel is in a beautiful setting on the creek. We watched the ducks and kingfishers. Good coffee at breakfast. There were two luggage stands in the room! That makes a multiple day stay much easier. The beds were very comfortable.
The bathroom towels are thin and old. The hotel allows smoking on the deck overlooking the creek. That can ruin the experience of enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee outside for non-smokers. Though the setting is very nice, it isn't within walking distance to any restaurants or shops. You have to drive to everything. The wi-fi is an open network, not secured. The pillows were very thick, not so good if you prefer a flatter pillow.
This out of the way hotel makes you feel like you are in the backwoods of the mountains, but is a few minutes from all conveniences. Great view of the "Wappinger Falls"[rapids}
Breakfast a little sparse
quiet, quaint location off the beaten path. The little falls were very peaceful to sit and watch for a few minutes
We liked the location of the Best Western-quiet neighborhood, pretty brook and falls. The beds were comfortable and breakfast okay. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Wi-fi connection was not available in the room.
Very helpful/friendly staff Room-clean and smelled fresh Not far from Hyde Park attractions Comfortable porch overlooking the water Average continental breakfast Free 2 glasses of beer or wine in evening
Three of us; only 2 facecloths & hand towels...had to ask everyday. No Bible in room...even cruise ship had a Bible. Computer unusable...faced full-length windows so there was a terrible glare/impossible to read the screen. Also it was VERY slow. Girl at the desk made restaurant reservations for us; she couldn't use the guest computer either.
Complimentary breakfast was very good..we enjoyed the coffee an make-your-own waffles in particular. Also, manager's happy hour at the bar was a nice add in.
Our room was in pretty good condition, but showed a few signs wear in the bathroom.
The location is great - we were on a college visit to Vassar. Also, the breakfast was fine.
The room was infested with ants - ants that were 3/4 of an inch long. In addition, the bathroom was in need of attention. The tub was rather sketchy looking, and the ceiling was in need of replacement.
Quiet and pretty area
Settling on the Wappinger Creek, with a patio. Enjoyed sitting there with the free drink each evening! Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was above average.
dark brown everywhere, dim lighting, foam pillows on brown bedspread. Brown - the colour of earth - or dirt - the whole place seemed tired, the windows were filthy. we opened ours and the screens were also dirth as well as the window reveals. The check in desk had an open door behind the assistant that gave a direct view of unpacked boxes - we were so put off we almost considered sleeping in the car.
Right by the water in quiet neighborhood and complementary glass of wine on arrival which we sipped on porch overlooking water.
The hotel is located on a small river (but our rooms gave onto the street :( ). Staff was helpful and suggested an excellent restaurant, which was one of the highlights of our roadtrip - with a terrace on the Hudson. It was quite close to Vassar College, which made our morning visit easy.
The rooms smelled a bit of mold, and we had a few bugs. The beds were very high - a bit odd. We were not charged correctly (they did not give us the rate we reserved on booking.com), but they did correct it as soon as we showed them the error. The breakfast was disappointing - lacking fresh ingredients.
Good breakfast, with lots of choices The manager's reception was unexpected but a nice bonus Good value for the money
Appliances in room
Hard to find
Pleasant location. Good local pub within walking distance.
Wonderful location and great space in the room. Just having a microwave available was a plus. Everything was clean. The setting was charming. It was only 10 minutes away from Hyde Park. The continental breakfast was the best I've experienced in terms of variety and comfort.
Beautiful setting next to creek Convenient location
1. TV did not get major networks and desk attendant was aware and said " we don't usually tell people that ahead of time because it doesn't matter to many people. (Really?). Also no channel guide. 2. AC ran full blast my entire stay and room was still damp and only mildly cooled. This was during a low humidity period with overnight lows down to 60. 3. Fitness room was messy, water cooler empty, elliptical machine needs repair, and equipment was dated. 4. In a two day stay I had to go to the desk 2 times to get a new key because mine wouldn't work in my door. 5. Shower has extremely low pressure and the first day almost no hot water. 6. Blow dryer became burning hot in my hand, smelled burnt and stooped working. I seriously feared a fire so unplugged it and called desk for help(about 7 am). . Rang more than 20 times, waited a few minutes and called again--still no answer. Went to lobby and found no one on duty, no one in kitchen area, walked through offices calling 'Hello!" I need help" and found no one. Went back to room to check the dryer to be sure it cooled down. Then returned to lobby to find two young women behind desk-- when I told them I had been looking for them they looked at each other as if "caught". I asked for another dryer and they looked for a key and replied--I guess the maid took the master key home. What? The master key is at someone's home? Nt secure at the hotel? Eventually let me in a dirty room where someone had checked out so they had a key, to dry my hair. I will never be back.
The room with 2 queen beds is fairly large and the beds are comfortable. The AC works well.
Staff at the front desk didn't seem happy to be there and did not make us feel very welcomed.
Great view of the river and falls. Free wine at a manager's reception - a generous two glasses & a beautiful spot to drink them on the patio overlooking the water. Clean, spacious room w/ a whirlpool tub & separate shower- lovely & clean. Nice free breakfast in the AM.
I have no complaints! A really great spot!
Good bar atmosphere and everyone friendly . Band practice nice .
No courtesy bus .
The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and it was a good place to use as a base for our excursions to homes and gardens along the Hudson. They gave you a complementary beverage between 5:30 and 7:30.
The tub didn't drain very well and there didn't seem to be a solution.
This is a beautiful property and the staff was very accommodating. I would recommend it to everyone.
Bed comfortable, breakfast on patio nice view of river.
Room smelled of mold or coverup chemicals. Old and frayed towels. Door had to be pushed closed.
Location, cleanliness and comfort of room. Complimentary wine. Gracious service upon arrival
Breakfast wasn't very good. Cardboard tasting waffles, better breakfast sandwiches at 7-11. Morning deskclerk unavailable & detached.
