Loved the location. An old fashioned country Inn facing Lake Champlain.Sat on the beach in an Adirondack chair watching an endless sunset. Inn @ The Isles is a non profit that funds micro-loans to budding entrepreneurs in Nicaragua. No,not vulture capitalist but grass roots businesses with initial capital of perhaps $100.So,when you stay here not only will you get a great nights sleep and phenomenal food from Isabel's garden, you'll be helping folks to help themselves. You'll really enjoy staying here.
Sunset view. Breakfast 1st morning. Liked remote location.
We stayed overnight with friends (2 rooms). Rooms were not serviced. Wet towels were not changed; bed not made. We went to Montreal 2nd day, returning 9:00 p.m. only to find note on table saying owners had left 7:00 p.m. (leaving entire facility wide open and no one there), daughter would arrive later that evening and would prepare breakfast for us in morning. We had to look for toilet paper in other rooms (we had 2 rooms, both out of toilet paper) and found some in upstairs bathroom. Breakfast 1st morning was very good; pancakes, homemade bread (lucky us, they ran out and other guests did not get any), fried potatoes, sausage, juice, fruit, coffee. Breakfast 2nd morning not so good; daughter cooked and burned waffle which she served to us (we did not eat it), and we had to ask for juice and meat, no fruit. We were overcharged which I discovered upon return home when checking credit card bill, called them and they promptly issued a refund. Our fault for not getting a statement when we left; again owners were not there and daughter did not seem to be that experienced in running business. Place is run down and needs a lot of work. We did not know we would be staying in 4 room motel in back of property and not in inn; no where in write up about inn does it say anything about separate motel. Pictures in ad are less than appealing; again our fault for not being more selective.
Beautiful point of view for the sunset in front of the house, the sun goes down to the horizon, where you can see some mountains, and is reflected in the lake's water. Was very nice in automn, I'm sure it's also a very good place during summer and spring. Their dog is very nice, it doesn't bark and doesn't jump on people. It's an important positive point to me, because I hate dogs that I don't know, who jump on me or drool on me.. About the owners, they are very friendly, simple, and open. The place is well maintained, clean sheets, clean bathroom. The antique furnitures add a unique touch to this little paradise. The FREE(!!!) breakfast was the biggest surprise. Fresh fruits, very good orange juice, eggs cooked as you wish, potatoes, honey, pancakes, muffins, breads, and a very very good coffee (I'm a cofee lover). To be short, it's a full homemade breakfast, you won't leave hungry. My friend and I loved it, it's easy to access, and the atmosphere is very warm. If you are looking to explore the area, I highly recommend it.
Because there are always something to improve: The wifi connection didn't work in bedrooms, actually, the connection was working only close to the reception desk, but we were here for vacations, so I didn't care that much. There were tiny spider webs in corners however it was not a dirty place. I hate insects though it didn't bother me that much. It reminded my grand pas house, it is a clean place though there are some spots that are untouched, often difficult to access. Last point which wasn't that bad too, the temperature, the first night, we were a bit cold, but the small heater and the warm sheets did the job and we spent a good night. Compared to the price and the good points, these are, for me, details to improve, but not negative points.
I loved how the inn was on the water's edge. Perfect view, sunrise and sunset. Nothing says romantic better than on a dock over the waves eating dinner and watching the sunset. They even had a piano. This was our first anniversary together. I'm willing to come back more than once a year.
That I had to leave and get back to work.
Odd smell in room. Uncomfortable beds. Electric sockets not working so unable to use fan in room.
Location great, staff super-helpful, yummy dinner.
We had the most relaxing 2 night stay at the Inn. Being on the lake in a very private location was key for us. Our sleeps were so peaceful with the only sounds being nature. We had lovely home cooked breakfasts and dinners made with very fresh vegetables from their large garden out back. Izzy, Alex, Paul and Janel were so friendly and very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The fact that all proceeds are donated to a great local cause makes it even more of an attractive place to be!
There is a little beach area across from the Inn which is nice.
The Inn is more like a hostel, very basic. But the cost was $140 a night so not inexpensive. I would not advise anyone to stay here unless there is nowhere else to stay. Bed was very uncomfortable.
The isle is amazing and the placement of the Inn incredible. Isabel and her husband are great people. If you need to run from your stressful days, the Inn is the place
Great spot near the water. Friendly staff, checked on our needs offen. Bed rooms small but comfortable. Good inn for road biking the islands.
Breakfast was sparse, table setting nonexistent, no condiments, few choices, no fruit.
Friendly and welcoming Delicious vegetarian dinner straight from their garden Donate all proceeds to charity (microloaning non-profit in Nicaruaga) Location on the shores of Lake Champlain
Old plumbing compromised shower
Our hosts went out of their way to meet our needs. Isabel prepared a wonderful breakfast for 19 of us daily for 3 days with ingredients fresh from her garden. The location right on Lake Champlain with a view to the west made for wonderful sunsets.
We liked everything
The view in the evening was outstanding , sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee was ever so peaceful
Being my 1st B&B I expected a little more , the breakfast was nothing to write home about
It isn't clean.
The setting was special right on Lake Champlain with a view to the west for great sunsets. The managers are very engaging and worked hard to make our group of 19 have a wonderful 4-day visit. Isabel created a great breakfast each day including many ingredients fresh from her extensive garden. With no television or other distractions it was good to enjoy the beautiful setting and have meaningful time to talk and play games with our friends.
We found the rooms very clean and more than adequate, but the accommodations are basic for anyone who wants the amenities of a Holiday Inn. The setting and the extremely gracious hosts more than compensate for the simplicity of the rooms.
the friendliness of thenkeeper. in
not very much amenities such as;more tv channels .
Location was excellent.
Poor information provided before hand as to the conditions of the house and available conveniences.
- wonderful, friendly staff/owner-operator - excellent accommodation for either one night en route or an extended weekend of peace and relaxation
*Home-like atmosphere *Flexibility of Staff *Proximity to the Lake
*That we could not stay longer (due to our own schedules!)
All of the above. Location is lovely, breakfast cooked to order. The Inn has the feel of a summer camp from decades ago.
the view to water front was great. The owners have laid out many chairs so that you can rest, read, talk in different locations.
it was far on the islands with no restaurants near by.
The hosts were very friendly and the inn was very clean.
Run as a non profit, a good one, but not as a business.
Beautiful, homey, old house in a spectacular location run by a lovely family! Dinners are healthy, delicious and garden-fresh. Both dinners and rooms are a good value.
Location, and staff friendliness. the building is old and remodeled retaining the traditional feel.
That I didn't read the room description carefully and thus selected the non-optimal room for my wife and myself.
