rented 2 rooms; enamel was chipped out of sinks in both; only 1 lamp in each room was operable; had to request towels for my room 3 times before receiving any; bathroom vanity lights didn't work; door lock broken; no way to darken room with curtains; extremely slow elevator; understaffed. Place had clearly seen better days; rugs in rooms and common areas worn and in disrepair.
Experience once or twice in a lifetime until I regain the strength and flexibility of my youth.
Amtrak day and night clearing. The street by sounding their horn.
Renovation needed!! Suite was disgusting. No amenities, no fridge, no soaps, etc available. Lighting was yellow and very sparse. All the windows has so much condensation you could not even see through them. We did not even want to take our shoes off or get into the bed. We check in and checked right out. Train goes by to often. Don't waste your time or money.
The only thing I did like was I need
I did not like the facts that when I went to go take a shower the shower floor was all cracked into small pieces that could have cut your feet.. when the staff was notified they asked do we want to change but the bath tub in the other rooms was worst . FOR the amount of money your ask for you have to be really out off your mines
Room had no lightbulbs or towels. Stayed for 3 nights and still didn't get any lightbulbs in our room
The secure parking
The check in staff was helpless and overworked. The rooms were horrible with the first room given to us having rats runing around and chewed almond peices on the beds!! The replacement room given was also horrible with only one light in the room having a bulb out of 3 lights, rotten, smelly, stained carpets, no batteries in the remote for Tv, NO Wi-Fi as it was out of order.....and the list goes on!!
No wifi, no toilet rolls
Nothing! I think wi-fi worked.
Broken bed, NO towels, cracked door to outside, no one cared about fixing problems, just absurd. I'm not particular about a place just to lay my head but it was crazy that we actually paid money to stay there. We wanted to bail but there was zero availability anywhere else.
That my money was returned.
Everything about the place . It was unsafe, dirty and in terrible condition.
I have traveled to many places and roughed it many times as well. Jack London Inn was one of the lowest points. The only thing that was okay was the wi-fi.
I could not walk barefoot as carpets had a stickiness to them and severe burn marks. Shower was very very moldy and cracked leaking onto the floor. There were only 2 lightbulbs working, the entrance hall and one in the bathroom. The TV had no remote The bathroom was repainted so badly it looked like a 5 year old crossing the lines in a coloring book. Towels were requested every 15 minutes on arrival and only received it the next day when a new manager was on duty and I had to fetch it myself. The safety of the lift is questionable as the inspection certificate expired in 2009. My door had to be kicked open. The magnetic lock had to be re-coded every day. The mold was so bad that I had to sleep with all the windows open. There was no telephone in the room The hallway carpet was being mopped, yes mopped a few times due to leaking water. I seriously wonder if the Inn would pass a safety inspection. It either needs to be re-furbished completely or knocked down.
There were no lights in the rooms for 3 nights. They couldn't provide the bulbs.
No tp, no towels, no remote control, wi fi kept dropping me, no place to hang our clothes, no light bulb in entry, had to take one from bedside lamp which wasn't plugged in and had to move to plug in, bathroom smelled of mold, bed was very uncomfortable remodeling going on in room above us very noisy at 8 am
Nothing except location.
Staff, Rooms, Bathrooms, Beds were to crunchy, Invites back pain. Dirty carpet, No Blankets, No heting or ventilation system works. No lamps in the whole room. Absolute blackout.
No blankets or towels, room was disgusting, and the cost was too high. For 90 bucks I should get a little more out of my stay. I will never return
Dirty, stinky, with insects for 70$ !!! Don't even think of it!
close to south san francisco ABOUT 12 MILE JUST OVER THE BAY BRIDGE. FOR THE PRICE IT WAS OK..
NO mini REFRIGRATER. no MICROWAVE.YOU HAVE TO BUY WATER OUT OF VENDING MACHINES AND IT WAS OUT OF WATER .NO TOWELS IN BATHROOM HAD TO GO DOWN TO FRONT DESK TO GET IT. TRAIN CROSSING RIGHT BESIDE THE HOTEL ON SAME STREET WITH LOUD HORN.
Worst place ever.....No phone in room, No towels in the room, No iron or ironing board in the room.....took 1 hr to get an iron to the room. Rooms were disgusting......floor had stains all over the place and curtains were full of either poop or blood on them. to top it off iron ruined my shirt!!! place sucks. and Booking.com should be ashamed to list this place as a 2.5 star hotel......This is a -1.0 Star at the best. Place is horrible.
No towels!!! How to shower? No blankets!!! Cold in the room. Dark as half the lights do not work. Other tourists were complaining about the exact same points at my check in. Owner should loose the hotel licence! It is a shame!
This hotel is a dream come true: a nightmare. Read all other reviews to find out why, it is unbelievable that such hotel exists and apparently can function for a long time. It is also unbelievable that booking.com still has this hotel in its choice of hotels. Avoid this hotel!
No towels. Had to ask for them. The towels provided were old and poor quality. There was no trash They didn't provide room clean up services
The free wifi was a great plus, the fact that it was near the water was great, and the shower was nice.
They wouldn't let us check in until 20 minutes AFTER our check in time, our room was lacking a phone and TV remote, the pictures on the website didn't match, one of the people working at the desk was rude, our bathroom had loose linoleum, and there was water problems while we were there.
Close to Yoshi's where we were going to eat and see a show.
Noise of the train every 15 minutes. Broken facet--NO WATER. They said they were booked up and could not place us in any rooms. No discounts for our discomforts. It was very embarrassing that I actually booked this for my girl friends! Never again. I do not recommend this place I should have listened to the bad reviews.
Take the train to Oakland for the weekend! Staying at the Jack London Inn is perfect: you can walk over to/from the Amtrak station; you can cross the street to the waterfront; eat delicious and healthy; browse the Saturday morning craft/flea market right there by the boats. Downtown Oakland is coming alive - full of a diversity of people biking, walking, eating, enjoying life. We happened by the Bicycle Coffee establishment and I ordered a dark roast, only to be told it was free Friday and on the house! What a pleasant surprise! And educational too, as I also learned that lighter roasted coffee has more caffeine content. An excellent weekend and only an hour on the train from San Jose. We hope to go again and highly recommend it.
Of course it is obvious and doesn't need saying that the INN desperately needs renovating. They are doing it, but very slowly room by room. Apparently the last owner had big plans some years back which fell through. This is a fantastic investment: fix it up, attract more customers - but please don't raise the rent TOO MUCH too fast. You will recoup your money as the entire area is on the upswing. Being close to the Amtrak station is an invaluable plus; this property is going to be a bonanza.
Facility has not been maintained well. No towels in the room. First room I was given had a plugged up toilet! Staff was nice and friendly and gave me another room.
