I visit the island regularly and know I wanted to stay in West Maui. Convenient location, room was comfortably equipped. Most was expected from an older property with not a lot of updating. Since I am not traveling for a vacation, I can overlook a lot.
Was generally cleaned but looked and felt like it needed a really deep cleaning. Welcomed by many cock roaches which did not scatter when I turned on the lights, even one in the mini fridge. The room was musty smelling which was probably due to the carpet, tile would be much better.
The location was good. Parking was good except that they do charge for parking. Close to the beach.
The room was very old and not updated. The sliding door could barely open. There is no elevator for handicap and therefore we had a problem with our luggage. No privacy on the small balcony. They charge for parking. The pools are not conveniently located.
The only place on the island we stayed with air conditioning!
Our room backed directly up to the Luau facilities for the bigger resort that this tiny hotel resides on. That would have been fine had it not been rented out that night for some narcotics annonymous gathering. Thank goodness we left the kiddos home. The room had an overwhelmingly pungent odor of mold and the wall treatment seemed to be melting off the walls. The shower was tiny and dark too.
That it was affiliated with Royal Lahania and we could use all their amenities. Nice pools, pool bar, right on the ocean! Very clean grounds. Staff was very nice at front desk as well as housekeeping. Would go back after getting passed the initial surprise!
Room had a bit of old smell. Definitely older carpets/shower with rubber curtains .Air conditioner didn't work so we changed rooms which was great! However, for the price & location it was a great find!! We added 3 days to our trip and enjoyed being here until we moved on to Kihei.
Beds are comfortable and clean Staff is great Location couldn't be better
Old facility Needs updating and common repair
this was the poor cousin of the Grand Lahana resort. the pool, restaurant and beach were better than I expected. the location could not be better and the room was clean and a nice balcony too. Went to the Luoa. It was good value.
The location right on the beach and the use of the Royal Lahaina facilities and grounds. Also, a comfortable size (3 stories) and homey feel. Staff & management extremely accommodating and friendly.
The roof needs fixing. We had to change our room. The flooring would be better if tiled instead of carpeted.
Staff was good. Nice sized room.
Luau is noisy and takes all the nearby parking. Parking spaces are too narrow for a minivan or regular sized SUV. Room did not have a microwave. No elevator.
I liked the Breakfast Buffet, its worth the $23, How close it was to the beach, and how it has a Gym.
Its a very old building, everything is outdated, it smells, bathroom look very dirty, overal looks arent that great, they charge you for everything, parking (nightly) even if your staying there, parking is hard to find, parking spots are miniture, it took them 35mn for them to get a hairdryer to my room, the ceiling was leaking, and its not that visible. Especially when looking for your Room... Its similar to a motel6 but in Hawaii..
Very best location in Lahani. Great food. Great staff. They do charge for parking your rental and umbrellas and chairs on the beach, but so do all the other resorts. Best snorkeling just up the beach from the hotel. If you want location this is the place. Modern and sleek? Go elsewhere but you will never have the sunset and snorkeling this place has.
The older side of the resort is dated and could use a hand of paint and new carpet.
It was on the site of Royal Lahaina hotel and right on the beach. We got an ocean front room which was neat and clean. Great price and location. I would have never guessed we would get a hotel in that location for that price.Great snorkeling. I would stay there again
The lower level must have been flooded out during a hurricane. You have to be able to over look that kinda thing.
We stayed here just one night, just to sleep. The location on the beautifil beach of Kaanapali is the only thing we liked!
We didn't like the shower, we also found some hairs in it. The building is very poor and old. Too much noises.
For the price, it was excellent, however they do need to do some renovations.
Bathrooms could do with renovating. I noticed some of the ground floor rooms were being renovated, so perhaps it is all happening soon.
I was so impressed. When my reservation was confusing, the hotel didn't just blow me off. They gave me a $400.00 room per night for the $159 guaranted by the booking company. That is a rarity and I was so thankful for not inconveincing me and making me scramble to find a new hotel.
You can here the waves from the ocean, relaxing and easy access to the shore for morning walks or swming.
The facility is old but they are in renovation.
Great beach. Great resort. Loved the ceilings, they should leave them as they are. Great lanai but sliders need replaced. Loved the louvered shutters. I would definitely visit again just for the resort and location.
Our building was OLD and is probably getting remodeled soon. Baths need serious updating. Sliding glass doors have seen better days, not airtight, rolled difficultly.
The best thing this place has going for it is it's location on an awesome stretch of Ka'anapali beach. This part if the beach has lots of nice sand, and is very swimable. We saw the resident pod of Spinner dolphins playing just off shore.
The inn is ancient. It looks like the ground floor is not being used at all. Our unit was relatively clean except for the occasional cockroach. We did not sleep well due to a faulty smoke alarm in the hallway. It would go off randomly throughout the night. We reported it twice but it never got fixed. The Royal Lahaina Luau is right next door. We watched some of the show from our lanai the first night. After that it was just loud and annoying. If you go to bed early this won't work for you. Parking was so difficult due to the nightly luau. The ocean was cleaner than the pool. It was all murky and we never actually saw anyone in it.
View was beautiful
The AC was not working but the service maintenance came with fans.
We enjoyed everything about our stay. The Kaanapali Ocean Inn is part of the Royal Lahaina Resort, with all it's amenity's included. It is an older building right on the beach with the luau next door which we could watch, we even learned how to hula. We were able to view 5 islands and dolphins from our room.....absolutely stunning. The shuttle services were excellent too.
Staff friendly & location excellent
Bugs on "kitchen" (tiny corner) counter, bugs on bathroom counter, dirty corners of floor, dirty carpet, creaky balcony door, creaky mattress (could feel the springs, overall just not so great.
The fact that they moved me into the Royal Lahaina next door when in rained all over my bed.
I had paid $200 extra for an Ocean View room that had no ocean view. The room had a dank, moldy smell
Ocean view room. Located close to good snorkeling and beach and the trolley. The refrigerator was nice to have.
The room needed updating. The shower flooded the first night. Next door neighbors smoked on the lanai so we had to keep our door closed. We had a nonsmoking room. Walls were thin and we could hear our neighbors.
Loved the location. It was clean; there were no bugs!!! The beach was extremely close and Beautiful. It was very nice to use all of the Royal Lahaina Resort facilities (especially the ice cream shop!). It was very close to major attractions. I would go back anytime; hopefully next year.
I would prefer to not be on the side facing the luau.
Loved the proximity to the beach and the great rate. The room, although older, was very pleasant and clean.
Ridiculously narrow parking spaces.
We did not get any help in directions to our building, floor or room, but we enjoyed the old fashioned but very clean room. We had a great view from our little deck. We would go there again for a short time between our two timeshares.
Booking.com did not give directions to where to check in. We lost our parking to Luau attendees.
