Location, Location! The staff was very friendly and always glad to help. The bathrooms were tiny but very clean. And the beds super comfy. My room even had a view!
There is no A/C or fans! The night I stayed it was extremely warm so I had trouble sleeping thru out the night. I did open the windows but then you here the city noise.
Beautiful restoration and charm of an era gone by. But nicely updated clean rooms, well designed with all the modern amenities while still remaining true to the original construction. Color schemes and furnishings were top notch. Really cozy.
I'm allergic to feathers and would like more thought put into providing hypoallergenic bedding and pillows. Would have liked a small fridge in the room and a safe.
Comfortable hotel Classic decor Comfy bed Makes a change from the usual hotel chains Free PC/Printer access in reception Helpful Staff
I've had the luxury of stay at hotels all over the world and although the location was nice the amenities were lacking
Room was a good size Comfortable bed Friendly/helpful staff Very good location
the location was perfect.
The photos of the facility were much more beautiful than the actual accomodations
great Staff and location.
Bed mattress not comfortable
What a pleasant place to stay: in the middle of a very expensive area, this place is reasonably priced, has good service, isn't a cookie-cutter chain, has well-appointed rooms, good coffee in AM and flawless internet. No problems with noise despite staying on a busy Friday night.
Would be nice to have a fitness room on site - you have to go down the street.
Clean and convenient. Friendly staff
No Air Conditioning, No Gym, No Restaurant or Room Service. $560 rate...taking advantage of conference to double their rate.
room wreaked of smoke, very uncomfortable in that regard
Walkable distance to Union Square.
staff was really nice and helpful
Old world charm, wonderful location near Union Square.
A little dated, but classy.
Great hotel , lStaff were friendly, location was great, hotel is also attached to theater , if you want to catch a show , rooms clean , bathroom little small . Complimentary Sherry at 5 in Lobby . Lots of restaurants and high end shopping close by, Pinecrest restaurant is great for breakfast !
We. Forgot to take our do not disturb sign off and left for day , so room wasn't made up . Called down for towels . Never got them !!
This is a good clean hotel in a great location close to Union Square. Whilst I like the hotel and have stayed there twice, it has no real facilities of its own such as a bar or restaurant. It does have two good restaurants next door though and shares a building with the Playhouse theatre. Morton's Steakhouse, one of the restaurants has a bar. The concierge service lacks a little personality/information but San Francisco is easy to figure out (just avoid the Tenderloin area and the hobo's)
Lack of a hotel bar
Beautiful and quiet room in the center of San Francisco, very nice staff.
No safe in the room.
Location Lobby - Sherry and Tea Station Comfortable beds Friendly staff
Valet Parking price $ 45/day Nights can be very noisy due to street noises, but hey your downtown! ;-)
Location, ambiance, comfortable, complimentary beverages throughout the day, availability of luggage to room on your own, bathroom toiletries - very good daily selection, ample storage drawers, large flat-screen TV, comfortable bed with quality linens, large closets, two luggage racks, inviting front lobby seating area
No air conditioning; upper floors air via partially open window + ceiling fan Farallon adjoining restaurant disappointing
Lobby was charming and bed and room were very clean and comfortable.Staff was very friendly and willing to help. Great location to Union Square.
No air conditioning but with SF not needed. Could leave window open for nice breeze but in the middle of the night someone was rummaging through glass bottles in a dumpster below outside for quite some time. Made it very difficult to sleep. It would be nice to have a larger drive up area for valet parking. If that area is full, and you can't pull to the curb, it is not easy to loop around since it is a one way street.
Staff Free Wifi Beds Silence
We stayed for four nights and really enjoyed the boutique feel of this place. The hotel is in a great location. Our room was comfortable and quiet despite having the window open. The staff were helpful and efficient.
We missed having a kettle in the room to make an early morning cup of tea.
Friendly and accomodating staff, comfortable beds, clean cozy rooms, close to good shopping in Union Square.
A little far from some of the sights and touristy locations. Because of the age of the hotel, you could hear doors opening and closing in rooms around you.
Very comfortable bed. Powerful shower. Décor in the rooms and lobby are fabulous. Friendly staff. Printer in the hallway was a great help, though it does look out of place.
Lack of security outside hotel - we needed to get a taxi at around 5am and were hassled by an aggresive homeless man looking for money. Very intimidating. Musician choice - on one evening there was a woman playing the piano in the entrance hall. I love to listen to a good pianist but she was just hammering keys too loudly and it made us leave. Thin walls - at night we could hear doors banging from the hallway and next door.
Make sure take bottle of water with.
We arrived from Australia, late in the evening, and were made very welcome by Brian. Chad, Joshua, Manfred, Giovanni and other reception staff were all very helpful. The hotel was very comfortable, located at Union Square, near shops, and surrounded by (reasonably priced) cafes and restaurants.
