The hotel is really great! It is kind of a big house full of character. Great location! Super friendly staff! I highly recommend!!!
Staff was friendly and eager to please. The breakfast pastries were tasty. There is a Happy Hour in the courtyard on Friday and Saturday evenings. The hotel is a few blocks from restaurants and stores in Little Italy. The hotel attracts discerning travelers.
Freeway and traffic noise is constant. Hardwood floors are nice, but one can hear people walking in the rooms on the above level; this could be an issue if the guests on the above level are inconsiderate. Perhaps, rugs may reduce noise. My room could have used a chair.
The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The prices were great, and we really enjoyed the free breakfast. If they had eggs too, it would be perfect, but that may be asking too much. I still dream of their granola! Proximity to many of the best spots is great. I LOVED their kitchenette with all the facilities I needed.
It is so incredibly hard to find parking around this hotel. They don't have any on-site, so you have to drive around and around to find a spot. Not so fun when you have luggage to bring back. Weekend nights are so bad that it can take 30 minutes or more to find parking.
Everyone was very helpful. Comfortable and safe for a person traveling alone. Very nice breakfast in the morning with good coffee and tea.
If I would stay again I would request a room on the top floor. The people above me were moving around until about midnight. The floors are very creaky.
The location was perfect right in Little Italy, walking distance from multiple restaurants and downtown. Staff was incredibly nice and accomodating, giving us some suggestions. The small terrace is awesome for Happy Hour.
The food for breakfast was very high quality but very limited choices each morning. A little more variety would be appreciated.
Lovely clean place. Very friendly helpful staff
Parking was a challenge
Staff was amazing and the hotel reminded me of a modern bed and breakfast. the hotel felt homey and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again!
I wasn't thrilled about not having a designated parking lot.
Comfy bed, nice linens
I felt like I had to creep down the wooden staircase to keep from waking others in nearby rooms
I love this hotel. It's very clean and beautiful! The staff are always really friendly and helpful, the beds are really comfortable and the breakfast is delicious.
No bad experiences here!
Very charming hotel with kind staff. Good location for going out in Little Italy. Easy to get in touch with other guests for a chat. Relaxed atmosphere.
Extremely noisy place. Having a room directed to the main road makes it very difficlult to sleep. Demand for a roam to rear side of hotel makes it acceptable but still noisy.
Old style elegance and location were pluses. Staff were excellent as well as the lobby breakfast and evening refreshments.
Parking was very limited. Bathroom in our suite was pretty humble but some of the other bathrooms I viewed were nice.
Parking. Lots of homeless people under the bridge near parking.
The staff was unbelievably friendly and eager to please. The hotel had a charming aesthetic with nice shared spaces both inside and out. The location was wonderful, since we could walk to Little Italy, the harbor and downtown San Diego. The happy hour and breakfast were simple and delicious!
Our room was quite small, the one window literally faced the side of another building and we were right next to the shared bathroom (with super loud door). The worst part was they placed a young family in room directly behind us (we shared a wall) with an infant and toddler--who woke up at 5 a.m. and cried and hollered until about 7 a.m. No one seemed to make any effort to get them to quiet down. We had been up late for a concert and hoped to sleep in a bit. It was a nightmare. I think a B&B type boutique hotel like this should cater more toward adults. I love kids, but this is not the place if you are heading out to Sea World.
Decor, friendliness of staff and room
The hotel is on a busy street but in the room facing the courtyard it was quiet and very beautiful
Comfortable , clean nice rooms and furniture, very helpful staff. walking distance to little italy and downtown. Overall , I would prefer to stay in this hotel again.
Not very comfortable beds and wifi was not functioning well.
The location was great and enjoyed the cozy room.
My room was on the ground floor so I heard a lot of foot traffic from the other rooms above.
The homey feel, the staff was wonderful!!! They had a daily breakfast and happy hour that was awesome!!!! Super close to everything!!!
The parking, and there was not enough counter space in the bathrooms.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly; conveniently located; lovely, historic building
Bathroom needs new paint; could use nice, soft area rugs. Traffic noise prohibits keeping windows open.
Each room is uniquely decorated with antiques. We shared a bath (they provide a cushy bathrobe to navigate the hall), but no one had the other room the nights we were there. Staff is young and eager to help with restaurant ideas, sightseeing, etc., and have created a book of recommendations. We loved being able to walk to Balboa Park and the restaurants and beer bars in Little Italy. We enjoyed a drink in the outdoor patio area. Granola and yogurt breakfast was just fine.
Parking is a definite problem. The hotel has a couple of spots reserved for unloading, but then you're on your own with on-street parking, complicated mid-week for street sweeping. Then there are the airplanes coming in to land at the (extremely) nearby airport. I swear we could see the passengers' faces, and of course it's loud.
Great and kind staff. Happy hour of wines, beers and cheese at saturday night for free.
Room on the second floor, so we (me, my Wife and the receptionist) got to take four bags upstairs, without elevator. Room in front of busy avenue and region (little italy) near international airport, with hard airplanes traffic until 11:30 p.m.
The room, location, staff were nice, cosy breakfast area, room had a spa bath which we didnt know till we saw it. Also had a fantastic coffee machine, nice wooden floors, cleaner feel.
Stunningly beautiful inside. Wonderful staff. Way better than a generic hotel. A walk to nice bars & restaurants.
Just be aware it's near a highway.
Location close to little italy, staff realy really kind and helpfull, delicious breakfest, very clean. Excelent.
Parking, one block not bad
