Score from 477 reviews Very good
This La Jolla hotel features an outdoor saltwater pool and panoramic views of the California coast. It serves a daily deluxe breakfast on an oceanfront rooftop. The San Diego Zoo is 15 miles away.
Score from 959 reviews Good
breathtaking view, fluffy bed, cleanliness
parking fee, distance between rooms and lobby
Spa not open Gym not open Valet never at post No bell help Room service out to lunch Broken promises
Location to beach, paddleboarding, kayaking, pool.
Restaurant offered limited faire. Pool bar closed at 7pm but pool was open til 10?
Great place, beautiful beach and view.
Totally under staffed for the holiday weekend. Menu at restaurant was very limited.
The staff were were helpful, clean, location and perfect ocean overview.
No lefts were available.
The only thing we liked was the view and location, other than that the service was ok.
We booked 2 rooms with the same price and they gave us 2 different rooms one of them had a small non renovated bathroom and it was not comfortable at all.
Price:(..during Comic Con the price was too high
Parking Fee is $17 per night.
Approximity to most attractions. They took off the parking charges. The bill boy was very cooperative.
Slow room service and did not provide all amenities like bathroom slippers.
Excellent location Good value for money
I loved the staffs willingness to please especially, the greatest hostess in the world Jessica took care of or every need poolside,, from advice on activities to address'. Such a lovely person really made us feel like family on vacation and we were important to Her. Plus one of the best fish tacos in all of San Diego.
Key Cards for pool towels. I noticed a few locals were using the pool, which in itself was not a problem, very quite and clean and always plenty of room. But need to find A better way for towels to be issued
The bar & lobby were very nicely done and comfortable and in no way representative of the rooms, which were shabby and extremely overpriced .I would not stay here again.
the room was terrible, lumpy bed, no curtain on window only sheers with people crossing in back of window . wifi didn't work in all areas of the room. Bathroom paint was peeling, no window. lighting was harsh. Terrible room. Night receptionist was rude and unhelpful.
Kona Kai had a very relaxing atmosphere. I can confidently say you have truly embraced the name of your Tropical Paradise.
I was disappointed with the lack of "toys, kayaks, bikes, beach chair rentals and umbrellas. Your bar could be better stocked.
Poor view from room. Poor parking. No coffee in room. No cream or sugar in room. Staff, for the most part was rude.
The location is magnificent - the view over San Diego skyline is great and the marina right next to our room made wakening up a pleasure. The hotel is stylish and posh yet with a comfortable vibe and a very good atmosphere, which I believe has a lot to do with how the hotel is build in low buildings.
There is nothing to complain about! Great hotel.
Good location, affordable rates, pool and jacuzzi, good food, mostly courteous staff, fire pits, movie screening, overall good experience.
No microwave, inconsistent training to the staff, found insects in the room, empty vending machine, $17/day parking, Restaurant closing at 9 pm, and abysmally slow wifi. All minor things that could be fixed easily.
Loved the location and the view from our room.
The restaurant and pool were closed during renovations, did not see this on the site from which I booked.
Huge bed! Comfortable. Good bathroom.
Some building have no external identification which makes finding them difficult. Spider in the room. Lack of a list of amenities and locations, did not find the refrigerator until morning we were departing.
Peace and quiet...Staff always friendly and accomadating
Key cards demagnetizing a few times during stay
rooms smelt musty. no food service. under construction
Not much... The staff did respond well when I told them I wouldn't spend another night in my room due to construction noise starting at 6 AM... The Manager's beer and wine reception at 5 PM was nice...
No mention of "renovation project" when I booked... Arrived to find the pool closed - in San Diego? In June? Seriously? Also the restaurant was closed... Awoke my first morning at 6 AM to the sound of construction crews... Review your bill! Mine looked very high and I discovered they double-billed me for "resort fees" - this at a hotel with no pool or restaurant! Plan on high taxes and fees - my $159 per night room totaled out to $213 per night - $54 per night in additional charges... Very slow WiFi...
The room was nice
The creepy guy who skate boarded past our bay door asking for drugs not once but five times! The fact that they were out of many items on the room service menu. The fact that my reservation was screwed up and booked for the wrong day so we had to spend more money only to find out that the entire facility was under renovation, so no pool, no spa, no restaurant or bar anymore! Nothing was as advertised not was it worth $320 a night... We came here to celebrate our two year anniversary... I would have rather saved my money and layed by my pool at home! When a "Resort and Spa" is under renovation, you guys should make the public aware before you let them book a stay! The old bait and switch routine is old and not a very customer centric business model nor does it bode well for your site nor the image of the hotel...
Friendliness of staff and location of marina
pool was being redone
Location, cleanliness and complementary beer and wine for and hour.
We were charged a "resort fee" while the out door pool area was under construction. A little disappointed about that.
The location was great and the room was gorgeous
