A very nice place to stay at a competitive price. Walking distance to the shore and Point Pinos Lighthouse. The cottages were spacious, clean and well maintained.
Parking is a little sketch at the cottages, but if that's all I could find as a complaint, it might as well be a compliment.
We absolutely love the cottages. The beds are comfortable & the breakfasts are delicious. The fireplace & jacuzzi tub are icing on the cake! We recommend the cottages to everyone we know. The lodge property is decent, but much like any other motel.
The bathroom baseboards in Rm 322 have dry rot or termite damage that needs to be addressed. The comforter is old & worn. The big bulky TV dates the property. I would suggest flat screens with sleep timers.
The location was great.
The facility is in need of attention to the details around and inside the units. The hand rails need redoing. The carpet is very bad.
Cottages were great
This is a great place to stay, close to the ocean great walks and lots of wildlife around. I would certainly recommendcthis place and would love to go back soon.
Have stayed in the Suites rooms since 2005. Top location, nice setting & facilities layout, bkfst & wine/cheese appetizer hour is exceptional. Rooms are large, well appointed & lounge is warm & very comfortable.
Over-priced for current condition. Has lost its earlier appeal. Amenities are dated, room carpets dirty & worn, musty, even dry rot & mold in bath areas. Needs TLC, fresh carpet & detail fixes. A good handyman living on site could get this place ship-shape within 6-months...like it used to be when family-operated. What potential it has. Owners need to invest in the future & keeping past guests with seasonal offers. Too pricy considering current condition of facilities.
Nice dining room Good breakfast Wine with snacks a nice addition, even had homemade soup Nice friendly staff
I'm sure this was once a very nice place to stay, but it has not been maintained. Our cottage room had old, soiled carpets, a worn out covered chair, and an old mattress with old comforter. These rooms are in great need of a renovation.
The front desk staff was very pleasant and very understanding!!
This was suppose to be beautiful and romantic. We came out for our one year anniversary to what look to be an amazing place from the website but it was the opposite!! When we got here we looked at 4 to 5 rooms until we just settled on the cleanest. Things were broken and dirty. A couple of the rooms were musty damp smelling!! We didn't even have a screen to our slider. There were even ants in our bathroom. We got a little discount because we weren't happy but we still paid about $500.00 for our two night stay and it was not worth the price!!
Carpets in room where disgusting. Needs to be refurbished . Breakfast on paper plates. Will not return.
The carpeting was soiled and ripped. The hair blower did not work. The room was tired!
Having been to Pacific Grove in the past, I was looking forward to an Anniversary Weekend with my Husband of 18 years. His first time to this town, I wanted to share my love of the City with him. The location is great and near the golf course. Room was spacious and we didn't feel cramped. Room included a Chef prepared breakfast which was a delight at the end of our stay.
The King Suite was nesteled in the rear of the complex and was very quiet. Bath tub had striped handles and some black resedue coming from the jacuzzi jets when in use. Kithchen sink had striped handles as well and the guest chair had a broken wheel which became a danger when I rolled near the table. Checking out was quick and easy. However, the front desk didn't ask anything about my stay - she must have been busy...
lack of chairs in room
The service was very good. Breakfast great and the wine in the evening with snacks very good. Good parking.
The carpet was in NEED of being replaced. Not in good shape at all.
We moved from room 109 to 248 and it was like night and day 109 was smelly and worn as across the way 248 was great. The day we left they were starting a renovation of all the rooms. That will improve the whole place.
Cooked breakfast and quiet surroundings make for enjoyable stay.
It was the time to leave.
The location The staff The breakfast
It was a little faded, needed refreshing
Secluded & Quiet Afternoon wine& cheese Full breakfast each morning Friendly staff Underground Parking (cottages) Jacuzzi tub available in bathroom
Stairs (my wife is handicapped). They only have two rooms with handicap access.
patio was not clean /walk way to room was not clean/need a ceiling fan in the room/furniture in the room cloud use some updating
Great breakfast, size of room (Jr. Suite), nearness to ocean, comfy bed, quiet area.
Carpet was filthy, half the windows were missing screens so we couldn't open them, drawers would not stay closed when there was clothes in them.
Location. Helpful staff
Room was clean, but furnishings were old and worn. The mattress should have been replaced years ago. The bathroom door would not close properly and the lock did not work.
The breakfast is awsome if you book a junior suite. It is made to order and huge. Also, they have a complimentary wine and appetizers between 4-6pm.
Wonderful breakfast and mid -afternoon wine and cheese snack Love the fireplaces and the beauty of the wood finishes. Walking distance to the beach and easy drive to downtown, etc.
The room needed some attention to detail. A board was missing in the bathroom and the tile was separating from the wood. Small example to mean that it is time for a bit of an overhaul!
Nicely placed nearby Monterey and Carmel Nice big room and bathroom perfect for a family
the swimming pool was quite far from the room, so not really able to use it
The location near the lighthouse is wonderful. Pacific Grove is a lovely community with lots of turn of the century houses. The view from the end of the peninsula at sunset is magical. From Pacific Grove it's only a short drive to cannery row, historic Monterey downtown or the scenic 17 mile drive. We spent our first afternoon watching dolphins fishing and playing just yards away from the beach in Carmel. There are lots of cute hotels...
Where do I start? In the first room we were assigned the window/ door were broken and not lockable. The screen door was missing(they are missing in the entire hotel!). There was a mouse hole in the baseboard in the bathroom. The light socket next to the TV was hanging off the wall. We asked for a new room. When I told the girl at the desk about the mouse hole she didn't blink an eye. It was obviously no surprise. In the second room there was black mold on the wall in the bathroom. There were pieces of wood falling off or missing on the furniture. There were screws sticking up in the metal strip between carpet and PVC flooring. We opened the terrace door to air out the room. This turned out to be a bad decision since the lock refused to work when we tried to close the door. A repairman had to be called to get the door shut again. We had to sleep in a completely closed room. The breakfast was mediocre. When I complained about the deplorable state of the hotel and the price, I was told that other hotels charged a lot more....no apology was offered. We were told that the hotel will be renovated soon and we should come back in six months...maybe he was telling the truth, maybe not. In the mean time what they're doing is, in my opinion, highway robbery!
The location of this hotel is perfect. Near the golf course, the lighthouse, close to downtown Pacific Grove and not car from Mobterey and Carmel.
My partner and I walked in, I told the young desk clerk my name, she found our room and began checking us in. We are two professional guys, one 50 and the other mid 60s. The young girl, without looking up, said, " are both of you sleeping in the same room?" We said yes. She replied, " are you sure you don't want the roll-away bed?" With a shocked look on her face. I just turned to my partner and said, "Did that just happen". We laughed it off and went to inspect the room. When we returned, due to the fact that the room was terribly run down and the carpet dirty, she apologized for her earlier statement. I thought for sure she had simply misspoken but her last words on the subject were, "it's ok, I have a sister who is 'like that'." We chalked it up to inexperience but a hotel that has survived for so long based purely on location (and I have been staying at LHLC since it was LHLS, nearly 15 years) better make over more than its dank, outdated decor this fall if it plans to catch up!
