The pool was great for families, especially those with older children. They have pool parties on weekends and public holidays.
There was a glass door between bedrooms which makes privacy difficult. The kitchenette was very basic- no sink. Just a microwave really.
everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was in the perfect location for us, near to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. The remodel and history of the hotel was amazing. The pool was lovely even though we didn't use it.
A little too loud as guests were drinking and standing near our window but other than that, no problems.
The Lafayette has charm and a wonderful pool. However they are not quite the boutique hotel that they could be. The bedding is great but the room still smelled a bit musty and the a/c loud and ineffectual. The tv was not sharp, no comfortable chair to sit on, no luggage rack. It fly like a cross between a motel and a nice place
Staff is always courteous and helpful atmosphere is young and hipster great value for money love the pool and the activities. next time I'm participating in Big Band
I loved it all no negative
My adult daughter stayed here as I have a small full home. I did not want her on the pull out couch with no privacy...It was great close to my home...good price and very comfortable and nice! My favorite memory is swimming and having lunch pool side.
Poolside room Plenty of sun loungers Quiet at night Excellent for Zoo
Wifi didn't quite reach room No refridgerator in room Air con just adequate
The concierge is exceedingly courteous, and the decor is vintage and unique.
The clientele by the pool can get rowdy, but they're easy to avoid.
Room size, atmosphere, staff, bar food and drink, pool
noisy AC in room, noise from main road
The lobby was cool. Quite historical.
Although I didn't use it, the pool looked fantastic. I loved the history of the hotel, the room and the most comfortable bed. During my stay, an older gentleman played the piano in the lobby which gave the hotel an aura of times past. I loved it. I will definitely stay there again the next time I visit because the value for the money.
It seems that there was a wedding over the weekend and the hotel was packed which made parking a bit of a hassle.
seems as if hotel cares more about pool party patrons than overnight guests
Friendly staff, food was good, secure parking and the overall stay was good.
The old hotel is showing it's age, not bad but could use some paint and TLC.
Loved the pool, the bat and restaurant, the service was excellent. Great stay!
Great pool, very nice restaurant, big, clean and confortable room.
We had a family get-together - 12 people (4 rooms altogether) and really enjoyed the hotel. The rooms were clean and updated; the beds were comfortable; the AC worked great in the heat wave. The pool was outstanding. We enjoyed the restaurant (older family members enjoyed the bar) + free parking, free wifi, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a unique and historic hotel, convenient to all that the places we wanted to go.
Breakfast included would be nice.. Not all rooms had refrigerators and microwaves.
I loved the atmosphere of the Lafayette. From day one, we were greeted and welcomed like we were coming home. It helps that I used to live in the neighborhood, but the people at the front desk made us feel so welcome. Swim club events and live music all weekend. Drinks by the pool. Enjoying life. It was truly a wonderful and relaxing vacation.
The rooms are fairly small, but it's a boutique hotel, so that was expected.
Large room, comfortable beds, very clean, nice touch with the up graded lotion, shampoo, and cream rinse and water.
No mirror in the room, only in the bathroom.
I was visiting an ill family member during this trip. Going back to the hotel was comforting. It felt special, not like any other regular hotel. I would go back. Location was great too.
I wish there was a hot tub, for stress relief! Would recommend More counter space in the bathroom. Possibly a mirror in the room, not just the bathroom.
loved the historic aspect of the building, the swimming pool, the food and the service and the attendants!!
I see the need for some updating in the hotel as far as the carpeting, and the bedding.
Location was great. Everything in every direction was a 15 min. Drive. Gaslamp, Mission Bay, Qualcomm Stadium, SDSU. A Beautiful Classic Hotel nicely renovated.
Watching a little tv was difficult because the channels weren't preprogrammed.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and ready for my arrival.
The location is very good.. Close to all attractions
