We loved everything about the Cartwright. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. It was very much San Francisco

Although well located, the hotel was a disappointment: the ceiling paint was ready to fall down, the renovation is due for several years, no breakfast at all was available

I loved the location and the staff was friendly.

The rooms were really small and the walls were so thin. I could hear everything in the room next to me. Also, you could not adjust the temperature in the room and so on one of the days when it was hot outside, it was hot in the room.

Older quaint and historic hotel convenient to shops and restaurants in city. Close to trolley which is a plus. Staff was curteous and friendly.

Parking of course is not convenient but then there is no parking anywhere in the city. Room did not have microwave or air conditioner. Opened windows but no screens.

Excellent location in the heart of San Francisco. Valeted car parking service was efficient and staff courteous. Business suite allowed us to check in our next day flight 24 hours ahead.

Very small room with no air conditioning. Thin Walls, could hear everything going on in next room.

Room on the smaller side like a typical European hotel but adequate despite that.

It was nice and clean and like walking back in time, since built in 1915. They've done a nice job updating, but it still has that old world charm. Employees were very nice and even offered us in their town car (both ways) to our show, for about the same as a taxi. Great Experience

I reserved and paid for upfront, 2 Single beds,(as we were 2 singles ladies) but were given one king.

The room was very cozy and comfortable. Art checked us in and did a fabulous job. He added some tricks he had and made us laugh. Best check-in ever. We were glad we got to be checked in by him, overall great guy. Thanks for everything this made the stay even better than expected...

The lobby had an offensive floral smell, the bed needed replacing in 708, the tv would only play channe3 and they couldn't fix. The shower was good

the receptionist was a bit moody when we checked in and vented her frustration on us.

The location is perfect and the staff are extremely friendly. The facilities are extremely clean and pretty well-maintained.

My room had an extra locked door that leads to a room right next to mine. I could hear everything through that door!

The bed was pretty comfortable, the room was very clean and the location was perfect.

The TV didn't work great and the ceiling fan only worked when the light was on so it was a bit hot and stuffy at night. I would say that I was disappointed with these things for the price, but for SF in Union Square you will pay at least twice the price.

rooms were clean; bathrooms nice; windows open; even though I would describe the hotel as "tired" it was priced properly and I felt I got my "monies worth".

Front desk staff were rather abrupt and edgy. Especially regarding getting a taxi.
