Parking garage very convenient to rooms. Beautiful pool. We didn't like the 8 A.M. builders across the parking lot, nor the carpet installers in the room above us. The second room needed serious attention by a vacuum cleaner (and perhaps hot soapy water - a hint, not a complaint). If there is not a spot for complaints, I still feel I should mention that the bathtub in the 3rd room did Not Drain. Luckily I like my friends and was not afraid to bail the tub with an empty coke cup (8 of them) and ice bucket (12). I would have alerted the desk upon check out, but waiting for the returning backpackers to get it sorted out was causing me to get pre-irritated for the drive home.

Relatively close to Qualcomm Stadium. The rooms were clean; no problems with appearance or sanitation. Comfortable beds. Perfect room for a one day stay. Neighborhood was a bit shady. Staff was hit/miss, some where really helpful others were clueless. There was loud music at their events room, it was on until around midnight. Continental breakfast was miserable: they served bagels and orange juice. I would not have stayed there for more than 2 days.

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at this hotel when we came in to see the Packers play the Chargers. I am so glad we stayed there, I loved the decor and old style design of the building. The room was perfect, nice tv, comfy bed, and a good bathtub for a good postgame soak. We both agreed that we would like to stay there again, next time with more time to explore the local shops/eateries. I was surprised to hear construction work in our hallway at around 8am. I'm not holding that against the hotel (they are trying to fluff the place up), but it wasn't ideal to be awaken by that so early by paint being scraped off the walls. One more thing is that the internet connection (no extra charge :)! ) was a little spotty. Nothing too bad though, just be aware that there is construction going on for the time being.

I liked the history of the hotel and the upkeep was great for an over 70 year old hotel! The beds were comfortable and very clean. Continental breakfast was good as well.

the bath room wasn't clean enough, the coffee maker wasn't clean there were still the used packed of coffee inside it. While I was trying to pour coffee in the breakfast room I found a cockroach on the table ,I called the waitress and showed it to her but she couldn't catch it... We were four people in the room two kids and two adults , all we found in the bathroom is 1 ounce of shampoo and no conditioner....

It was laid back and had free parking and a waffle maker for breakfast. For a lower end hotel, that's not bad. They advertised a free happy hour social not mentioning the day of the week making us think it was daily, we were sad to find out that was not the case. The pool party was lively but would have been distracting/loud had we had room near the action.

Poor service. Not much value for money. They charged nearly 125 yet it was only like a normal room. Not even conditioner or lotion available.

Location is great! The pool is a unique experience. It is a hot spot for trendy locals looking to mingle (none of whom are actually hotel guests). If you are into 20-somethings with lots of tattoos- this is the place for you!

The room/suite was very comfortable, the kids loved the room with the bunk beds. Great for families, plus the 2 room suite has enough privacy. The price is very affordable. I would definitely stay here again!

The Lafayette has undergone considerable renovation, and the process is not yet complete. This hotel is an absolute gem with a legendary bar/steak house on site. The pool is enticing. The rooms are clean, with some of the most comfortable beds you will ever find, and all the best amenities.

The front desk were very professional and helpful-the location was perfect and the pricing was good. I liked the cleanliness of my room. I was there during the remodel so it was a little cold in the lobby. The breakfast was ok- Yes I would stay there again because it did not smell like an old hotel.

Unique History, good quality basic amenities, free parking, close to everything in San Diego. Rooms have thin walls, and doors shut with a loud slam. Pool was ice- cold. Breakfast was served in a lousy closed-walled room, instead of the beautiful patio/pool area.

“Art, Shawn, and a very friendly, helpful maintenance employee who stated he is always "happy." Art was extremely helpful by having a jug of distilled water on arrival which I needed for my cpap. He recognized I would have difficulty managing those steep pavements to secure the water. Made sleeping a breeze. Your manager Shawn is the type of representation you should be very proud of. He is congenial. Your maintenance refused to take a tip when I arrived only to say he was very happy to asist with my luggage which was cumbersome. also your breakfast setting was clean, comfortable and great. Thank you so much” Jacquelyn, Deptford |
