Located only minutes from the San Diego Airport, world-class sailing, and whale watching, this hotel offers comfort and modern amenities, while putting guests right in the middle of the excitement in...
Score from 674 reviews Very good
I was visiting an ill family member during this trip. Going back to the hotel was comforting. It felt special, not like any other regular hotel. I would go back. Location was great too.
I wish there was a hot tub, for stress relief! Would recommend More counter space in the bathroom. Possibly a mirror in the room, not just the bathroom.
loved the historic aspect of the building, the swimming pool, the food and the service and the attendants!!
I see the need for some updating in the hotel as far as the carpeting, and the bedding.
Location was great. Everything in every direction was a 15 min. Drive. Gaslamp, Mission Bay, Qualcomm Stadium, SDSU. A Beautiful Classic Hotel nicely renovated.
Watching a little tv was difficult because the channels weren't preprogrammed.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and ready for my arrival.
The location is very good.. Close to all attractions
Cleanly ness , staff , location, bar and food options, everything first class
We loved the decor and that old Hollywood feel of a hotel that's been around for so many decades. We loved the plaques at each room with pictures of old movies and stars. We got our favorite.... "Some Like It Hot"! The room was very clean and very LARGE. I can almost picture like a sitting/smoking area in there which I'm sure might have been in the 40's.
There was a faint and lingering smell of old cigarette smoke in our room, obviously due to the fact that everyone smoked in doors back in the day. I have a very sensitive nose so I had to keep the window open all night with the fan on to get some fresh air. Also, I didn't see a hot tub...??
Very helpfull staff. Sydney was exceptional. Lovely swimming pool.
Must have mini fridge in room.
the hotel is close to some many attractions and has places to eat near it as well as in the hotel its self. I found the staff helpful and friendly, I would recommend having a room next to poolside as it makes the stay that much nicer.
The look and location.
No mini fridge and the water temp was a bit low.
Friendly staff! Comfortable beds!
Water in our room wasn't real hot.

The pool parties were excellent! Because they are open to the public (for a membership fee) it is nice that they have security to help keep things under control... so everyone can have fun! We loved the food at Hope 46 and the sangria. We had the best steak and crab at the Red Fox on site. We'd like to come back with our son (toddler age) and try one of the bungalows. This would be a great place for a ladies' trip or a guys' trip or vacationing with another couple. I love that it has history, great decor and character, but with recent updates. It's close to down town, yet you can even stay at the hotel to eat, swim and check out some improv.
This is not the best place for a romantic getaway. I would recommend a bed and breakfast or luxury hotel. For fun and a unique experience, this is a great place!
We were so impressed with the staff we asked to speak to the manager personally to compliment them. They were always helpful and friendly. Mimi always gave us great greetings at the front desk. The house keeper was tops too!
The staff was very attentive from check-in to checkout. Every person from housekeeper to manager were courteous and helpful.
It was a very unique hotel. Loved the decor, the staff, and the old time feel of the place. So cute and different. The pool area is great and the lobby/lounge area is great.
The room was small and we paid a good price for the stay. If it was for the rest of the hotel, I would have rated the value fair.
Very comfortable and spacious room. Plenty of character throughout the building. Good location - close to craft breweries and good bars in 30th Street area, and plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from.
Room didn't have a fridge for storing drinks/snacks. No free parking, but price was reasonable when compared to other places.
Loved the theme of the hotel, we are on our honeymoon with the kids and had a 50's themed wedding.
excellent hotel, great atmosphere, lovely pool
History & unique feel to hotel & pool. An oasis. Great easy access location.
No free breakfast .
Really enjoyed my stay here. Clean, comfortable hotel. Friendly, helpful staff.
My husband and I went to San Diego for a short trip. Neither of us went there looking for the "old Hollywood" theme. We wanted a hotel close to our grown son, who is ill. The Lafayette cheered us up at every turn. We found that we loved the decor, the great staff, room, pool, restaurant, parking, etc. We'll be back.
Overall Design Chess, checker an dunki Kong games
My room smelled like food all the time. Underground parking was too low. Couldn't use it
