Facilities are great as is the staff.
Booking.com price is not representative of what your price will actually be after substantial taxes and "convenience fees" are attached. Our room went from $199 per night to $426. Also, no prices on drink options. One shot of "premium" tequila cost me $32.00. (Cuervo 1942). Price was not an issue. If I was a penny pincher, a stay at JW Marriott wouldn't be an option. Fairness and being upfront is an issue for me and I think neither was provided. This might be a no issue for the business traveler or whales, but those of us that make a very good living, it isn't prudent to opting in on $32 tequila shots. If I knew, I would have opted for something more reasonable. BTW, no one asked me where they should mail my new José Cuervo stock shares.

Didnt make my room, at night when i arrived to my room it was undone, didnt like it.
the room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable.
It was hard to get service anywhere at the hotel. There was a massive disconnect between the price and staffing levels. The 'poolside service' is a bar I queued at for half an hour to get an unpleasant drink and a choice of 4 sandwiches. Loud music everywhere.
I liked that our king bed was new. The Waterpark was fun. The food at Cibola Moon was delicious and buffet had good variety, food tasted homemade. Service wS excellent, prices reasonable.
The sofa bed in king room small very uncomfortable for the kids. We could feel the springs. Rooms are small, not much counter space in bathroom. Resort said they charge extra $80 for tiny balcony with 2 chairs (to make us "feel" like we were getting an upgrade by not charging us that...really?? Extra $80 for ridiculous tiny balcony...we didn't sit out there anyway and it was "free" for us during this visit! Also, we paid our bill In Full before we left and got another bill for extra $38 anyway....really!!?? (Still settling that one!!)
Would have liked more restaurants so they wait time would not be so long.
Everyone on staff worked together as a team. Enjoyed the lazy pool with my family and the movie in the evenings.
This is a resort atmosphere but no kitchenette. Area where the movie is too small.

I had 2 rooms and was spending over 500 a day at this resort and they were letting people in the pool that did not have rooms and it was so crowded we could not even get a place to put our things to enjoy the amenities we were paying for. Very frustrating and took away what could have been a pleasant weekend. Shame on them for not having a better system in place to allow for the paying guests to utilize the amenities.

We booked a room with 2 double beds and were told we could only get a king with a fold out couch...very disappointed since we were there for special birthday celebrations.
Great staff that was super friendly but didn't bug you. Every need I had was met immediately We had a great time!
My bed was a Murphy bed and I was assurred it was just as comfortable as a traditional bed. It wasn't.
My boys loved the water area. I loved that all the staff recognized and said hello to my boys and say happy birthday.
That I asked for a king suite and was given a double but was changed as soon as possible.
Kid activities Lazy river Valet and concierge
The sports bar had VERY slow service. The value was good, but we wouldn't go back because the service was terrible. We waited 25 minutes for a soda and that was after asking 3 different waitresses.
The waterpark area for kids were great and kept our 10 year olds entertained. The food was great...loved the sports bar....great activities for the kids beyond the pool. Spa was amazing.
Only complaint, and it is a slight one, but the drinks from the bar if it was a mix was actually pretty poor. Personal preference maybe, but both the margarita & pina colada tasted very off.
The bars, pools, billiard table and helpfulness of staff address all great.
Smaller children running up and down the halls to and from the elevators beginning at 7:30am, valet services took over an hour, concierge not super helpful, spa was nothing special, took over an hour in line to check in and the room we reserved was not the room we ended up with.

Having to walk up and down a long steep hill to get to the entrance after parking your car and being passed up by multi-passenger gulf carts, and not being asked for a lift or assistance. Very frustrating!!!! The dining was horrible for the price. Having to go off premise to receive a decent and affordable meal was also very frustrating!!!! Some of the activities for the price was unreasonable for instance bike rentals were ridiculously priced and again very frustrating!!!! Over all the prices for the dining, and activities was unreasonable for what you had to pay for the room per night; I expected BETTER. We had more fun off premise than on, in which a cheaper hotel with less amenities would have been BETTER. The cost of dining and activities on premise averaged double what was offered off premise and the quality was substandard. If your plans are to go and stay on premise with a family with older children to enjoy a leisure vacation the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort is NOT for you; seek other accommodations.

Restaurant 18 Hole fine and dining would not go there again. Even though the bartenders, waiters, and food was excellent (give them a score of 10), waited too long for the food to be served, would not go there again for the money we spent.
The location was wonderful and I felt the facilities were well maintained.
Knowing I had children with me, the front desk clearly never once informed me that we needed a bracelet to get into the waterpark. Had I known, I could have grabbed them (I didn't even know the location) on the way up to our room. Instead, I dressed the kids and went down and was stopped and had to take them all the way into the lobby again. This is frustrating with a crying three year old.
