This a great little hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms and facilities are indeed 'boutique' but the location is so good that you can't wait to get out and about in nearby Times Square, the Rockefeller Centre etc etc. The 'library; theme attracted us to it in the first place and it would be a great place to chill out, read and relax. For us New York isn't that kind of a place.
Price of a couple of glasses of wine for a nightcap on the Terrace were a bit pricey
24 hour access to the first floor lounge with beverages and snacks. It was a great reading and rec room. Outstanding breakfast. Best fruit salad ever! Top floor bar and lounge area also freely available in and out of hours added to home away from home feel. Wonderful staff, great location.
Internet was patchy at times but seemed to work best in breakfast/lounge area.
All the extras....breakfast, wine & cheese, chilled water, fruit etc.. all included in the price!
The Lbrary hotel offers a friendly and helpful staff, quiet, spacious, comfortable rooms, a library themed decor complete with books and beds that provide a restful sleep. Just a few blocks from the NY Public Library, Bryant Park and Grand Central Terminal.
The tv reception was snowy with only a limited number of channels but then we didn't watch it much.
Very good service, will definitely come back.
Cheese and wine reception for guests, cracking bagels for breakfast, genuinely friendly staff (at the desk, door boy and reception room staff), perfect location, jazz radio in the room,
conservatory was under renovation work so we couldn't check it out and Wi-Fi signal was weak in the bedroom (probably a blessing in disguise though!)...
Central location, comfort, character, breakfast, cheese and wine in the early evenings. It could not have been better!
All staff were welcoming, friendly, & anxious to please. My petite room was beautifully appointed & perfect for just the one of me. The public rooms were also beautiful, large and comfortable. The continental breakfast and evening wine reception were generous in offerings and hours of service.
There was nothing I didn't like about The Library Hotel!
I love this hotel. Very attentive staff! Kind and helpful. Long stem roses in my room for my birthday! It's a grown-up hotel where your needs and wants are taken care of.
That I had to leave.
We liked the personal service we received. All the staff were exceptional. The hospitality on the 2nd floor was excellent. The buffet breakfast, complimentary cheese & wine aswell as fruit, tea and coffee throughout the day were a real bonus. Great that wifi & a selection of free DVDs were also included.
Our room on the 5th floor was especially noisy from the street traffic and we had to wear earplugs. These were readily available from the front desk suggesting the noise level can be a problem. Our junior suite was nice but a little cosy when the sofa bed was out for our son. We put it away after breakfast each morning to create more space but came back to the hotel about 3pm each day only to find it out again which made the room very cramped. Finally the rooftop garden was gorgeous and the main reason we picked the Library hotel. However out of two of our four nights stay and one whole day this area was out of bounds as it was booked for private parties which was a real disappointment. Also it was a real pity the complimentary hospitality was situated inside on the 2nd floor as it would have been much nicer if the cheese and wine was relocated to the rooftop space where the ambience and views could be enjoyed.
Everything. The location is excellent, the staff are friendly and efficient always willing to help. The afternoon wine and cheese that they offer caps off a day of touring the big apple. We will certainly stay there again and have no hesitation in recomending this hotel.
I didn't like the fact we had to leave.
Loved the location -- away from the madness, but close enough to everything. The room was cozy and comfortable and felt like home. Staff was great.
The elevators were down a couple of times, but didn't pose a great inconvenience. Breakfast area is cramped.
Book themes- would be nice to choose what area you stay in
The receptionists were so nice and helpful.
The rooms are very small.
Very helpful and friendly frontoffice staff, free breakfast and afternoon snacks, quirky library decorations (theme rooms)
Elevators are a real bottleneck, wifi in room unreliable, roof terrace and service unremarkable, rooms smallish
Staff, location, and the 24 hour breakfast room with snacks...the 14th floor bar and terrace are delightful. The bed linens are good.
noise from the elevator dinging, small room, work going on in adjacent room one day, one elevator out of service for one or two days, and the hallway noise...
Terrific midtown location 24-hour free snacks+coffee Staff extremely friendly and helpful
It was wonderful to have two sitting areas when not wanting to be in my room. The rooftop area had comfy lounges to provide quiet time after being out and about and the breakfast/evening reception room always had a welcome cop of tea available. My mattress was a bit firm but a topper was provided very quickly after being requested. I enjoyed two dinners at the attached restaurant which were delicious. Having a safe, welcoming base to return to at any time was a great advantage. Breakfast and evening drinks and nibbles were plentiful, generous and fresh. Proximity to Grand Central and the subway was fantastic but I walked most places ... walk on the right hand side of the footpath! The staff is perfect and to be congratulated!
The roof top bar was perfect for a relaxing glass of wine after an exhausting day sight seeing. Felt like an oasis in the middle of the city. The Bell Boy was fabulous and very helpful.
Location, friendliness of the staff, Wine and cheese reception, breakfast, DVD rental, the entire concept of the hotel
no reason to complain whatsoever
Position is excellent, the room was very clean with good service. I would come back in this hotel if I will visit again New York.
The breakfast service can be improved by adding for example some hot food or as well for example ham, cheese and so on. At the moment there is not much choice..
Complimentary breakfast Staff service
Rooms a bit small. TV smaller than my computer monitor
Great location just near Grand Central Station and easy walking to Times Square
Wifi was not consistant in the rooms
Beautiful location with Grand Central station (for the underground) and Bryant Park (for the cafés) just round the corner, lots of shopping possibilities nearby, a few blocks from Central Park which was great for our morning jogging. The hotel is beautiful, beds are top comfort, and the personnel is lovely and helpful. An inspiring place where we have already been twice and will certainly come back.
Very friendly and helpful staff, everyone was eager to make us feel welcome and at home - especially Tim, the Front Office Manager. As already stated by other reviewers, the location is near perfect for a city trip focusing on sightseeing and shopping. The hotel itself is neat and clean, our room was spacious, lovely decorated and the bed was comfortable and cozy. And it were the small things that made our stay at the Library special, e.g.: complimentary bottle of Italian prosecco and Belgian chocolate coming along with a personal welcome letter in the room when we arrived; two complimentary bottles of water twice a day; free coffee, tea, water, cookies, pastries, and fresh fruit available all day long at the breakfast room; delicious fresh sliced fruit salad at breakfast each day; complimentary wine and cheese every evening... For us, everything was just perfect.
