My wife and I decided to stay there while on the cape and got a what we thought would be a good deal. It advertised, "only one opening left". The pictures were of small cabins on the edge of the water. When we arrived we were waited on quickly but taken to another part of the complex. We were the only people in that part of the complex. We had a small room with a small kitchenette. We have been in many, many, many motel rooms over my lifetime and I can truly say this was in the bottom five. It looked like they tried to clean it but the room was very rundown and, frankly, very disappointing. The refrig was rusty inside, the shower was a flimsy stand up shower, and the bed was unsleepable. My wife wanted to leave right away but we had already paid and we were very tired. The bed was made poorly and the sheets came off during the night so that we were sleeping directly on the mattress. It was old and stained. And really uncomfortable. Neither of us slept. The rug was dark and stained. The furniture was a mish mash of what looked like yard sale furniture and the table was so sticky that my wife's bag stuck to it when she tried to pick it up! Having said that the beach was beautiful and we enjoyed that immensely. We spent one night there and then went elsewhere. It was false advertising and far too high a price for the what we got.
location and staff
I called enroute- change in plans and was arriving a day earlier but would arrive late at night. Was very welcoming and accommodating! We arrived after midnight- lights were left on for us in the room. It is special touches like this that make the difference. We had driven over 8hours and this warm welcome made us know that we chose the right place.
The location is perfect - very close to Provincetown. It is on the beach and has a very wide, long beachfront with a wooden walkway a good way down. The beachfront location couldn't be better. The cottages and the outside upkeep (flowers, grass) make the place look charming. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
The cottages are lovely on the outside, quite dated on the inside but perfectly adequate. Major complaint is the lack of wifi. Wifi is advertised but was not available most of the time which meant constant use of data on iphones and inability to do work (which I had planned on doing) on ipad. The staff apent quite a bit of time trying to get access but we finally gave up. This is a major shortcoming and the reason I gave value for the money only a rating of fair. However, If lack of access to wifi is not a problem. then I would recommend Kalmar Village for a Cape vacation.
closeness to the beach.nice pool
Beach was not maintained. Trash everywhere. Large chunks of sea weed all over beach. Nowhere to put a towel. Wi-Fi was non-existent most of the time and when it was working it was really slow. No maid service at all.
near national seashore
parking was tight in the efficiency rooms
Nothing but the location at the beach. Was thankful manager gave us a refund for the rest of our stay.
Poor accommodations. Barebones. Not an extra anything. Had to ask for a toaster. Table was broken. Had to get staff to fix it. Refrigerator had rusty shelves. Coffee pot was disgusting. Bathroom door rotten. Closet door did not stay shut. Stains on chairs. Air conditioner loud and stinky. Bad for allergy sufferers. Worst experience at a "motel".
Rooms need updating but location was excellent!
The locations was great. Close enough to Ptown to bike but quiet.
The room was NOT represented by the photos that we saw online. We only saw photos of cottages which gave a confusing message to us. When we arrived at the 'motel room' we just decided we would pretend we were visiting a third world country and make the most of it. Bathroom door didnt shut, room was tiny, kitchen equipment was poor and misrepresented. The room was far away from the office, we thought it was all a little village setting, but we were off in another area.
Chilled out place to stay
Banging doors !
The front curtains were pieces of cloth sewn together, they did not close all the way,so they had a clothes pin and one safety pin to help for privacy, the window shades did not pull all the way down, flimsy lock, not a safe place for women to stay.neighbors sat outside our door drinking and talking loudly until after midnite.they only show the kalmar on the website, not the run down tradewinds
The beach was wide and sandy with warm water, quite impressive at low tide. We stayed in an older cottage with wooden panels; the rooms were clean and the bath was clean too; the grounds are well kept. Wi-fi worked fine. The maid service was very good, helpful and not intrusive.
Our cottage was comfortable for two, but it would have been a bit cramped for four (it sleeps 5).
loved that no kids where i stayed (tradewinds side ). Kalmar side has kiddies. As adult, i definitely wanted no kids since I was there for sleep and Carnival. been going there since 1990. Loved it. Room tiny , but nice. But i liked that owner lives on premises. Important and folks respectful of noise late at night. thank goodness.......and no dogs. thank goodness........it was fun! friendly folks and beach is right there. would go back! august 2014
Kitchenette tiny. tiny fridge. but for solo person fine. Need matress protectors on both boxspring And mattress (only on mattress). I would not charge $160 night for queen bed (not double beds) in season with really old chairs, etc in room. Regardless of location. 30 yr vet of Truro. Moldy shower. But floor clean. Need vacuum daily plz. New bedspreads needed. thanks!!
The resort was really close to PTown and the beach access was excellent!
We ran out of hot water the first night and we could never connect to the wifi.
The people are nice ad te rooms are clean. We needed one night which is hard to find. Te unit we were in was not great but they have a lot if options. Location really can not be beat and very clean.
Good value for money. Curtains didn't really close. There were safety pins involved but we were right in the beach and honestly I really liked the spot.
Liked the cleanliness and location this village of cottages; beach and maintained cottages are nice; the workers are friendly and helpful; was able to rent a room for less than 1 week; Bathroom small, clean and worked fine; If you like a throw back vacation set up, you will like this.
End cottage had road noise and the people who stayed in the adjoining half of the cottage where door slammers and loud for 3 of the 4 nights we were there; kitchen was not well equipped - we had an old fashion percolator coffee pot that wasn't good - a modern coffee pot should be a must. There was a mismatch of silverware (1 fork); plates and bowls where odds and ends at best. No counter space for prep - After first day had to eat out all meals because it was not an easy setup for meals.
Location, on the beach. Pool was cool but all in all ok.
Bedding was polyester , mattress was lumpy. Refrigerator was ok but the freezer was a ball of frost. Not usable at all. No a/c at all.
Good beach Close to Provincetown Very calm Families with children Friendly staff Excelent access to the different attractions in the town
the shallow sea very bad wi fi lots of algae on the beach
Too bad the sheets had spots on them, and sand was inside the bed...
Location and they took one night stay during high season
Very expensive for low quality. Needs remodeling. Looks like furnishing from 1950. Musty.
Location Parking In room fridge
No in room amenities provided like soap, kleenex, iron, hangars, coffee pot, hair dryer, etc. Cheap linens and towels No ac
Great location. Close to the beach. Friendly staff very helpful
Outdated a bit. No water pressure
Location and beach, family atmosphere, fire pit on the beach pool. Many guest are returning after steady 15 year vacations there
need to update surroundings, furniture maybe add a/c
Nothing comes to mind.
Old antiquated room, only one light, very poor Wi-Fi, no A/C, no fan, hard to open windows, office not open when we wanted to check out, no coffee making equipment, no drinking glass.
