Pillows and cleanliness were good. Staff was very accommodating when we needed to change rooms, directions, or extra supplies in our room. The location of the hotel was great, however. Staff (valet and bar) were not always available (understaffed). First room (inside room), was small, with a thermostat that was broken, and windows that did not open. Horrible smell near the front desk when we arrived.

Staff were super friendly and helpful - their reputation for excellent customer service is well deserved. No request was too difficult to service, their business centre is simple, but easy to use, and the food is very good. Had a very noisy room at first - some kind of industrial unit outside my window kept me up all night and threw my jet lag recovery plan out for the rest of the trip. I was disappointed that the room had no facilities for tea/coffee/minibar, I would expect this as a bare minimum courtesy in a 4/5 star hotel, and this is why I spend the extra money when I travel on business, as I need to spend extended periods in my room working. It shouldn't be too hard to provide this, especially for what is charged for the rooms. Unfortunately, even though many aspects of the hotel were excellent, I won't be returning (for a business stay) for this reason alone.

This hotel felt like a proper 5* institution should feel: luxurious, comfortable, brimming over with attention to detail and amazing service. I cannot fault this place. The location was great, the facilities excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and as a business woman travelling on my own, the restaurant staff in particular almost went out of their way to look after me! I will definitely come here again...

Location was good Staff screwed up our arrival date/departure. Made it sound like it was not their error. Did correct the matter, but did little to compensate for our stress. Kind of expensive for what we got

From the moment we arrived, the help at the front door was wonderful. I arrived a day ahead of my husband with my two children and I couldn't of asked for a friendlier doorman or valet. It was a great start to begin our stay. The room we had was clean and comfortable although we had absolutely no view (which was fine since we spent most of our time walking the city of Boston.) The location was good. At first it seemed as if we were away from everything but once we got our bearings on our location we realized we were in a great spot. We were 2 blocks from Boylston St. And 3 from Newbury (high end shopping). A Few blocks from Copley Square and the Prudential Center. Walking in the other direction we were a few blocks from the Boston Common and just beyond was Historical Boston, the waterfront, and Faneuil Hall. I would recommend the Hop and off Trolley, it gives you a great sense of direction and a lot of interesting facts about the city as for driving our car remained parked for the entire trip. Boston is a very easy city to navigate on foot not too large but plenty to see and do. We will definitely go back and would most definitely stay at the Back Bay Hotel again. The price of parking was quite expensive.

The location was great and the staff (particularly the door men) were very welcoming. The cleaners were also very professional and pleasant. Nice toiletries too. The decor of the rooms is not appealing. Fusty in style, very 70s. It would be great if they were redecorated.

This is a beautiful hotel with great design aspects. The rooms are very attractive. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The beds are of a high quality and everything is spotless. The food in general is not of a 5 star quality. The main restaurant is not open for lunch nor is it open on Sunday for dinner. The option is 'Cuffs', a bar with food. The food is not bad but not interesting either. The selections are quite limited. The breakfast buffet is also limited, especially considering the price. The room service menu is not worth bothering with, though it is open 24 hours, a real plus. This hotel should try to open a fine restaurant on its premises.

Loved the location. Staff wonderful . Did not realise it was part of the Doyle Group of hotels until I checked in. Loved the artwork. Will use the hotel on my next visit. The bar area could do with some attention. It's very uninviting in its decor.

We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was well located in the city. We probably won't return to the hotel. It seemed to us that the hotel wants to be upper tiered but in reality it wasn't much more than a Hilton. Next time we book a trip it'll probably be to the Hilton
