Everything is good, except room carpet and the couch wasnt clean.
Location being across the st from the park. Also safety and level of security is excellent.
Furniture was old and rooms feels over used and needs remodeling
The location was great and the view of central park was simply breathtaking!!!!!
Flush and shower were broken ... They repaired them and next day again we need to call them for a fix !!! Rooms and toilets were over used !! I was very disappointed !
The room was good enough for four people and internet was very good.
The hotel location is great and very near to all major acitivites and big shops of New York city. The room was clean, the hotel interior and room veiws were amazing. The level of service was generally very good.
Some of the reception and service staff were a bit seriour and it was very hard for them to smile. The hotel In-room dining was vey expensive.
Location, staff, lobby, tv variety,
Size of toilet is little bit small, there was no free wife service like other hotels. Pillows was so smooth, need to be more harder.
one 8 oz bottle of water was $9 internet was not included some floors have residences where kids and animals run around..
Location is great
Some stuff are really rude
Door and luggage service is baaaad
The location was second to none, king size room was good. Bed and bed linen were very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful
The tv was very hard to work. The internet access was very expensive. Thankfully we took internet and phone as the phone calls to out of state were really expensive.
Fantastic location - right opposite Central Park, and several subways stops within easy walking distance Very friendly and helpful staff Very comfortable beds! Some fantastic restaurants nearby
Breakfast buffet not great and definitely over priced for what you get - would recommend you eat elsewhere (unless you have breakfast included) Rooms a little tired and need some maintenance, but very clean.
- Location - For US good service - good spread at bfast buffet - very knowledgable Concierge - overall pretty clean - provided us with a second fridge as we have Young kids and needed extra space for the milk
- oh well ...... We had good time and there were a few issues. But in the end, why complain .....
Location - can't beat it Size of suite No bedbugs! Having a TV in both parts of the suite was great for the family.
Air conditioning was not cold. Days were hot and we wanted to go back to a cool room! Everything looked a bit shabby in the room - blinds didn't all work, door thingy that had us switch on the "DND" notice without us knowing, because it was so loose, etc. Place seems to need a face lift. The price was okay but not exceptional for the quality of the room. Felt like we were really just paying for location.
The location was primarily an excellent choice.
But our room was always in need of cleanliness, the bathroom didn't smell good. And what surprised us for the money we r paying a bottle of water wasn't available per night for each person.
It's clean, stuff friendly.
I didn't like paying Internet, it can be complimentary.
Location was great. The rooms were very clean and quiet for resting. Front desk, the concierge service was excellent.
Bathroom has an issue where the water drains down the sid eof the tub, so that the flooring outside the bathtub gets wet all the time.
Love the location, close to time square, close to shopping and close to the park.
The staff at reception and bell desk were very courteous and helpful. But the service staff who is entrusted with the job of being a single point contact for all our needs was very very poor. She did not even communicate my messages to the concerned departments. I had to wait for nearly one hour for someone from the bell desk to come and collect my bags from the room during checkout. Later I came to know that the service staff posted on that day did not even inform the bell desk of the need. I have stayed in Marriotts all around the world. This is the worst I hav ever experienced when it comes to service.
They chose to block 6 nights fee when we were staying for 10 and they locked us out on the 7th day. We waited for 1 hour for the "security" to come and unlock the room after we paid the rest of it. 7000 for 10 days and they thought we would skip out with the last 1500. I have never been so furious in my life. Just unacceptable.. really expensive breakfast
I liked the location, gym, concierge team were very efficient, friendly team, and clean.
Rooms are small and bit pricy.
Close to Central Park, Accessibility to Underground Stations, Hotel decoration, breakfast, room size, friendliness of concierge.
My family and I stayed 3 nights because of my previous experience with the old operator. The quality of the hotel has definitely degraded with JW Marriott compared to its previous operator and definitely was not worth the price I paid. Our room was large but outdated, and whatever extra amenities we requested (i.e a fridge) were either available at an extra charge or the hotel policy did not allow guests the service because of the liability. The room service was miserable, the cleaners did very superficial work. I happened to come back in the room for a split second while the maid was cleaning (which she didn't like) I heard her complaining and using explicit language at the same time which caught my attention. I didn't see that she was using different wash cloths for different bathroom surfaces..so that worried me. When we asked her for an extra trash bin (because the ones provided were small and only made for pencil shavings and used tissues) she barked and said there aren't any. After we insisted, then she hung a giant black trash bag on the closet door and walked away. Its a shame that this hotel isn't better when it is certainly capable of being so much more than it is. if you're looking for luxury, then this is not the place for you. If you're traveling with a young family, then this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for someplace close to the main streets and a room with a view, then you might want to consider JW Marriott Essex House.
This trip was all about being in the right location. The Essex House was perfectly situated. I was able to walk to eat, drink and shop everywhere I planned to do so. It is also very convenient if needing to catch the subway. I was able to use the same station to run uptown to the Bronx and downtown to The World Trade Center.
The location and the helpful and professional staff who were excellent.
