It's a great place in DC. clean and easily accessible.
It would have been better if they provided meals as well.
They provided everything I needed for my stay. Great staff!
The place has a very warm ambiance. More like a home than a typical hostel. Really nice.
Under new management. Small and friendly atmosphere. Seemed like home.
Not necessarily differently-abled persons accessible.
It was a really nice place. It was near bus routes and metro station.
The place was just okay, check out process was good because you don't need to return your key, you can just leave.
The room was not large and it was for 8 girls, really crowded. They don't provide change so you really need to prepare the exact amount of money to pay for your stay. It was like 10 minutes walk from the subway station, it's a bit far from the centre of DC.
Everything from room prices to rules. Only 2 bathrooms in the entire house!!! U hv to wait forever in a queue. Even the nearest grocery shop is 1 km far n that is organic! Expensive. Hostel dsnt give u even tea n coffee. Its not allowed to eat or drink even tea or coffee in rooms! U hv to take off ur shoes near the main door n walk to room n other areas barefeet. V.dangerous old staircase that needs repairs.
Best hostel I've been to in DC! The staff there were great. The hostel was just minutes from the metro station.
Very clean and well managed. Best priced hostel in DC.
Everything was clean and organized. The house had a wonderful atmosphere and everyone was just so friendly. Best time I had in DC!
I met some nice people (but not traveller - they live there for e few months)
really bad neighborhood - far away from anything - toooo expensive (25-30$ would be ok) - dirty rooms (the hostel "capital view" is much better ... for the half price)
The staff practiced elitism and racism.
I liked the friendliness of people I met at the hostel! I'm not talking about the staff though! Because they were a bit rough!
The place was in a dangerous 'kinda' neighborhood! safety was important for me since I'm a traveler and i like hanging out all the time. Didn't wanna have problems on the street.
The price is very fair and acceptable
It's a little crowded. You have to stay with other five people in the same room.
The spirit in the house... You feel more like in a flatshare than in a backpacker ! Comfy bed with a true cuilt !!!!
The manager and assistants are helpful and friendly to newly arriving travelers. The overall atmosphere is easygoing. The location is a short walk from several small grocery shops and convenience stores like CVS and 7 -11. There are also fast food and take out restaurants in the vicinity. A DC metro station is a 5 - 10 minute walk away depending on your route and speed which connects you to almost all the DC attractions and the train stations / airport. It is a good value and location for a budget conscious traveler and a you have the opportunity to meet other guests from different locations. I would stay there again.
The 4 bathrooms get used by several guests. They are cleaned daily but still could benefit from being monitored a bit more frequently.
I like the ambiance and guests cooperation.
A bit far to the downton but you can take metro. No exchange money for paying cash.
Couldn't offer decent maps for a traveller with no idea.
Wireless should be better
Tamara the manager is absolutely amazing, she made me feel like I was at home. I originally planned on staying for 2 weeks. I've decided to take advantage of loftstels long term option. I will be staying Here for 6 months. I'm just starting school here in DC and I appreciate a clean, welcoming and friendly house mates. The Resident Assistants are awesome, and there is always some type of an event going on here.
Some of the short term guest were giving the manager Tamara a hard time, because she enforces the house rules
The hostel was very clean and the people were friendly. Many people were staying long-term and were happy to share advice about where to go, etc. If you are staying long-term it would be a great place since you can wash laundry there and have a quiet place to study. They have strict rules about cleaning dishes, quiet hours after midnight, no drinking/smoking inside, which made it a very nice place to sleep (but it isn't a party hostel if that is what you are looking for).
I thought breakfast was included--I'm pretty sure it said as much on the website--but that is definitely not the case. You have to bring your own food and your own lock if you would like a locker.
Overall condition was good
Staff noise in the lounge No alcohol allowed
too noise and overloaded
Clean, separate rooms for quiet and social things, a bit far from the center
It is an actual dormitory, where people live permanently. So when you arrive you have no space where to put your stuff at all. The main problem is that you have to have your own lock for the locker to close it. A lock is a rare thing to carry around while travelling unless you are in India. I chose this hostel for the lockers (no locks needed mentioned at booking or their website), although there were cheaper variants near the center where it was honestly mentioned that they have lockers and the locks are needed.
