Great amount of space, toasty warm on a cold night in winter. The main lodge house was really beautiful too. I brought my parents here and they were really impressed too.
+ Quiet and peaceful, slow in the off season + Gorgeous location and grounds + So much to do in Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor -- or not + Attentive, helpful Lakedale staff + Beautiful, comfortable room with well-considered details + Healthy options for breakfast + Big balcony overlooking Vega Lake + What's not to love?
My only real complaint is that they need better quality pillows, but that's not going to stop me from going back.
Tucked away in the forest cabins awaited us after a long day on the water. Meals were easily prepped in the roomy kitchen while the rest of the crew had a few bevvies in the living room in front of the fireplace. All in all a perfect place to be with some friends or family.
Nothing to not like about it.
The location is very beautiful and the interior is very nicely decorated. We had a room with terrace and lake view. There was a chess table in the lobby and binocular for bird watching in the room. The staff was friendly and cooperative.
Tap water was yellow !! I am not sure if it was a global issue on the island or the local room/building issue. The heating was based on gas fireplace - which is very charming looking, but we had a carbon dioxide alarm because of it - I would prefer some more clean and safe way of heating. The very minor things are relative early check out (11am, when I am used to at least 12pm check out time) and there was not anybody at the front desk after 8pm - It would feel somewhat more safe if there would be someone from the staff around (not necessary at the front desk, but at least in the same buildings).
This was a cozy clean quiet place to go for the weekend. It was so nicely decorated, the grounds were just beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin and loved it! We are coming back this summer with the kids since we see kayaks, etc in the lake. What a great find!
pretty location deer on the grounds
bed are too small - not even queen size
Grounds and lodge are beautiful. Staff was very nice and ready to assist.
No newspaper provided. Shutters on the ground floor room did not quite provide total privacy. For the price I expect these to be givens (not quite a 4-star resort).
It was quiet and secluded. Very dark at night. The lodge is beautiful and well stocked with books and videos. A lovely little wine bar. It had a little breakfast room but since we were in a self-catering cabin breakfast was not available to us. Mary Anne gave us great information on the area; she had a sheet giving all of the things we needed to know about the places we wanted to see. I would have loved to have seen a list of restaurants available on the island. Unfortunately we discovered just what we had been looking for, The Coho Restaurant on Nichols Street the morning we were leaving. We were walking near the Saturday Market while awaiting the ferry and saw it. In reading the menu we discovered it was exactly what we had wanted, a great seafood restaurant. Talked to some locals in the market and they said it was excellent.
I wish I had gotten a little better explanation of facilities when I booked. Looking back I would have booked two rooms in the lodge; one for my husband and me and one for our guest from Edinburgh. Then we would have had the luxury of having breakfast in and not having to hunt for a suitable place (taking more of our time than I liked.)
It is a beautiful spot. It is tranquil. Staff is friendly. Breakfast is good.
Bed was uncomfortable, walls very thin, water is brown. Should provide bottled water to the guests.
The location, niece place. Eliminate the rats and have a friendlier staff.
Lodge price but Not Lodge quality
*Seclusion *Great Location for Day Trips *Soft Beds *Dog Friendly *Coffee in the Room *Separate Bedrooms *Free Books and Movies
*Misinformation from the Front Desk Regarding the Sunday Ferry (Really Busy!)
position of cabin near the lake firepit and BBQ and outside dining table lakeside little beaches and freshwater swimming provision of beach towels the iced lemon/lime water and free cookies in the lodge were a lovely touch and most appreciated. the dragonflies were fabulous and the small bats at dusk were wonderful
A less noisy fridge would be good...i suspect it needs upgrading to a triple A rating which would save energy
Only coffee available in rooms. A microwave for heating water for tea would be nice.
It was clean, lovely view, quiet (especially considering the camp ground),and the staff were very responsive and polite.
Rooms got pretty hot in the evenings & there was only an overhead fan for cooling. We were not there during the day, so its hard to say how hot it got.
Setting was outstanding
Price was outrgeous and hot tub was unavailable while we were there
lack of refrigerator in the room
Great location, cabins charming, well stocked, lake behind you could boat, fish, just watch. I would definitely come back.
Hot tub not hot and when we called for help the man who came didn't know how to fix it. Bummer.
high priced for level of amenities
The park-like setting and the short distance (5 miles) from town. We stayed in a nice, two-bedroom cabin with two full baths and kitchen. But it was more than what we needed and expensive per night. A good alternative might have been the canvas cabin/tent. There are several lakes there and the property is well-maintained. In our modernized cabin, everything was good and comfortable except for a very dirty microwave, fridge, and a toaster that burns the bread regardless of the setting. For families with younger children, there are lovely campsites and open area for play. There are also daily planned activities for adults and children. The hot tub was nice but at times very noisy and crowded.
Just the lack of attention to the cleanliness and funtionality of kitchen appliances. We did not cook this time but had we wanted to, we would have had to clean the fridge and microwave first. Please replace the toaster. For paying nearly $500 a night, we really were surprised by the burnt toast! We wish there was some kind of scheduling for the use of the hot tub.
Pretty setting on a lake with lots to do, fishing, canoes. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are lots of good places to eat nearby and there is a general store on site. Breakfast was good and the server very helpful; all the staff being particularly nice.
Door lock jammed and maintenance had to use a ladder to climb in through the balcony to let us in. Made for some good photos though!
The views, the decor the food and staff were all fantastic!!
The trash was not removed from my room, this is the only negative I can come up with. Fantastic place!!!
we did not stay long enough.
Balcony looking at the lake, peaceful, close to hiking & history around the island, superb breakfast, friendly helpful staff, bird book & binoculars in room
Only liquid soap dispensers in bathroom, including next to shower but too high for bathtub occupant. No notice of planned electricity shutoff one night.
We were caught with great surprise, and delight with this jewel of a place. It's like a modern day lodge, with all the comforts, and hospitality you could imagine. Can't say enough nice things about Lakedale Resort. So happy we found it, and plan to go back many times over ~
That we didn't get to stay longer. We only stayed one night, and had plans for the next couple of nights on Orcas Island, otherwise we would've stayed a few days longer. Next time we will ~
