The neighborhood is a little bit scary.
Decoration, staff and the room.
The owner and her Team were the greatest hosts. If you like Art, Vintage and you look for something very special, that's the place to stay. It's a very quiet, authentic area very easy, fast and convenient to go by subway downtown. This place and the neighborhood is full of great experiences.
Everything. The team was very nice. The entrance is completely independent, which allows the visitors to feel really at home. The neighborhood is safe even at night, with the advantage of being close to center (with express subway it was very quick to arrive to the center) but in a calm and more affordable place. Here the food was cheaper. That was our experience.
Loved the attention to detail & little touches such as travel adaptors & hair straighteners being provided. Perfect!
Everything! Sophie is a lovely host and the location is beautiful and very good
Its a little far from downtown but it was a good experience stay in harlem
The atention and reception very simpathic
Everything was perfect! The staff is very friendly. The distance to the subway is about 10 minutes. Also Harlem was very nice. I didn't feel unsafe for a moment!
Not too impressed with the neighbourhood.
Loved the room. Comfortable, clear and quiet.
Great place to stay had everyting good location very helpful staff...load's of facilities...home away from home
The room was gorgeous and spacious ... absolutely amazing for the price. I will be back!
Room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were able to check in our bag which we appreciated.
Loved everything about the stay! The apartment is beautiful!
Sacha was a great help. Especially appreciated the late check out on New Years Day.
Very cute guest house in a wonderful area of Manhattan! If you want a place that's not too touristy but still close enough to the main tourist attractions, La maison d'art is the place to be. Harlem is definitely worth visiting!
Area is interesting in a positive sense Close to Subway Nice staff Good Soulfood nearby very Close to Central Park vibe
It was a very cosy place, nicely done up. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great place to stay to experience life in Harlem. Felt really welcomed into the community. Lovely B&B, staff very nice and there to help with anything you needed. Room lovely and bed extremely comfortable. Close to Subway and convenience stores.
We have got wonderful help with everything we needed. The hotel and the room very cosy, we had a home feeling. Thank you Sophie!
I did not notice any shortcomings.
Friendly and welcoming staff, close proximity to various bus/metro lines, good amenities (fast wireless, cable TV, free calls to Europe, small but well-equipped kitchen, free coffee, etc.), garden.
Liked the decor. Lots of art which made surroundings bright and interesting. Staff especially Sofie very helpful and friendly. Very comfy beds.
The stairs, you need to ask how are we on stairs, at the end of the day they were a struggle for pensioners to climb. The area was a little daunting at the time, after we said was a privilege to be in that part of town and experience another culture. Going out at night was not an option for us. Were surprised to find a large deposit paid at booking.
A very friendly welcome, every thing explained but not easy to take in when you have struggled to get there from the airport etc. So the next day it was start from the beginning and we couldn't find anyone to ask. There were not instructions in a book to read. The room was great and having the kitchen a bonus. Good walking distance to the underground transport, and grocer shop over the road.
Design of room/suite Comfortable bed Facilities for making breakfast Whirlpool bath Sophie and eveyone else who looked after us
The area took some getting used to and we found it quite dirty. But safe.
We liked the interior of the house and room. As this is a guesthouse, you can get contact as much or as less as you want. Everything you want is there and otherwise just ask.
The immediate neighbourhood looks a little scruffy. The safe was not mounted to the wall which rendered it pretty useless if there had been a theft.
Our spacious room was very quiet and faced the garden. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the fact that we were not in a big anonymous hotel. Our friends concern about the neighbourhood were unjustified.
Being 4 women, a 10 minute walk from the subway at night coming home from the theater made my daughters nervous. But a $17 taxi ride solved that. Had to park in a lot a block away at a cost of $36.
Wonderful room and service. Amazing Baptist Church practically next door. Also no problem leaving our bags until dinner time after check out.
No creamer for the coffee.
What immediately attracted my husband and me to this guest house was its location in a nice neigbhorhood in Harlem. The home was convenient to a multitude of restaurants, shops, and the train. The decor was tastefully done, the room and bathroom was spotless, and the bed was comfortable. The hosts were very gracious and my three year old journeyed down the steps daily to greet them in their office. I would stay here again and would also recommend this place to others.
