It was very comfortable. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Served a great breakfast. I would recommend anyone traveling to Connecticut. Close to Mohegan Sun.
Loved staying at Lonesome Dove B & B. Ruth and Leo was so friendly and have a lovely home. It felt warm and cozy and offered the perfect environment to relax. Ruth is an excellent cook and made a delicious breakfast of blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The room was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and I liked that there was a separate thermostat to control the heat. Would definitely return.

We planned a spur of the moment trip. Booked the stay about 2 hours out. When we arrived Ruth hadn't even seen our reservation yet, she was running some errands. Still, Ruth and Leo welcomed us like we were family. Offering us snacks or beverages the minute we walked in. Told to make ourselves at home they sat with us a few minutes to chat, told us a bit about the house and the area. We immediately relaxed. We were shown the common room, where we could relax, watch some T.V., play a game, whatever and off we went. Our intent was a little dinner and a little gambling at one of the local casinos and that we did. At 9am we were greeted by Ruth and coffee, she told us breakfast was country style. Blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs. Fresh baked blueberry muffins on the table set the mood right for me. Breakfast was delicious. Ruth sat down with us again to talk and we ended up chatting and relaxing for about an hour. My wife and I have been leaning more towards B and Bs for short trips and this one is a welcome addition in Connecticut. Will definitely visit there again.
Warmth of the house. Location to casino. Friendly owners. Property.
Lonesome Dove Bed and Breakfast is the perfect get away location. Ruth and Leo are the perfect hosts and make you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. I would recommend and re-stay here over and over. Breakfast was quaint and we enjoyed taking with the other quests. Our bed was comfortable and the view from the bedroom was priceless, it truly captured a photo of wonderful fall NE weather.
Lovely rooms, fantastic breakfast, gracious hosts, very comfortable living room for guests with beverages, movies, games, books, homemade brownies. Friendly cat but no cat hair anywhere! Porches and grounds are beautiful. Definitely the place to relax, unplug, unwind. Right off of 395. Great stop on the way between Boston, NH, NYC, etc.
Myself, my wife and our two teenage kids, 16 and 13, stayed at the Lonesome Dove on our two weeks holiday to the States. Everything good that has been said before is all absolutely true. I have never stayed anywhere in the world where I have felt so at home so quickly. Ruth and Leo are the nicest people I have ever stayed with. The rooms were fabulous. We had the suite and the kids had the Lily room. Alright, the décor may not be Soho boutique hotel but that’s a good thing. What you get is a slice of real America. The breakfasts are amazing, I fell in love with the French toast and pancakes and I am now in maple syrup rehab! The situation is amazing, beautiful woodland and nearby pond, with resident Heron. There are even wild turkeys roaming about. Nearby Mystic and Stonington are lovely and there are plenty of great places for to visit and eat at. We were genuinely sad at leaving and we will be returning as soon as possible. If you want to see real America, not the Disney version, stay here.
The owner was the nicest person I've met in a long while. She made us feel like we were staying in our own home rather than hers. Enough can't be said about her, she was wonderful. i would recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to feel special when staying overnight and we never felt as comfortable even when we stayed at the most expensive of hotels.
