This is one of the friendliest hotels I have ever been to in...
This is one of the friendliest hotels I have ever been to in all my extensive travels. Everyone was super nice from the maid service to the front desk. We went in the middle of March midweek for 4 days for $917. What a great price for being a stones throw from Times square.
It was very clean, super water pressure and very large, clean bathroom. Had a desk and coffee maker and small refrigerator.
There is a really good place to eat two doors up called Cooks. It is very good and cheap for New York City. They have a big dinning area and bathroom upstairs. Make sure it is open. They charge 4% more for credit cards. Make sure they do not try to overcharge you. I have read many reviews stating they do so. We found the best place to buy souvenirs t-shirts, sweatshirts and other things are in Little Italy.. You can haggle for cheaper prices.
Highlights of our trip. One day we took the subway to Dumbo in Brooklyn. Go to the Brooklyn promenade. Go eat at Clark's restaurant and then walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Chinatown and Little Italy for lunch or dinner. Walk up to Soho to shop and go to Eileen's cheesecake shop. Best ever cheesecake. I got the Salted caramel and it was excellent. We saw Wicked and Chicago. I would highly recommend both of them. Did a statue of Liberty Cruise. Went to the top of the crown. Just book it at least a month ahead of time.

We were travelling with a person with a mobility scooter.
We were travelling with a person with a mobility scooter. Most attractions accommodate wheel chairs/disabled customers. Everybody was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The footpaths are really rough though, full of holes, uneven surfaces, the footpath ramps were mostly ok but some were too high and damaged. It was a bit of a challenge to navigate through so many pedestrians but overall was a satisfactory experience

Read up on travel tips for New York ahead of time.
Read up on travel tips for New York ahead of time. Get a 7 day Metro pass to make it easier to get around by subway and bus. We used Apple Maps to figure out how to walk or ride places. It told us best routes, how to get to stops, which line to use and when the next bus or subway was. Lots of different apps will do that. Bring extra phone charger. Make a plan ahead of time. Choose your major places and see what is available nearby then make a plan. Make reservations and buy tickets ahead.

Pretty much everything you would expect.
Pretty much everything you would expect. Lots of cool things to do, but lots of people. It seems like the city has gone downhill a little since the Giuliani Era, and I smelled pot on some of the streets near the Theatre District.

You can feel the energy 24/7.
You can feel the energy 24/7. It can be loud, but getting around is easy, either on-foot or by subway. So many great places to eat. A lot of local convenience stores for groceries and fresh produce. Don't limit yourself to Manhattan - lots of great places in Brooklyn and Long Island.
If you want to get away from the noise, go to Governors Island using the ferry (next to Staten Island ferry station).. Great views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

