Great location, lots of character, friendly staff
very warm room. We had to open the window to cool it down.
Ease of parking and friendliness of staff
You can hear people in the hallway.
The hotel was very clean.
There is not enough room here to tell you the problems with this hotel. The bathrooms are from the early 70's. Pinky beige little tiles everywhere. Horrible. Commode leaned to one side. The tub didn't drain well and commode hardly flushed The furniture is from the same era. It was a tired little room. You have to go down 3 flights to get ice or a coke thru on open courtyard. The worst thing about the whole situation was the lack of a thermostat. When we walked into the room is was so hot you could not breathe. We turned the knob down to low, but it didn't help. Finally called down stairs and asked how to turn it off. You Can't. They would have to call an a/c guy to come in and disconnect it. At this point she got rude. She told me to open my window and turn on the fan it I didn't like it. We cooked all weekend without the window being open. The beds are rocks and tiny. She said it was a queen and I can assure you it was not. I called Booking.com about the problem and I was told there wasn't anything they could do. The pool area was pretty. The bartender was nice. It is , I think, 11 long blocks to Jackson Square. You DO NOT get your money's worth here.
We liked the old fashion feel of the hotel. Felt like a New Orleans French Quarter hotel experience you would imagine.
The heating and air conditioning systems were difficult to program. TV channel selections could have been better and larger screens would be nice.
I love the fact that the hotel is within walking distance of significant restaurants and music but off the beaten path.
the cost quoted was more once charged to my credit card.
There was no individual thermostat for your room. In order to sleep more comfortably, we opened our balcony door to allow some cooler air to come in.
Provided opportunities to hear some Jazz.
In a rustic area of the French Quarter.
The old style feel of the historic preservation of the hotel.
The $25 parking fee wasn't originally in price and I wasn't told about it till after I checked out.
Nice looking exterior and lobby, good location, nice courtyard.
Dated. The bathrooms need to be updated, the tubs do not drain and also the heat would not come on in the room which seemed like it was common as they handed us a space heater as a resolve.
staff, restaurant, furnishing, service
bathroom: no hot water 1st night. bathtub/shower needs upgrade.
Location was great. We parked the car and joule walk everywhere
The beds were far too soft. No coffee maker.
We had an amazing time at this hotel, stayed in room 317 with a big living room,, kitchen, and a walk in closet. The room was almost as big as my house! The service was spot on with a smile and great food in the cafe...try the banana crepes. Free coffee for guests was a nice touch.
The WiFi was a little slow
The staff really went above and beyond to make our stay a fabulous one. The location was fantastic.
The room and bathroom were very dated, but not in a good way, and the beds were extremely small.
Ambiance was awesome. Throwback to earlier times.
It was just a bit too far from the action of the French Quarter. The lengthy walk made it slightly inconvenient. No hot water in the mid morning for my shower. Had to wait till later
I loved everything about the Le Richelieu! The staff is so courteous and friendly. They go out of their way to make your stay one to remember. I was able to upgrade to a suite which turned out to be the one Paul McCartney stayed in for almost 3 months in 1978......thanks Pam and Tamara! It was a great experience.....and on my next trip to Nola ...I will definitely be staying at the Le Richelieu!!
Extra beds & cribs are not available & the hotel states that the rooms are small. But since these are former apartments you get more floor space & privacy than you would in Las Vegas.
Perfectly situated in a slightly more quiet spot within the French Quarter - close to French Market, and entire quarter + short walk to Frenchmen Street, and easy access to major roads. Private parking lot was a big plus for us ($20 per night). Staff was quick to get us a cab, and our maid service was quick each day. Shower water pressure and heat was great! Nice big bathroom. Great experience, beautiful spot. Too cold to swim but the pool looked nice (not big, but great for a dip)
Not really negatives but included to assist with personal tastes. We were on the 1st floor - occassionally garbage trucks and passersby could be heard early morning and the full-length windows (love!) put people right outside as they walk by - so if you really want quiet - ask for an upper floor. Rooms are not giant - bigger than most European rooms, but not as large as a typical us hotel chain. (But exactlly what I would expect in a charming building in nola)
Staff are very hospitable and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable and had a balcony. The location was very quiet but there were many good clubs, bars and restaurants a few minutes' walk away on Frenchmen and Decatur. La Richlieu has character and history. This was our second stay.
A kettle or a coffee maker in the room would be very useful.
We liked everything! We had a very good experience at Le Richelieu, in every respect.
The staff here is especially exceptional, from the front desk to the security guards to the bartender.
The Wi-Fi was way too slow.
The atmosphere !
The heating system obsolete! The old moquette! Some parts could be renovated
I have traveled all over the globe and I can honestly tell you that this hotel is one of the best on the planet.Bar none. The staff...the owner( thanks Frank) the food...the everything was fantastic.Would I stay here again? I am never going to stay anywhere else when we go to NOLA...no where.
I loved it all!
