I know that all of the downtown hotels do it, but gouging the rates for the Cooper River Bridge Run weekend gives me an icky feeling of distrust towards this establishment.
The layout of the hotel makes it feel so cozy and charming. The front desk is tucked around the corner from the lounge area, which is separate from the restaurant/bar. It didn't FEEL crowded, even though it was booked solid. The internet mentioned the free parking, free wifi, and free coffee in your room, but they also had free water bottles in your room, and free, really decent coffee in the restaurant (better than the Keurig packs in the room). And on the day of the race, they gave away bags to all of the racers with muffins, apples, bananas, and water bottles! All of the staff is excellent! At brunch on Sunday, the server could have shooed us away when we unknowingly walked into the restaurant 3 mins before they closed, but instead, she just asked us to make sure we got our order in quickly so we wouldn't miss breakfast. We didn't stay, but we thought she was so nice! I would have more like, "Are you kidding me?? I was just about to go home!" ;) Also, the mimosas at the King Charles Inn bar were much better than the ones we had at the more-famous-for brunch place we visited.