Overall NYC is expensive. More so after the pandemic.
Overall NYC is expensive. More so after the pandemic. A meal at a place like Chipotle is between 18 - 20 dollars with a cola and tips. A meal at a restaurant with one beer or wine and one dish of main course is 40 dollars with tips. Public transportation is good but a bit confusing.
New York has changed a lot since I was here in 2008. Some parts of the city are quite unclean and lots of homeless people.
Three days is good for NYC visit if planned well.
The hotel is very well located, 5min walk to the closest subway, coffee shops and convenience stores all there.
You can also walk to Times Square, ~20min.
There is a fitness room downstairs although a small one.
Initially we had a room facing the street with no special view, we then moved to a high floor room with a superb view of Manhattan - partial of course - skyline.
The beds were comfortable and we had enough space in the closet.
The staff was always corteous and willing to help, mainly in reception but also housekeeping.
My recent stay was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Hotel Manager Allen. The hotel's prime location near Times Square allowed me to explore the city effortlessly, and the breakfast offerings were impressive in both variety and quality. The overall cleanliness and warm atmosphere of the hotel made for a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Hyatt Place New York City/Times Square to anyone visiting New York, and I look forward to returning in the future.
The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Manhattan. The hotel is in fact located right next to the station stop (34 St-Herald Sq) and from 34 street, in about half an hour by metro you can reach both the north and south parts of the island. In Herald Square there is also a CityBike station and bicycles are very convenient for getting around in summer. Furthermore, numerous attractions can be reached within walking distance (Times Square, Empire State Building, etc.).
Location is excellent, right in midtown manhattan, easy access to all the sights and areas of NYC. The room is small, but so are all the rooms in NYC really, the bed is huge and very comfortable and that is all you need when visiting this city. We didn't have any issues with space. Having travelled in various areas of the world and stayed in some luxurious accommodation, this place is perfectly acceptable for new york. Safe, comfortable, warm, convenient, cheap.
It is in a great location. A couple of blocks away from Times Square and the subway station. We had the room with a city view, which made it a little bit nicer. The bathroom was very nice. Rooms are not that big, but enough to be comfortable. The hotel has a bar on the first floor, so was great to have some drinks at night. Breakfast was awesome! It had a lot of healthy options and the room was big so you could sit fast. A great hotel to enjoy New York City!
We had a great experience at the Moderne NYC. The location was excellent, with Columbus circle a very short walk, and easy distance for Times Square. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and a good size for New York. Best of all were the team- we spent a week at the hotel and everyone we met was kind and accommodating.
We will book here again the next time we’re in New York.
Location is good. Walking distance to many of the sights in Central Manhattan, like Central Park and the NH Museum or Times Square in the other direction. Friendly staff. Room was well appointed and kept very clean (but see size comment below). Hotel has a comfortable bar for a nightcap or light snack.
Best view of Manhattan. U can see all the skyscrapers. Tram ride is the best. Riding between the houses is cool. From there 15 minutes to central Park. Ferry Ride to Wall street is nice. Hotel is quiet, Not in the loud City Center. Friendly people. Taxi from times Square about 35 $
The Royal Hotel, excellent, fantastic, the holes that very accommodating. I was well welcome, very clean, very elegant. I felt like I was in Japan at the new Ohtani hotel in Tokyo. I will continue to come to this hotel I have my time peace enjoyment in New York City.
Great location. Times Square is across the street from the hotel. Best Manhattan attractions are within walking distance. There is subway nearby - lines in different directions.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but comfortable.
Couldn't ask for a better location bang in the middle of Manhattan and for a reasonable price too. Situated between multiple subway stations, places to eat and Times Square just around the corner. This was perfect for a first time traveller to New York.
Hotel is located in mid-town Manhattan, along Bryant Park. Lots of attractions within walking distance, such as Times Square, 5th Avenue shops, the Museum of Modern Art and Central Park. Decent room size for this part of Manhattan.
Loved the location near times square. The room size was expected given New York City. But a good use of space, and a nice modern, clean room. The hotels recommendation of the city parking garage two avenues away was great…
This was by far the cheapest hotel we could find close to Times Square. The room was large with good AC. It was a family room, two queens, and a bunk. We were 4 adults over 21 with enough room and a good shower.
Room was good, but shower wasn’t good and a wash basin tap dripped all night (we wrapped it in a towel so we would not hear the dripping). For a relatively inexpensive New York City hotel, it wasn’t bad.
The Palace/Towers is arguably the best located hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Service all around is outstanding. A little pricey, but NYC as a whole is pricey. Great place to stay if visiting New York City.
Location downtown was very close to everything near Times Square.. Very clean and modern room with fantastic view of city. Staff very nice and attentive. Rooftop bar was very nice.
One staff member was very nice but the staff member that checked me out was rude. It was a nice location in the city but there were better hotels for cheaper rates.
Location was outstanding. This hotel offer;s the best for visits to New York city for shows and times square. Very Safe for all. I am very Happy with this hotel.
It is centrally located if you are looking to do tourist activities near Times Square. It is close to public transit for easy access to the rest of the city.
