Close to dock
Did have room I reserved.
Free shuttle service was big money saver. Restaurant great for breakfast.
A bit out of the way in not nice area. Old style motel with walk up to 3rd floor. But was clean and comfortable for a budget accomodation.
Location is close to downtown. Pick up and drop off at ferry and airport. Excellent staff. Sandpiper restaurant right next door.
I really can't think of a single thing to complain about.
A grocery store is Right next to the hotel.
Free pick up from airport and back was good for me. Sandpaper cafe next to hotel was excellent for breakfast
Walls of rooms thin so can here neighbours.I was not unduly bothered by this as hotel nothing like full
Showers Clean Helpful with early arrival
Lights didn't work on one circuit in the apartment. Apartment smelt a little musty downstairs room was fine
Location. Shuttle service. Price.
Location, apartment size and 2 bedrooms were a great asset. Quick easy check-in and out.
This is a basic motor-court-motel type establishment. Clean, with a decent bed.
Waited nearly an hour and a half at the airport for the shuttle to pick me up. On the way home from Alaska, I also had a tight turn-around, and stayed at a hotel within walking distance of the airport. I discovered that many other people had done the same thing. Evidently the shuttle staffing for many hotels isn't really adequate in high season.
The staff was very friendly.
We stayed at this hotel on 2 different nights in one week. The windows were broken and would not open which made it way too HOT to sleep; no working thermostat; small, old T.V.'s with bad pictures. The second time we stayed there that week, the T.V. was on the floor with a bunch of cables and was not connected until WE did so! There were no trial size shampoos and such - just a small bar of soap. The only good thing about this place is the staff and the shuttle driver, John.
airport shuttle near downtown
noisy at night outdated staff unorganized
Do not accept rooms 217 or 218 if you want to sleep. They are right above the office and the night employee appears to invite his friends over and have a loud get together. Also people start checking in around 5 and 6 sometimes and you can hear them. Just normal conversation can be heard easily enough to wake you. Other than that it's not bad for the money.
Location away from cruise ship crowds and close to grocery store; easy waling distance downtown; free shuttle.
I missed some of the old staff, having stayed at the Driftwood a number of times. There is never shampoo in the rooms.
Friendly helpful staff, central location, close to town, shuttle to and from hotel. very convenient
Seemed to have some difficulty with the booking, but everything worked out.
It was clean, good location, loved the characters that work there. It was an overall pleasant experience and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. They were accommodating and shuttled us where we needed to be. Grocery store less than a block away with great selection. I did not come to Alaska for the room. You could also walk to a number of great restaurants, museums
It WAS old, needs a little updating. Kitchen and TV needed a lift.
In the center of town and the transport-shuttle(Airport-city-airport)
Very bad service from the Front-desk! Room are bad.
The location was great, a few blocks from downtown and near bus station, but just far enough away from the cruise ship chaos. Free shuttle bus from ferry terminal was handy. Good kitchen, with enough equipment to cook a full meal. On-site laundromat, good if you are on a longer-trip. Helpful staff. Near supermarket, deli and liquor store. Tourist literature in room. Large rooms.
The museum behind the hotel is being demolished and rebuilt, so there was a lot of noise quite early in the morning. Not the fault of the hotel obviously, but you might like to take earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Also had to wait over 40 mins for shuttle when we arrived on ferry, despite pre-arranging with hotel AND calling them on the day when we arrived.
Rooms were small, furniture was ancient. Our friends were in a room that had been "remodeled" with newer furnishings, but it didn't help much. A lot of money to pay for the convenience of being downtown. All the hotels outside of downtown seem to operate shuttles and the city bus system works well.
The bathroom was very clean, the towels were fantastic. The rant desk staff were efficient and thoughtful.
The room was very small, the blanket was stained, the bedspread didn't seems clean, the shuttle driver was unable to take us directly from the airport to the hotel. He was scheduled to pick up more clients at the ferry dock, which is the opposite direction from the hotel. It took an hour to get to the hotel from the airport. We were beyond tired at that point. The driver seemed ti have many fans aiming the clients. We were not among them. Maybe because we were too tired.
Good location to downtown. Next to state museum (closed until 2016). Great for sports fisherman as freezer is available to store your fish. Free shuttle to ferry terminal and airport.
Facility could use refurbishment.
Clean and convenient!
Musty smell and needs updating
Location, Location, Location! Staff was very nice and price couldn't be beat!
The hotel needs updating. But then I didn't see a hotel looking a whole lot better. TV sets are at least 10 years old. Everything was clean, I just felt like I was transported back to the 80's.
the staff was friendly and helpful. The laundry facilities and free airport shuttle were very handy. The location is very convenient.
Position Driver man..very friendly and funny
Staff very rude. Room smell of smoke. Transfer to the ferry and airport very poor: when we arrived we waited 1hour, when we left they taked us to the ferry 2,5 hours before..at 5 o'clok in the morning. The staff is not us Alaska style. Price too high compare the quality of the room and the service
I liked the downtown location with free shuttle to and from airport. The staff was friendly and helpful.
