I was impressed by everything from the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff to the amazing room. The experience could not have been better
I know it is late in the season but I wish the roof top bar had been open. I was looking forward to a drink and a view
Everything. Big spacious room, we didn't expect what we got, we had almost a whole apartment! And the staff was very helpful and friendly...
Nothing comes to my mind!
Great location of this small boutique hotel, located at a few steps from Michigan Avenue, with its shops, bars and restaurants. Nice and very tidy rooms and every single member of the staff went the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Whatever question you had, it got answered with a smile. Special thanks to Tara and Maria at the front desk for all their help. Quiet room, modern decoration and nice bathroom with very soft towels. Every evening the housemaids put a little note on your bed with the weather conditions for the next day and some chocolates. A small attention, but very much appreciated. I would definitely go back!
I would have preferred a larger bed.
The room was beautiful and hotel was in a great location. I loved the special touches like little muffins at the front desk in the morning and little treats on the bed at night!
Lovely location - right on the bus route to Navy Pier and a short walk to the El public transport and Contemporary Art Museum. Good breakfast spot called The Corner Bakery a block away.
Having the cost of an additional night pre-authorised on my card when we checked in to cover mini-bar and "damages" - at the end of a long holiday I wasn't sure I had enough credit, and was scared to use to coffe provided as it wasn't clear if it would cost extra.
Everything, excellent service, very clean, great location.
That it doesn't have a gym :(
Lifts broke but staff were great and room 1203 has tiny window with poor view.
It was a chic, clean hotel. Conveniently located. Size of the king suite was prefect! The turn down service was very nice with chocolate cover red velvet deserts.
The employee who checked us in was not very personable. He hardly smiled or made eye contact.
Location was excellent
Wifi in room was unreliable
Tv in bathroom did not work.
The doors slam shut and you can hear ever time someone enters or leaves their room
Elevator was out of service one night.
The room was amazing. The location was excellent. Close to main shopping, bars and wonderful restaurants. We will return to this hotel agAin.
Great location just off Magnificent Mile so you can walk to many sights. The bed was wonderful, and the room was huge. Nicely laid out- gave a home away from home feel. Roof terrace nice to hang out in. Staff quite helpful.
Don't order food here- far too salty but lots of other choices in area. There was a small issue with a staff member soliciting rides to the airport which was annoying.
Location, upgraded suite, rooftop bar
Housekeeping had strange hours
I stayed at the Ivy Hotel for four days on a business trip in early fall 2014. First let me say that of the dozen, or so, hotels I have stayed in the past 20 years in Chicago, this one is the very best. My room was quiet and I loved the design and decor of the room. I found the small touches were quite chic. The large screen TV's were fantastic and the rain forest shower was superb. One of my pet peeves in mega-hotels is the interminable wait for elevators -- no such problem here.
The only thing I'd note, and this is a very small thing, is that the front office staff tried to place in me a smaller room when I first checked in but after I brought to the attention of the manager I got the room I was promised and paid for.
They Ivy was such a great romantic time that kindled flames! The room and services was haevanly! Literally with a wonderful roof top bar with a stunning view with the sun setting on the surrounding buildings! We plan to visit many more times!

Heavy perfume smell in lobby Mattress too soft Internet too slow
Excellent location. Hotel decor is modern. Washroom is big and rainfall shower is beautiful w great water pressure. Suites are spacious. Hotel has a fridge on the main floor to store your groceries, call the front desk and they will heat it up and bring it to you. Staff working the front door always great you and open the door for you. All staff very accommodating. Loved the turn down service of a note with the the next days weather and a little treat.
Sky lounge menu is limited and very pricey.
We liked everything! Our king studio was perfect in every way. We enjoyed being in the center of Chicago with everything within walking distance.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Location, staff, cleanliness, amazing rooms, comfy sleep
Intimate hotel with surprisingly luxurious and spacious rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.
Lobby area is noisy and small.
The suite was wonderful and had everything we needed to make our one week stay thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. The location couldn't have been better - a block and a half off miichigan ave.
The only thing that prevented the stay from being perfect is thar the wifi didn't work. Had to use tons of data on my cell phone rather than use my tablet as desired.
Location is very convenient to MI Avenue. Suites are quite spacious and the beds/furnishings are comfortable. Bathrooms were large with both a tub and separate shower. Bell staff on the ball. Treats at turn down.
Do not accept a room on the second floor! I thought it would be convenient (which it was as i didn't have to use the elevators, which can be a bit slow), but the constant noise from Staff coming up the stairs into the Office, which is also on the second floor, was loud and very irritating. As the floors are quite small, you heard doors slamming due to the door closers(you know the sound) at all hours of the day and night. Made for a poor night's sleep. I assume this is not an issue on any of the other floors. At checkout, I mentioned this to the front desk staff (in response to the standard "how was your stay" question) and got a sorry, here's your bill...
Staff was good, especially the concierge was very nice. The room was great, the interior is modern and comfortable. The bath was excellent - shower with lots of options like rainfall and a TV included in the mirror. Sky terrace was good especially at night because if there purple lights and a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious, we ordered it into our room.
The fridge was not really cold. But that's nearly all I have to complain. The cocktails they offer are really fancy - if you're looking for the classics you won't find them at the menu.
