Excellent location,good room size.friendly staff.
Great location, beautiful modern comfortable room, best bathroom and mini bar EVER!!! Loved it!!! Will absolutely return!
Breakfast is limited and expensive. Walk a half a block for a great breakfast.
Style, comfort, and location. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and lakefront.
The room was dark and small. The room rate ranged from $152-271 for our 6 day stay. I would have liked to have seen this info on the booking.com website. There is nowhere to sit in the hotel other than in a small bar area. Perhaps understandable as this is a small hotel.
When they were available, the coffee and homemade mini muffins were great. Great toiliteries. Very friendly staff. Free U.S. and Canada long distance calling. Access to a great gym two blocks away. Very central location.
The only issues I had were minor and nothing I would rate them negatively for on the survey. I wish there had been a gym on site, but I knew there wasn't when I booked the stay. Also, I had difficulty getting my room cold enough for me. It was not hot and the air was working, but the changes in the controls did not seem to impact the room temp at all. I had the controls on high and at 64 and still was a little warm for my taste. However, I opened a window and all was well.
The hotel was wonderful. The room and service was well above my expectations. The location was perfect and only a few steps from Michigan Ave. Coming back to the room in the evening to find soft music, a turned down bed and treats left for my enjoyment was a nice touch. I will definitely stay here again!
The hotel is couple blocks from Michigan ave. and is the perfect location. For the price the hotel should have had some amenities, but there were none.
One night was very noisy. Not a fault of the staff or facility, just noisy guests. There is little insulation from the hallway.
I enjoyed that this hotel is close to most convention venues, right in the midst of the best shops on the Magnificent Mile, but away from the crush of crowds and noise.
Breakfast was good, but way over priced. Small plate of omelet, toast and a coffee is $27 before tip.
Luxury feel, amazing staff, and a super comfortable bed.
No exercise room
Beautiful contemporary feel!
The fact that it's a small or the shortest sky scraper in the city, dwarfs the expectations related to seeing spectacular views of the city. Kind of a bummer; especially if you're thinking of walking around nude w the curtains open.
Everything! Especially the bathroom was totally worth the price point. I had a wonderful time & expect to return soon.
Staff very hard working and nice
The mini bar/fridge was pricy. I understand that its Chicago but $5 for a can of coke. Even the bar in the lobby was $10 for a cosmopolitan. Its a nice looking boutique hotel but it needs to be maintained better. The handrail in the elevator was loose. We also could hear people entering and leaving their rooms so the sound tended to be unbearable. With this the door rattled constantly
The location was great. Close to Michigan Mile. Not even a 10 minute walk to restaurants. The King sweet is really nice bedroom area with a separate seating area.
Bellman was too busy on his phone to even look up, let alone open the door when we had our arms filled with shopping bags.
Quick service with a request; help with recommendations for a show; dinners. Great location; very comfortable rooms. Very nice to have treats at night.
I had a bad experience with booking.com because I misunderstood or they misrepresented the daily price of the hotel. The price doubled on the weekend from the weeknights. That was not in my budget.
I liked the way the staff knew you personally and talked with you as if you were a guest in their own homes. The desk staff was not as outgoing as the bartenders, doormen, and cleaning staff who were exceptionally personable. I enjoyed the same friendly faces daily!
Odd decor, attempt at luxury circa 1992. Not understanding the purple glam aesthetic for a hotel called ivy. Living wall would be so elegant. Terrible chandelier in the entry and some choices that undermined the sense of quality one would normally associate with luxury or boutique (Door mouldings over light switches, eg). But i am a design nut and everything else was nicely done.
Staff were friendly, room was very nice, bathroom fixtures and finishes were great (we upgraded to a king).
Nothing, everything was perfect
Fabulous staff, total professionals. Lovely spacious rooms, classy décor.
Staff was not really friendly, room was very noisy (air condition was kind of not ok), very loud fan of the mini bar, certain things are dirty -e.g. remote control had lot of stains, many different insects were in the fly screen (disgusting). We addressed all issues nothing has been done. The bellboy was absolutely bothersome to arrange his guy for our way to the airport.. in general I'd suggest to spend some extra dollars and stay @TheJames.. rooms are similar, price is similar location is similar and you have the benefits of a "big hotel"..
The rooms are very modern & stylish, new bathrooms also the rooms are very spacious. Furthermore the location in Chicago is just perfect.
Not very happening hotel. The lobby bar was never open and no one was around.
Cool room, good location.
There are nothing we didn't like.
The hotel suite was absolutely beautiful, modern, clean & so much room. This will be our go to hotel for Chicago from now on
Heat/ air system a bit noisy in our room, but typical in large buildings I guess
Large modern rooms Comfortable bed Separate sitting area Great showere with separate tub
The staff is less than cold really if it wasn't for them taking my credit card I would have never even have know they were there seriously.
Room size is great, modern furniture and design , quite ,clean, everything really is great about this PROPERTY!
Nothing, we had a great stay:)
We were in Chicago for a college visit and wanted to stay in the city. We chose the Ivy for the great reviews, location and it's boutique style. We were within walking distance of variety of shops and restaurants. We valeted our truck for the weekend and either walked or took cabs around town. The doormen were so friendly and attentive at all times, as was the staff at the front desk and bar area. We will most definitely chose the Ivy for all our Chicago visits in the future. Oh and the rooms were fantastic, large and emmaculate!
No breakfast until 7:30 AM--- making it tough for a business trip when you want to get going early
