Breakfast Value for money for family of 4 including the breakfast Close to highways, beach and shopping area
No kettle in room but at least coffee and tea and warm water at reception
Clean comfortable rooms, great value for your dollar and a stones throw from the beach. If you're the kind of person that just uses your hotel just as a base of operations for your stay then you'll like this hotel. If you're looking for all the extra amenities then find another spot and pay the long dollar.
No pool but who cares, Venice beach is just down the street.
Good to stay...
Pool was on the other side of the street and very small.
Very good location - within walking distance of Venice Beach
Facilities look a bit old, could use some renovations - but overall good.
Nice continental breakfast and was fairly quiet.
First, when the man finally came out to assist us, his breath and clothes reeked of marijuana, you could almost see the cloud of smoke follow him. Ok, perhaps it was medicinal (whatever) but not a good first impression when one has health problems of their own. Second, we booked earlier in the day at the advertised discount rate based on other reviews. They stuck us in a separate part of the hotel that was not even on the property, but rather around the block, hard to find in the dark, old and rundown. Did not feel safe. Third, the tv didn't work. Maybe the main building might have been nicer but we'll never know being that we'll never go back.
location, staff and breakfast
the carpet was old and dirty the sheets and coverlet of the bed was too giving the impression of a dirty room
Good location. Close to my job. Secure parking facility.
WiFi was kind of iffy at times. Old time tube TV - low definition. You would think that it might be time to upgrade to digital flat panels,,, They offer a great highdef channel selection on demand,,,, too bad you have to watch it on a blurry 19" Sony tube
Jacuzzi was sooooo nice!
Comfortable room, fairly well located if you have a car and know the area.
Breakfast is minimal. Heavy traffic if you want Santa Monica. Corner of Abbott Kinney but couple of miles from the shopping district. Inconvenient Jacuzzi.
Great location. 20minute drive to LAX airport. 15 minutes walk from Venice Beach and Marina Del Rey is across the street. Great restaurants next door and across the street. Friendly staff. Good continental breakfast.
Room needs updating as the decoration was quite old and in need of a spruce up. Quite pricey for what you get but I guess we were paying for the location.
Great location. Hotel was clean and quiet with good breakfast options.
Good location, free parking, very comfortable bed, good, strong shower jet, fridge and microwave in room, 'waterfall' in inside court yard sounded lovely and added a unique touch not often found in many hotels.
The continental breakfast was very minimal using plastic cutlery and paper plates. The coffee was weak. The hot tub was located on the outside of the building right on the street, albeit one level up. At $125 per night I thought it was a bit pricy for what we got. Adding a better breakfast would greatly improve the overall experience!
Location was okay. Room was nice and big - minimal furnishings.
This place needs lots of help. The room we had was that n poor condition. The bathroom had mold around the tub and mold around the shower walls. There is a hole in the bathroom floor and some stuck paper in it instead od removing and replacing the broken tile. The lobby was Decent to lure you in to think the placemwas like that every where. We wrer too tired to complaints n after driving a considerable amount ay and made the best of it. We could hardly wait to check out of the ppace the next morning
Staff seemed friendly and helpful. Wifi worked perfectly
They accidentally double charged my visa because of problems with pre-authorization. Which is an unnecessary hassle to deal with.
Breakfast was awful
Limited breakfast area.
Beds really comfortable. Location suits our needs. Has good parking spaces. Staff always helpful.
Lighting.....everywhere seems dark. No tea/coffee making in the room; yes it's available in reception, but that's a long way from rooms.
Very friendly with customers. Clean rooms
It's okay for its standard
Offbeat quality of facility and diversity of guests--but especially Dan at the front desk.
No HBO, rude room staff, had visited singly in the past but this time brought my wife, which was a mistake--there were cleanliness issues and towels and bedding didn't appear fresh. Not at all a value for the $175/night total price.
When we arrived after a 6 hour drive from Arizona @ 3:00am, we were greeted by a slow unfriendly man. Once we got to our room we were so disappointed in the poor conditions of the room. Not very clean very old in need of major updates. I immediately went down and cancelled our 2nd night. I was charged $179.00 for 7 hours in a dump. Not to mention parking was very poor. We found a wonderful Quality Inn with great rooms excellent service the next night for $90.00. I will never recommend or stay at The jolly Roger. Sincerely, Sabrina Kampfe
TV did not work
Person who checked us in was friendly and helpful. Breakfast attendant warm and accommodating. Hotel convenient with a good mix of travelers and comfortable.
Front desk worker the morning we left defined bad service. The lobby has computer and printer for guests, and we needed to print tickets. The printer was out of toner, and he refused to fix. I offered to email him the ticket and he could print from his terminal. He refused saying he wasn't allowed. He suggested we print at a nearby coffee shop but couldn't give us the location or name. Although our other interactions were pleasant, this put a damper on the experience.
