-There is a laundry area in the basement which is excellent especially when you are staying long - cheap buffet breakfast - quiet place - free internet and good signal
-So strict about visitors. - No shampoo :) - you can hear whoever is in the hallway - you can hear everything that's happening outside
Able to get a reservation within one week for Christmas time! Cost is very reasonable. Feels safe.
Great value for money. Clean and modern.
The staff at the reception is unfriendly and repellent. This is strange as this hotel is driven by the catholic church. Not much christian compassion on ground floor.
Location The staff
clean great location courteous staff
wi-fi spotty and not usable
Didn´t provide for a printing service to print airline boarding card
As a traveller this hotel was brilliant. We needed somewhere safe, clean, reasonably priced and with good basic facilities-it delivered. It's location is fantastic with the subway nearby and with good local bars and diners if you need them. The staff are great, tips aren't expected or accepted and all the basic facilities are there to enable you to see New York.
This is in the 'what didn't you like' section-but TBH there was nothing. It provided what we wanted at a good price in a great location. However what I would say is that this hotel won't suit everyone. We were out at 8am and back in at 10pm travelling round New York. We had the breakfast which was great by us and much more 'European' than the diners (ie much simpler and cheaper) and again this suited. This is not a hotel with 'Hilton' style facilities. We shared a bathroom ( although we had a private toilet and wash basin ) but again this was just fine. Our room was under refurb ( un painted plaster etc ) but everything worked, it was warm, quiet ( better than we expected-but at the back ) and safe. And as is have said the staff were great.
The very friendly and helpful staff. The ease of getting to public transport. The reasonably priced breakfast on site.
Can't think of any negatives.
Location, close to subway lines Safe and secure venue Now wifi is available in the rooms - the last time I stayed there it was only available in a common room downstairs.
Lack of a private shower/bath in the room, only sink and toilet. (However, I've stayed in rooms in Leo House with private bath) Spartan accommodation, but for the price, it's acceptable.
Excellent staff. Great breakfast. Dorm like. Great value. Will stay on regular basis.
Tub/showers could stand renovation. Would love a night stand!
excellent Location value for money fair..staff very friendly
No frill, excellent quality for value. Great staff, perfect location
It is an old building, with old room. But one expects this, it is perfectly fine!

Paint chipping on wall. Very tiny bathroom. Public Television Channel with no volume. Very slow service at desk from a disrespectful, older, black female staff. She told me to sit down when I arrived as she checked in someone else. When I stood she became very angry. She talked down to me about whether I reserved the room and also yelled at me. Couldn't handle the stress of her job. Bad location of room. 4th Floor, front of building. Noisy from the street and across from the elevator. It was at least 70 degrees outside and the room had no AC present. Very cramped room.
A perfect location. The room was exceptional and I would stay here any time I am in NYC. The staff was the best.
Very good location, excellent breakfast
A lot of noise inside... but the hotel gives earplugs
This was my third visit at the Leo House. It's a nice guest house conveniently located in Chelsea within few minutes walk from the subway. The rooms are not too spacious but they're clean and comfortable; they're all provided with private toilet and faucet. Breakfast is a real deal, a wonderful choice of everything!
I'm afraid to say the staff is not as nice as the hotel. It depends on who is behind the desk of course; Sometimes they're really rude and unpolite and you're afraid of asking things. We spent more than half an hour to check in because of the lady behind the desk. Wi-Fi works only in the business center and does not connect at all while in your bedroom.
Stayed at this hotel before, a lot of improvements since the last stay, still an excellent value.
The next thing to fix - soundproof the doors between adjacent rooms, will help a great deal with comfort and overall room soundproofing. Put the signs by the elevator for the guests to keep their voices down after hours for the comfort of the guests in nearby rooms.
Location. Room were very nice and clean. I checked in w a friend. No traveling w one friend option in this survey.
I had to wait cause I was 10 mins early for check in. Then the lady on the desk didn't get to check me in a half hour pass check in time. I waited at least 25 mins while she checked in/ chatted w the ppl n front of me.
Great location Clean Price
It was either too cold or too warm - there was no way to regulate the heating to a good temperature. No coffee/tea in the rooms The sink had the most user-unfriendly faucet I have ever seen.
It was relatively quiet.
I thought the staff lacked customer service skills. Because it is not really a hotel, the staff is not hospitable, as the staff in any decent hotel would be. Lacking amenities that would be considered normal. I inquired about a band aid and they did not have a fort aid kit.
nearby subway stop lots of restaurants nearby nice neighbourhood
room 307 had a noisy air duct outside of it and was very warm.
Price Location Tidy
Look a bit old They should put at the front that this is a Catholic hotel (I saw it only at the confirmation and it was fine with me but may not be fine for all)
location handy for Penn st station and other subway stations near by,food places near by
The place is centrally located with a metro station in the corner. The environment is friendly. In general, no complains.
Although it is said that the hotel is run by a not-for-profit Catholic organisation offering affordable rooms for travellers, when the rooms start at USD 110 per night I wouldn't consider that as really affordable but rather in the same price range as other hotels. Don't expect anything to be really cheap in New York.
