The atmosphere and location of this hotel are awesome. Should try Ryoko sushi place a block away if you get a chance (open until 2am). It was fantastic. The staff were very professional and nice.
If I had to complain about anything, the shower water pressure was a little low, but I think that might be common in dense area of any city.
Loved the location and the old world charm.
The entry way construction taking away the beauty of the hotel.
The location was really good, just a few steps from union square. You need a car for going to the fisherman wharf though.
The bath was small with no tub
Location!! The view!!! The decoration !!
Right next to the cabkle car line, Great Bed
Small Rooms, Bathrooms
Good location, quite, kind reception and room service personnel
Old, not renovated room. There is always some kind of business meetings at lobby.
Welcomed as soon as we stepped into the lovely lobby. Fabulous bed, great location and great online discount web site price. We'll be back!
Would have liked a light breakfast.
Friendly helpful staff
No tea making facilities in room only coffee.
Love the "old-world " feel of hotel!
water in the lobby, would have loved to stay for wine service.
lack of parking, a bit worried that valet wouldn't get to car before police did.
A fabulously located hotel with friendly staff, great bedrooms, large comfy beds and free coffee and tea!
Bathroom could be updated to match quality of the bedrooms.
Fantastic Value for the hotel room Great Location Would definitely stay here again esp without a car
Cleanliness and courteous staff
good location, clean
Breakfast not available
It was a lovely old hotel that is very well maintained. It was convenient to everything and the staff were very helpful!
see above, clean, view out back, quiet, kind of - others in roooms close by - able to hear noise
You are in Union Square
Ok, you are in SF and you want to be in Union Square. You have to pay for that, I know. However, for €260 per night I would expect really something better. The prices are fixed according to the request (again I can admit this), but no breakfast at all and very poor wifi system is too much. I would avoid that.
Perfect location for Union square. Also fair distance walk to fishermans wharf.
The location is perfect, the rooms are very nice, everything was perfectly clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the hotel has a lot of charme.
The rooms were a bit small (they looked much bigger on the pictures) and it would be nice to get a little snack for breakfast not only coffee and tea on two floors. It was okay for the price but not great.
the location is worth the high price. its located 2 minutes from union square and you can get to a ton of shops and sights nearby. there is a huge target within walking distance. it is also close to the mission and soma districts where there is great coffee and food
the room was awfully small for 4 people. it looked like a room for 2 people when i first stepped in. the beds are quite small and i am a short asian.
Great location too
Room size is too small
Day staff on front desk very nice, lobby is elegant.
I think the problem with this hotel is overstatement. They emphasize grandness when in truth it's a pretty funky place and things are not as expected. I pulled up to front which was under scaffolding, no valet that was advertised, had to wrestle luggage from car while crowds bumped into me. Not a good impression. Check-in was fine and I liked the woman at the front desk, but heart sinks as you take the elevator up and find dingy carpets, doors that are old and funky, numbers on doors hanging askew. My card key did not work and the maid had to let me in. Room so-so, good linens, bed okay, attractive fan, nice art and lovely old bureau but alongside other furnishings that were very cheap and tacky. Hmmm. Bathroom quite bad, and I didn't realize the hotel had no room service. I was disappointed but decided on a nap after long travel, and was woken six times by the banging of the service staff because their work area was right beside my room. Went out for the evening and when I returned the new keycard they gave me didn't work again and someone had to come let me in again. I did sleep well that night and appreciated the friendliness of the front desk as I checked out and left my luggage and made plans for later retrieval of my car. The lobby is pretty, I appreciated the morning coffee service and I'm not too fussy, funky can work sometimes, but this hotel was a let down for my planned night of elegance and luxury in SF and I probably won't stay there again.
Unable to regulate heat, limited television channels.
The location, the friendly staff, the complimentary sherry and coffee tea. The room decor. The shower pressure was great!
The fact the sheets were over washed and had balls of threads.
Congenial, over-whelming and customer friendly. Must include breakfast in the contract as it implicit worldwide hospitality
Unavailability of breakfast. should increase room rent and include breakfast.
