The ski locker was nice but I would have liked to be able to lock my skis up. It was a complete honor system. The bathroom was not clean. There was hair on the bathroom floor that had not been cleaned. Gross. I do not like hotels that put the shampoo and gel in a container inside the shower - I understand it prob helps with cost - but I think the quality of the product is cheapened when doing this. The comforters on the bed were very nice - which made me think that there is no way possible those are cleaned after each guest - this kind of grossed me out. The breakfast was alright - could have been better.
It was a great location and great to have the ski shuttle.
Not within easy walking distance of ski lift; expensive; tiny kitchen; queen, not king size rather stiff beds
Close proximity to ski area; old school ski resort feel, with wood fire in the lobby; good but expensive food and drinks; wifi through-out; ski and boot storage; frequent shuttle to ski area
We originally had a 2nd floor room but moved to a third floor room due to the thin ceilings. lots of noise coming from the unit above. That needs to be improved.
The staff is very good, helpful and accommodating. Especially the front desk and bar tender. I love the beds at the Kandahar, thank you.
no elevator duvet covers - too heavy
Hot tub breakfast cookies fire ski access nice room with kitchen lightweight blankets upon request boot and ski room showers at hot tub storage of bags after check out nice atmosphere comfortable
I have never written a review.....ever. However, after spending so much money for such poor quality I felt obligated to warn any other future travelers. As a x-mas present to my family, I reserved the "loft" which is for 6 people. They advertise "Ski-to- door" which I thought would be cool. It is not ski to door. In order to get to the ski hill you will have to go across the street, then across a large parking lot, then up a big hill to get on "Home Again" run. They do have a shuttle. We were on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. If you have much luggage it is a pain in the rear. The parking lot is down the hill from the "lodge". They do a horrible job keeping the ice cleared and so my kids constantly were falling as we were trying to walk downhill to our car. You then walk across an icy road to get to the parking lot. Upon entering our room we were greeted with a very dank odor. On the main floor THERE WAS NO FURNITURE besides a queen bed and two chairs (one of which had a large stain on the cushion--grosses me out to think of what might of caused the stain). The room was very small. The TV is small and quite outdated. With 6 in our family it was nearly impossible for all of us to watch TV. The 2 adults sat in the chairs while 4 kids would have to sit on the bed or floor. There is no desk, shelf, table, etc. to place items such as keys. You end up losing all of your little items as you have to lay them on the floor for "safekeeping". In the loft there was just 2 beds and a very small bedside table. It was so small that you have to crawl over the first bed to get to the second bed. You barely have room to move. There is NO TV in the loft. The bathroom was gross and outdated. The shower head was basically the equivalent of garden hose with poor pressure. It was not a shower so much as a hose with no option to change the shower setting. Gross, long hairs were on the shower walls.
Nice large outdoor hot tub. Reception area is cozy.
Old and dark bedrooms, with High beds unconfortable for some people. Internet doesn't work at all.
The location, excellent view.
No elevator. We had to carry our bags upstairs. Super 8 offers milk in the morning. Econolodge offers milk in the morning. Kandahar,at $200.00 a night, does not...and,apparently, will not despite my request. Limited parking next to the hotel. No bathroom amenities, except European style wall-mounted gel dispensers. Only one suitcase rack in our room. One towel per person with one spare set for the room stored in the closet. An outdoor, wrought iron dining set took up an inordinate amount of space in our room
The dining room and Chef's Tasting were excellent, but seem to be run separately from the lodge. Everything about the hotel itself was 3rd rate.
Facility looked older. Cabinets were just plywood. The restaurant was so expensive we went to town for dinner.
Good location. Great bed.
Only thing I didn't like was that there was no elevator only stairs. But at the same time, nice to get some exercise. Also, there are only like maybe six or so parking spaces right near the door---after that you have to park in the gravel lot. Which isn't a big deal as it's not too far.
My friend had stayed here as a teenager and my brother thought that it would be dated by now ala Hot Tub Time Machine or something... but we loved it! It was very charming still. Very homey lodge feeling and a cute little bar and big fireplace area in the lobby. I thought that it might be inconvenient getting down and back from town but it was not a problem at all even at night. We liked how close it was to the Danny On Trail as well and when I asked the front desk about that---a gentleman helped me find it very quickly. Anndd hot tub!
Room was stuffy. Not enough light or air circulation for me.
Maybe a larger screen TV
weird, fake euro vibe. Closet sized bar and typical seasonal amatuer staff.
close to ski area, comfortable beds. Excellent restaurant on site.
Could hardly walk around the end of the beds (no room)
The breakfast was not so great. I figured with there first class dinner restaurant the continental breakfast would have been a little more.
Great atmosphere! Great location! Great place to have a good times!
Not a very good breakfast for the price. Parking lots downhill from lodge made for an uphill walk to the lodge. Very very high beds hard to get up onto the mattress.
Nearness to ziplines and zipline staff.
The beds are very high - a bit hard for shorter people to climb into. Perhaps a small step stool would help?
We liked the location, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. Nice facilities including hot tub, steam room, etc.
Could have had better breakfast choices such as plain oatmeal, plain yogurt and whole wheat breads to choose from as well as fresh in season fruit and perhaps some meats, cheese as in a European breakfast. Wi-fi was lousy at best Bed was "noisy"
Quite and secluded Easy mountain access
No view, unlike what most reviews say this place as zero views. Walk 10 minutes and you can get a view but for your morning coffee you will see the parking lot. Rooms are moldy because there is no light coming into your room. essentially this is a timeshare with special 'club members' only rooms that you wont be allowed to go go to. My review is for summer, and it maybe also because I pay 260 dollars a night that I was expecting something much better.
Too bad location isn't a bit more convenient to Whitefish but still beautiful scenery so can't complain too much about that. Our only real complaint in summer is that the loft area gets incredibly hot so the people sleeping on the main level have to freeze with the air conditioner on High to try to get a comfortable sleeping temp upstairs.
The loft area of our room was perfect for the kids.
no elevator from main level to the rooms.
Friendly people, quiet, cozy atmosphere
Wi-Fi is free and does work, but very slow. Not likely a provider or equipment failure but rather a location problem as my cell had trouble picking up AT & T as well. Not a problem, just be prepared, leave the Facebook and online business work in the car and enjoy the mountains.
Loved the place. Staff were fantastic and the place is well cared for. Great place that truly knows the meaning of service. They do care how their facility looks and works. Definitely stay here no matter what your in Whitefish for or whom your with.
