First floor rooms with zero natural light. Insufficient noise insulation. Housekeeping knocks on every door 8AM and asks at what time to clean the room - uncool.
Restaurant on top floor with excellent service, food and views.
Room was dark. Valet parking was expensive for the location. Wifi not free unless in frequent stay program.
The staff were friendly. Evening wine was a nice touch. Location was close to the beach.
Room too small, balcony too small, bed decor pillows were stained & unclean. Restaurant was closed to due to party/convention. This was the main reason why I reserved & booked a room at this Hotel. No alternatives were offered? I would of never booked a room knowing the restaurant was not available to us. Guest should be notified when reserving or booking a room.
The valet boys were very friendly, fast and efficient.
Close to shops, nice view, easy to get to from freeway
It does not value the money you pay for the service and the room you receive. I payed more than 200$ for one room with ocean view that was not exactly an ocean view room. Also, we have to pay for every thing including a one bottle of water which costed 7$. the location is not good, it is very far from where you wish to stay. The parking was also super expensive 30$ only for one night. In general, I would not recommend to stay here.
Mandatory valet & associated charge. Did not enjoy my entree at Cusp Restaurant on 11th Floor. It was Restaurant Week and I had a limited selection of meal choices for a fixed price.
Complimentary wine 5-6 in the lobby. Great staff. It was quiet; I had an ocean view.
The required valet parking was irritating but overall not enough to lessen the enjoyable trip.
The friendly and luxurious atmosphere created by the hotel staff. For New Year's Eve, my daughter and I received a handwritten note, chocolate covered strawberries, and sparkling grape juice. What a wonderful touch!
Our first trip to San Diego. So glad we stayed here. The door men were the best (made us feel much better for the $28/night parking fee). Location is great, few min drive to anywhere in La Jolla, 10 min walk to the beach. Room is very clean and the lobby is beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay!
Was a great environment, we didn't get to enjoy the hotel as much as we would have liked due to a quick stay, but the Starbucks early at 5:30 a.m. was so convenient!!!!
Breakfast has lack of choices. The valet parking is ridiculous. You pay for a very expensive service for someone to park your car 10ft away in a completely empty parking lot.
The price haha, very high. And the fact that you are forced to valet.
I mainly chose this hotel because it was animal friendly. The price was high but I appreciated that they did not charge an extra animal deposit on top of that. We were able to take our dogs everywhere through the vicinity and always felt welcome. The room was nice as well and we had a great view of La Jolla.
The only thing I didn't like was that they advertise lobster day for the restaurant and when we went there (8:30 pm - reasonably early) they were already out of lobster. That's a rookie mistake. Nevertheless they made up for it and we still had a great dinner. But my husband was really craving the lobster...
the rooms are beautifully decorated, the bed is super comfu, the see through shower is super cool and the views are breath taking!!! And the staff is always super nice and making sure you have a wonderfull stay! I totally recommend this hotel and would definitely come back.
Attn to detail. A vacuum cleaner sat outside our door most of the time. Room robe was tattered missing a belt loop. Couldn't get the room cool enough at night
Friendly helpful attractive staff. The modern feel of the hotel. Location.
most dusty room I have ever seen, super dirty windows and balcony! very old interior, looks just nice and modern on the fotos! bedspread was with downy feathers and they flew around in the whole room, horrible….
nice view above the 6th floor towards the ocean. nice restaurant on the 11th floor, but to expensive!
When I arrived, I was told by two employees that the restaurant was open until 10. That night, they closed at 9:15, because they weren't at capacity. When I asked for room service but couldn't find the menu, I called to have one sent to my room. They didn't inform me until 10 minutes later, when they arrived with the menu, that the lights we're out in the restaurant and I couldn't even order a sandwich. Happily, the manager comped my pizza delivery. I've been a loyal customer for 12 years, but this incident would have made this visit my last.
Nice decor, good location, great restaurant view
No in room coffee/tea available. I believe due to the mileage and damage to the tires, that my rental car - an E class Mercedes, was taken out without me.
Balcony was a nice plus with view of sunset. See through shower was very nice!-
I told my wife I am paying big bucks for a 4 star hotel during this trip to San Diego, and this is what I got: 1. mandatory valet - another cash grab for an already pricey stay. 2. no convenience - you either have to buy from convenience store before you return to hotel, or you pay the outrageous hotel price just for a can of coke. 3. not family friendly - porn channels too easily accessible to children. 4. no hot tub - for a 4 star hotel?! 5. Wi-Fi requires sign up - what a hassle. 6. toiletries are made in china stuff. A motel in Anaheim near Disney provided made in canada toiletry.
1. comfortable beds 2. friendly staff - very pleasant 3. funky bathroom setup with ceiling high window to the bedroom
Great boutique hotel, staff was wonderful and very helpful. Loved the free shuttle.
Lack of view from our room
but this one missed the mark. I has to be the noisiest place I've ever stayed in.
I love Kimpton Hotels,
Location is not noisy, but close to everything
I told the staff I was bringing my girlfriend down for a night to propose to her. They were great about giving us a room away from the elevators for some quiet. Took their free car service out to dinner. When we came back from dinner there was champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room. Super sweet of them. We also brought our dog along, and he had his own bed and a toy stuffed bone waiting for him, which was great. Oh, and the free wine happy hour in the lobby was also fun. Just brought our glasses to the pool to enjoy them. Also, their robes are amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone.
I was very disappointed when I arrived with a friend and was told they were fully booked, and could not find our reservation. However, then came back and told us they would find a room. After about two hours of waiting for a room-- the person who told us they would get us a room, just disappeared. At that point we found a hotel by the beach in LaJolla and went there. We could walk around the town, the room was less expensive and was nice we did not have to drive down the enjoy the beach. I doubt I will ever stay at a Kimpton Hotel again. I had stayed at one in NY City and was very pleased, but after this experience, they will no longer be considered.
