The Hotel Lanai is an old building with ambiance. Sarah at the front desk was very nice and so were the other people that work there. We had two rooms with a lanai and it was nice to sit and relax outside. It's a nice peaceful and quiet place. There was a small refrigerator in the closet to keep our drinks cold. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have the ceiling fan. We lowered the blinds at night, but kept the screen window open. The hotel is located in downtown Lanai and it's a short walk to the restaurants, markets and shops. Breakfast was simple, but nice... granola, milk, baked goods, cut fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. They didn't have non-dairy milk so we just brought our own. In fairness, we just assumed that they didn't have any. We would definitely return to the Hotel Lanai.

Just occasionally you can hear noise coming from the room next door, but it wasn't bad.

it was great stay away from city life.

I thought the room rates are a little pricy, for a room with no T.V.

We like to travel off the beaten path. Lanai Hotel gives you this with access if you want to beach. No TV. Relaxing view from porch. Hike Lana'i is excellent resource. Great meal in grill.

    Price of meals in grill.

    Nice room, excellent restaurant

The city shuttle has its own schedule, not yours. If we had stayed at the Four Seasons Resort ($$$$$$$$) their shuttle would have been much better.

We loved the quaintness and solitude. Lanai city is a great place to get away from it all.

The restaurant at the hotel was a bit stuffy and over-priced

We loved everything, the staff was wonderful, the food was to die for! The bed was wonderfully soft. It is our new favorite place and we really enjoyed all the people we met and exploring the island.

We need to work on our trips and Wi-Fi is so important, the Wi-Fi was great in the main room but not in our room.

    Quaint , clean but old....

Hotel doors close at 5:00 p.m. And are locked. If you leave hotel and return from dinner you let yourself into a locked hotel no front desk staff on duty. It is more like a bed and breakfast minus owner.

Location, charm, ambience, very cute. I liked that it still had the feeling of "old Hawaiian style." The person who checked me in was very nice and very helpful as was the owner, Michelle. Loved the shuttle service. All in all, a lovely and tranquil place in a lovely spot. Lana'i is a gorgeous and special place. Nice continental breakfast with fresh fruits. Hotel nestled in amongst lovely Norfolk Pines and very convenient to shops/restaurants.

The windows were difficult to manage. Would not stay up without inserting a piece of plastic. One of the window locks did not work. A feeling of safety is important to me. The sign at desk says reception opens at 7 am. I went to the desk at 7:15 am with important question about airport shuttle and the guy at the desk seemed irritated. He said he wasn't open yet and could I come back later. He also was not helpful about shuttle times and seemed irritated with questions about it. Hawaiian Air has started new service to lanai and shuttle service for these flights was not posted yet at the hotel so of course guests are going to have questions about it as we don't want to miss our flights. This person should have better customer service and be friendlier to the guests.

Ambience. A classic old plantation place. Very clean. Good maid service. Very nice folks at the front desk.

No hot water in the morning. No acoustic privacy -- you can hear everything in the next room, voices, coughs, suitcases being unzipped. Very unpleasant bartender in the restaurant.

We loved the host, ( Michelle) the charm of the place, the restaurant, the location, the feel of the rooms, the Hawaiian quilt, the island and the various places to visit, eat, and explore - we loved the whole thing except....

The one thing you've got to put up with ( but the experience is worth it) are the thin walls. There are no TVs but if your neighbor is playing a movie on their internet. or particularly amorous, you are going to feel like you are right there with them!

This is a beautiful old boutique hotel. The staff is so accommodating and the rooms were fantastic. My friend got very ill and the staff was so helpful in making sure she was ok. A great place and I highly recommend it!

It is an old single-wall construction plantation-style building so we could easily hear other guests cough, or when their phones would ring or alarms go off.

The receptionist was very warm and helpful. We wanted to leave earlier, and she made the call herself to see about availability. Having a dining room with great food is a plus.

The toilet in our room rocks.

It was just cute with a lot of extra little touches like a full ice bucket already in our room when we arrived. The restaurant/bar was very nice and full of friendly people.

The walls are very thin and the lady next door had a bad cough the woke us up several times in the night.

Enjoyed our stay but this place would not be good for everyone. No tv and being older historic building the walls were quite thin so this is probably not a good place for kids or party people. Nice continental breakfast (fresh fruit, cereal, juice & fresh baked pastries). There is also a mini fridge & a small ice chest which they will fill with ice. Did not eat dinner at the restaurant but it was quite crowded so I am assuming it is good.

We enjoyed the old Hawaiian charm of the hotel. Very convenient location to the town. The room was just what we needed for our two night stay on Lanai.

I wish we would have known in advance that the restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday nights. Also would have been nice to have been told that they were having their employee holiday party, as our room was right next to the live entertainment. Felt like we were right there with them, except we were in bed.

The continental breakfast was a surprise and it was excellent. Everything homemade and fresh. We also enjoyed the central location of the hotel, nestled in the center of town. A wonderful spot.

    I had no complaints

Hotel Lanai is quaint but efficient. We loved our room and the adjacent patio overlooking Lanai City's nice park. The shuttle service was predictable and dependable. And the local population was friendly and welcoming. This is our 5th time on Lanai. We would recommend Hotel Lanai strongly.

Not a dislike but the hotel construction is a wooden structure and sound travels freely. Hearing a fellow guest opening/closing their door or walking the hall is part of the fun ambiance of Hotel Lanai. Fortunately no noises associated with the guest room baths travels around so your safe there.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant offered some of the best meals i've ever had.

Building is getting older, can hear the activities of other guests in their room.
