Slightly a little further away from Dupont Circle than preferred but all of the other positives make up for this.
Free cheese and wine hour every afternoon, you can't miss it! Amazing and helpful staff. Couldn't fault our stay!
It was a superior room but really small (not too much space)
Located in a very nice peaceful area
The beds are a bit too small.
The distance to the subway is nice en easy. Great restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Very nice location near Dupont Circle, excellent staff who were very helpful with directions. We slept well in a comfortable bed.
none so far
Wi-Fi is free but can be slow at times. Only one elevator.
Great location within walking distance to metro and a lot of restaurants. Recently renovated rooms. Friendly staff.
The room (w/ 2 double beds) was small -- which would have been okay, except that the walls, wood door frames, doors, etc. needed a solid scrubbing and fresh paint. The rug and our comforters needed a good cleaning too.
We liked the location and the staff. The free breakfast didn't apply since we got the room through Booking.com. The kids had free breakfast, so that was good. The size of the hotel is nice – not too large and not cookie-cutter.
We did not like the nondescript 2 bedded rooms on the 6th floor which were cramped with low ceilings. The room was hot and the thermostat didn't seem to work so we opened the windows. However, noise from folks partying on the front patio disturbed us until 11.40 p.m. when I called the front desk. Overall, the hotel is looking a little tired. It can be a bit of an uphill hike from Dupont Circle if you are carrying luggage.
This was our third visit to the Normandy in 2 years. The hotel has a welcoming ambience with comfortable sitting areas for conversation and a pleasant breakfast area and patio area adjacent, as well as a front patio. On the website the rooms appear to be pretty and of a reasonable standard and, in fact, this has been our experience the previous 2 stays. The bathrooms and particularly the shower are of a high standard. Staff pleasant and helpful.
The breakfast is convenient, but it is expensive for what is provided. Better to head nearby to Kramer books.
The staff were welcoming and the room and bathroom were lovely and comfortable.
The breakfast isn't up to much, but it's ok
The staff are very friendly, the room is very nice.
The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The location was close to everything but away from the hustle and bustle. The room was clean and comfortable.
The minute we walked in the door, we were invited to a wine and cheese reception and told to go relax, while they took care of our bags and car. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Was dirty. I swear somebody used the bed skirt as a drop cloth to paint the room. Which was done poorly. It had paint and stains all over it. The head board was covered in stains. There was, at least I hope it was. Dryed caked on lotion on desk, TV and night stand. Light fixtures falling down.
The modern decor.
Requested an upper floor and was put on the ground floor, right next to the staff entrance, so quite noisy in the AM.
Location. Spacious room.
Close to DuPont Circle but it is a walk and part of it was uphill. Not a bad thing but something to note.
Great bed, elegant ambian
Very nice location and the staff were lovely.
Nothing was bad. Not surprisingly, parking is expensive, but not more than other hotels.
The wine hour, the bathrooms, the decor, the helpful staff
A charming small hotel with very friendly staff. Comfortable room, small but okay. Free WiFi, free wine served between 5-6pm.
The hotel staff was friendly, but unhelpful. My boyfriend and I returned to the room at 11pm on Saturday night to the temperature in the room being at 97 DEGREES. It was intolerable and their fix was to open the window and door to the room to get the temperature down. The thermostat was merely decoration and we needed to physically have them turn the radiator off to solve the problems. Completely ridiculous and there was no mention of reducing the cost of the room or moving us to another better room with working heat. Not cool.
The location and amenities in the room were fine. The room was TINY, but that's to be expected in a metro area.
Rooms were smaller than expected with little extra "leg room".
Facility was very clean.. Bathrooms were updated and excellent. Bed linens of good quality. Staff very helpful and friendly. Restaurant recommendations were great. The wine and cheese hour was a wonderful touch....if only the fireplace had been burning! Nice place.
The service is beyond exceptional. It is highly personal alwYs anticipating a guests needs. While we were there my Dad took ill and they went above and beyond to ensure of his comfort and care and mine! I would recommend the Normandy for both business and pleasure to all.
Breakfast rather expensive (12$) for its contents, and very sluggish machine to get water for the tea (or coffee).
Quiet room, with all commodities.
Paying extra for parking!
Everything from staff to the comfort of hotel, room and location.
Not a bad experience, but rather a request. It is often not easy for a business traveller to return before 6 PM. I very much liked the idea of complementary wine, but would have liked the time it was served extended to 7.
The staff was particularly outstanding. Charlie, Robert and Adrienne always had a welcoming smile, and kind words when I left in the morning and returned after a long day. They dealt with any problems I had quickly and competently--for example, the safe door had been closed and needed to be unlocked. They made my stay!
noisy people in the room next door
quiet safe area
