Excellent tea! Susie and Elan were very gracious hosts.
We loved the afternoon tea and the friendliness of Susan and Elan.
Lots of stairs
Location, friendliness of owners, breakfast, and good price
Room was drafty and cold, but that's understandable as it is an original Victorian. Also, room was extremely tight - hard to move around - squeeze between furniture on one side of bed and only room for one person to pass on other side.
the runners of the bed and breakfast were absolutely delightful.. :-) the facilities were up to date and great tip top shape. will most definitely return again. wonderful view only a block and a half off of the beach. wonderful place to stay. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
the bed itself was a bit uncomfortable a little too hard for our comfort but overall one heck of a great place.
Afternoon tea Meeting other travelers
Food-raw French toast Room-too many stairs, found things from previous guest, bathroom and room tiny
no indoor seating for dining
Owners Elan and Susan were the perfect hosts - friendly and available but never obtrusive. Breakfast was always prompt and delicious - and homemade! - and they offered a very pleasant afternoon tea with baked goods also by Elan. The house is decorated beautifully and authentically by the owners with great attention to period details; each room contains a book explaining the Aesthetic Movement and how the furnishings and color schemes reflect the period. The library is filled with books you may borrow, there's a piano in the downstairs lounge, and coffee, tea and sherry that you may serve yourself. I would definitely return here for a romantic weekend any time of the year! Very enthusiastically recommended.
Our bathroom was separate and down the hall, a minor inconvenience which couldn't really be helped - other rooms have attached bathrooms and I'm sure the original layout of the house prevented their adding a bath to our bedroom. Also, our non-reserved parking spot was several blocks away in a busy general lot, so it was not a very convenient location.
Daily homemade breakfast and mid-day sweets are excellent. The location, only a few houses away from the beach, is a plus with chairs, towels and an outdoor shower to use.
The room on the first floor with the king is quite spacious with its own bath and decorated with interesting antiques, but it's in the front of the house...a little noisy especially if you planned on skipping breakfast and sleeping in.
The place is very clean and stylish. Nice, romantic aura, great conversations with owners, close to the beach and all the restaurants.
our room was a little too small and Wi-Fi is too slow.
The location, stores
The room needed freshening, window a/c was noisy, breakfast was not what was mentioned on there Web page. Very disappointed.
This was our 7th stay at Leith Hall, so we obviously like it. It is 1/2 block off Beach Ave, an easy walk to the beach, and 4 blocks from the center of town so it is close to restaurants and shopping. The owners cook wonderful breakfasts and home made deserts for tea every afternoon and are present for both. Elan knows pretty much everything about Cape May and its history and the Victorian era. I recommend one of the two 2-room suites since you can see the ocean from the bed! Gracious hosts with wonderful food in a relaxing afternoon. Our suite was air-conditioned (if open windows on 3 sides weren't not enough) had a flat screen TV, a DV/VHS player and a Jacuzzi bathtub.
Synopses of local restaurants found at bedside made dining decisions easy. Breakfast on the porch was relaxing. Third floor suite with sitting room was delightful. Off street parking was good. My Suburban made it through the alley and into a space without a problem.
I know Cape May's raisin d'être is Victoriana but the B&B's Victorian decor could be lightened a little to reflect modern sensibilities. Otherwise, there isn't anything not to like!
lokation exellent staff
The location was perfect. Right in the middle of the town and the beach. The house itself was beautiful. The host and hostess were charming and the breakfast was excellent.
I just thought the celebrity room was a little cramped.
The owners are very gracious
Our bed was not comfortable
Would have liked more variety for breakfast. What was served was a bit under cooked.
The house is nice, the food was great. The inn-keepers are so nice. We had a wonderful visit.
nothing comes to mind at all
We loved that everything was in walking distance. We enjoyed meeting Susan & Elan. They were very personable and made it easy to relax and enjoy ourselves with their breakfast & afternoon tea.
Having to leave...
We enjoyed the whole experience of the first time at a B&B.
Our room did not have a bathroom in it, we had to go down the hall. The bathroom was private. Just an inconvenience. Not crazy about climbing steps to 3rd floor?
Elan and Susan were very nice and the food was excellent. Great location.
The owners and staff are all very friendly. As other reviewers have noted, the breakfast, especially the scrambled eggs with dill and cream cheese, was amazing!
Wonderful stay! We're sure to return.
Had to leave a day earlier than expected because my Father was not doing well (He died later that night) and they would not reimburse me the second night because I cancelled that day. I thought that was cold as they want our business but will not give us the second night back. Like I wanted to leave earlier than expected and travel four hours back to long island. Why would I go back to them?
Breakfast was awesome, but TEA TIME was a WONDERFUL TREAT!! Don't miss it!
