Staff were amazing in their genuine desire to help visitors. Loved the fact that food and drink were available 24 hrs free of charge. The place was very homely and comfortable and so well located. A bit of civilisation within the city. Can't speak highly enough of this hotel.
Everything was just perfect - staff are fabulous, very helpful, good facilities, nice bed sheets. Everything is included in the rate - breakfast, wifi, wine/cheese in the afternoon! Much better value for money than various 5* hotels that we have used before in NYC. Will be back!
Air con a bit noisy but that' the only minus that I can think about.
Excellent location. Very friendly staff. Cleanliness.
It´s rather expensive. Front desk people was not connected at all with our needs (phone calls, correspondence, etc)
Location was central and not too noisy. The staff were welcoming, friendly and always helpful. The Hotel was like a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of New York. We enjoyed staying at the Library Hotel and hope to stay longer next time.
Very kind, helpful and service-minded staff! Wine and cheese evenings - and coffee, tea, fruits and cookies all day and night long - give one a wonderful chance to relax in the beautiful Reading Room. Books, magazines, newspapers and DVD library available.
We would have appreciated an enlargement of the breakfast buffet, we stayed for 10 days and the breakfast was good but same, same every morning.
I am a real bookworm, so being surrounded by all those books made me feel really comfortable. Sorry I didn't have time to read any of them, so a return, and a longer stay would be perfect. We particularly liked the breakfast room on Floor 2, very comfortable and great to be able to use it whenever we felt like it. I appreciated the fact that the librarians noted my birthday with a very suitable present.
Not too big and impersonal - very cosy relaxed and location is ideal and central, would stay here again
This a great little hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms and facilities are indeed 'boutique' but the location is so good that you can't wait to get out and about in nearby Times Square, the Rockefeller Centre etc etc. The 'library; theme attracted us to it in the first place and it would be a great place to chill out, read and relax. For us New York isn't that kind of a place.
Price of a couple of glasses of wine for a nightcap on the Terrace were a bit pricey
24 hour access to the first floor lounge with beverages and snacks. It was a great reading and rec room. Outstanding breakfast. Best fruit salad ever! Top floor bar and lounge area also freely available in and out of hours added to home away from home feel. Wonderful staff, great location.
Internet was patchy at times but seemed to work best in breakfast/lounge area.
This is an excellent hotel and we would stay there again. The complimentary "breakfast" and the availability of tea/ coffee during the day was an added attraction. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.
The bar was somewhat pricey and the choice of drinks limited. The room we stayed in was small although advertised clearly as such but this did not detract overly from our enjoyment of this hotel.
Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, snacks and evening wine and cheese reception. Impeccable service. We had a public transport pass and were 2 mins walk from the subway at Grand Central.
Unfortunately the roof terrace was closed for repair while we were there.
All the extras....breakfast, wine & cheese, chilled water, fruit etc.. all included in the price!
The Lbrary hotel offers a friendly and helpful staff, quiet, spacious, comfortable rooms, a library themed decor complete with books and beds that provide a restful sleep. Just a few blocks from the NY Public Library, Bryant Park and Grand Central Terminal.
The tv reception was snowy with only a limited number of channels but then we didn't watch it much.
Very good service, will definitely come back.
We were only in Manhattan for one night, and we flew in on a red-eye, so it was important our hotel be a little sanctuary. That it was. From the moment we arrived, we encountered amazing customer service. In fact, somehow our reservation from Booking.com had not made it to the hotel, and upon seeing my face of despair (red-eye induced) they immediately reassured me there were rooms available, they'd match the price, and then gave us an upgrade. Awesome. The room was so beautifully done, and the books everywhere were a nice touch. The space was very big for NYC standards, and we slept so comfortably. Location was great- safe, easily accessible to public transportation, and quiet enough that you feel truly relaxed when you return. This is a new favorite for me, and one worth spending a bit more on to feel that sense of sanctuary.
Cheese and wine reception for guests, cracking bagels for breakfast, genuinely friendly staff (at the desk, door boy and reception room staff), perfect location, jazz radio in the room,
conservatory was under renovation work so we couldn't check it out and Wi-Fi signal was weak in the bedroom (probably a blessing in disguise though!)...
Central location, comfort, character, breakfast, cheese and wine in the early evenings. It could not have been better!
All staff were welcoming, friendly, & anxious to please. My petite room was beautifully appointed & perfect for just the one of me. The public rooms were also beautiful, large and comfortable. The continental breakfast and evening wine reception were generous in offerings and hours of service.
There was nothing I didn't like about The Library Hotel!
I love this hotel. Very attentive staff! Kind and helpful. Long stem roses in my room for my birthday! It's a grown-up hotel where your needs and wants are taken care of.
That I had to leave.
We liked the personal service we received. All the staff were exceptional. The hospitality on the 2nd floor was excellent. The buffet breakfast, complimentary cheese & wine aswell as fruit, tea and coffee throughout the day were a real bonus. Great that wifi & a selection of free DVDs were also included.
Our room on the 5th floor was especially noisy from the street traffic and we had to wear earplugs. These were readily available from the front desk suggesting the noise level can be a problem. Our junior suite was nice but a little cosy when the sofa bed was out for our son. We put it away after breakfast each morning to create more space but came back to the hotel about 3pm each day only to find it out again which made the room very cramped. Finally the rooftop garden was gorgeous and the main reason we picked the Library hotel. However out of two of our four nights stay and one whole day this area was out of bounds as it was booked for private parties which was a real disappointment. Also it was a real pity the complimentary hospitality was situated inside on the 2nd floor as it would have been much nicer if the cheese and wine was relocated to the rooftop space where the ambience and views could be enjoyed.
Everything. The location is excellent, the staff are friendly and efficient always willing to help. The afternoon wine and cheese that they offer caps off a day of touring the big apple. We will certainly stay there again and have no hesitation in recomending this hotel.
I didn't like the fact we had to leave.
Loved the location -- away from the madness, but close enough to everything. The room was cozy and comfortable and felt like home. Staff was great.
The elevators were down a couple of times, but didn't pose a great inconvenience. Breakfast area is cramped.
Book themes- would be nice to choose what area you stay in
The receptionists were so nice and helpful.
The rooms are very small.
Very helpful and friendly frontoffice staff, free breakfast and afternoon snacks, quirky library decorations (theme rooms)
Elevators are a real bottleneck, wifi in room unreliable, roof terrace and service unremarkable, rooms smallish
