Kaanapali Ocean Inn    

I loved my room 1622! The view was spectacular, proximity to the beach was incredible! The value was outstanding! It's a hidden gem where for a motel price you get a luxury resort view. The staff was really friendly and they accommodated everything I requested! I've had an amazing experience, I'd like to stay in room 1620 next time.

Queen bed was more like twin size and a bit uncomfortable. No blow dryer in the bathroom. No ice machine on building premises.

The location, beach walk, pools and the beach. The staff were very friendly on the most part.

The room needed major remodeling. There was mold in the shower the carpet in the room was yucky and the carpets in the hall were old dirty and need replacing.

Everything, good value for the money. Only 3 miles from Lahaina, good beach and pools, access to beach walkways north and south, spacious room.

Lanai light didn't work.

The room was a good size however we would have preferred to be directly on the oceanfront and not in a side room. The room was good value for money however.

We stayed in room 1616 and there was a continuous noise at night (may have been a generator or the hotels air conditioning unit) which seemed to be above our beds. Didn't like to go up and down the 2 flights of stairs and would recommend an elevator be installed.

The view was amazing. Location perfect. We could walk out on the lanai and see whales and the ocean RIGHT THERE. If you want to go to the beach for the beach, this place is affordable. We couldn't have afforded to stay ON the beach like this at any of the other resorts.

This is definately a "budget" hotel. Although at around 200$ a night, still wasn't cheap. RIGHT next to our room (and I mean RIGHT next to it) there is a luau. When I say next to, I mean the roof of the sound room was attached to our balcony. So for the first night or two - not too bad. But after awhile it was really annoying. When you are tired from playing all day and want to relax...not going to happen. The air conditioner sounded like it was a jet engine. Not that you need it, but again, if you want to shut the noise from the luau out - you need to shut the door, then it gets kind of humid in there. The bed was also really hard. Again, the price made it worth it all since what we really wanted was access to the beach, and that is what we got. But if we had small children with us, I wouldn't recommend it.

The Ocean Inn is associated with the newRoyal Lihinha Hotel. It is very old but you get to use the new and much more expensive ammenitites at the Royal part of the complex. Beautiful area of Maui....fabulous beach. Budget people will like it.

Roof leaked during rain

Fantastic location for walking the beach and snorkeling. Great restaurant called the Castaway next door and the hotel restaurant was good too.

Some of the guests were too noisy. The walls were a little thin.

Nothing at all!

The toe-nail clippings left on the bathroom counter, the hairs and the sand left in the shower. Two light bulbs were burned out in our room. The front desk person tried to charge me twice for the room.

Amazing location right on the beach. We got a room upgrade and got to stay in one of the cottages for the same price.

Original reservations advised that handicap options necessary. At check-in needed to upgrade to accomodate my husband who could not climb stairs. This was an added expense that was not anticipated. Fees were not waived by hotel.

Walls were dirty; mold, exposed electrical wire & peeling paint in bathroom, room smelled, bed linens old, safe use charge, no ice machine on site- on 3rd floor of adjoining hotel, no elevator, parking $15 @ day, front desk said no other rooms available.

Location is on the beach and the royal Hawaiian resort has a great property.

you could feel the springs in the bed The room smelled moldy there was mold in the room wallpaper was coming off the wall I believe they were remodeling the floor below, however I don't believe the room we stayed in did the resort justice. It was a very poorly kept room, in an otherwise clean and friendly resort.

Location and Cleaniness

The hotel, while old (think, Don Ho) was also well cared for and the staff were very friendly.

The rooms were pretty old and some stuff just couldn't be maintained--the rust in the bathroom ceiling and the ongoing water leak that spread onto the carpet in our room--but overall, I liked the place.

The location is good, on the beach.

The Ocean Inn part is the old and badly kept part of a bigger resort (I.E. it's falling apart), which means doors that do not open easily, telephone that does not work, shower that smells, lights that do not work, safe with 2 rows of digits that do not work and that resets closed upon power failure, very poor noise isolation from neighbour room. To this you might well add that this is far from being a design hotel, which is the only thing to be fair forthe price.

I was lied to by the person that I talked to to book the room. I asked if there was an elevator for my wife that has limited mobility that stairs irritate. I was assured that there was one which was not true. We found ths very irritating ans based on that we would not recommend your place to anyone.

One could relax and enjoy all the other amenities that the other people who were staying in the Tower at half the price. The front desk staff was fantastic all the way, day and evening. Thank you Georgie and the rest on days, and Frederick and staff in the evening.

Some guests would smoke on their balconies. Very offensive and pollutive. This could not be monitored by the regular staff, only other guests. It's something I wouldn't want to smell on such a beautiful island.

It needs a bit of a facelift. Other than than, it was great.

Beach front and part of the Royal Lahaina Resort which is a beautiful property. Nice walking trails through rolling golf course, and excellent beaches.

The room was advertised as having two queen sized beds, but they were actually doubles. My wife and I had to sleep in separate beds. We were only staying there for a couple of days, so it was ok, but the beds were very uncomfortable as well.

The service was outstanding. The front gate guard Toupou, the front desk clerk Steven and the room escort Jordon were very accommodating and provided excellent service.
