We had a safe and peaceful stay. Staff are helpful , pleasant and efficient. A centralised location and easy access to a lot of places in Washington DC just be walking. The whole hotel is too dimly lit. A bright and cheery coat of paint will brighten up the whole place. The floor creeks. |

Rooms are old, however well equipped, and very comfortable. Doorman and Elevator man were very helpful. Front desk staff were friendly, however not very knowledgeable. |

We enjoyed the staff- elevator operators very friendly and helpful. Head waiter in evening very nice- . We like the location and the "apartment feel" to the room. Enjoyed the decor. We stayed in the King Suite and the master suite's mattress was very good but the pull out bed was very uncomfortable for my daughters (ages 22 and 19). Consider putting a pillow top on or replacing the sofa with a better mattress. We liked the fridge but would have liked a small microwave as well.- Kitchenette was pretty useless. |

Quiet room (as requested) at the rear of the hotel. Efficient and friendly staff. Good location, close to buses and metro stations. |

the bed was most comfortable, and there were plenty of lights in many places in the room. The staff was the vest, most friendly, helpful. Loved the location. |

Pretty good location. Generally nice place, with a certain old world charm. Good value for what we paid. Would recommend it. The bed was a bit on the soft side, for anyone with a weak back. Breakfast a bit slow & pricey, but loads of alternarive eateries within easy walking distance for breakfast |

This was a beautifully decorated comfortable hotel, full of character and excellent value for money. It was close to The White House and the Mall and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. My brother had a problem with the toilet in his room and it was attended to immediately. I would definitely stay here again if I visited Washington and have already recommended it to others. |

Historic hotel with lots of charm, ideally located between Georgetown and the Mall. The sofa bed in the King Suite was extraordinarily uncomfortable -- not suitable for overnight sleeping. |

The room was large and clean and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and the location of the hotel is good. The building is quite old, but the room was clean so it did not bother us. |

The stafff is very friendly and helpful, except as noted below. the rooms are spacious and very clean and the hotel is a virtual museum of lovely asian art and furniture. Very convenient for sightseeing -- you can walk anywhere! The front desk personal are less than friendly and not very helpful. |

I feel realy welcom, and all the staff were very kind to me, from the cleaning lady, to the elevator men, and the reception. The room was good and clean, and the hotel was in the centre whats important for me. I didn't like the airco, but after one night I realize that I can put it out, but that was not realy a problem, but what I missed that there were no computers for the guests, the receptionist was so kind to try reservate mine ticket for mine way to home (what didn,t succeed ) so I had to go to Kinko that was not realy a problem because it was close to the hotel but this time I think its resonble... |

We liked the location; within walking distance of all sightseeing attractions, near to bus stop and metro. The hotel is cosy, the rooms very spacious and comfortable; ; the staff friendly. The elevator still manually operated! Very good value for money; rates vary depending on date and availability. We liked it all; highly recommendable! |

Large room, old feel but well kept. Simply good feeling to be able to move around with squeezing past things. Staff are good and helpful The room and hall lighting is too low, its gloomy, be proud, show it off, don't hide it in half light. |

Room was spacious and excellent - we even had a separate kitchenette and dressing area. Room looked straight out into offices though so no view or privacy. Beds were very comfortable. Reception staff didn't seem very knowledgeable when I asked about transport to local landmarks plus it seemed like we were an inconvenience to them when checking in and out. |

The location - it was within walking distance to all major places of interest. The style of the hotel - small and intimate. The room - we had a suite and it was a nice size and at what I thought was a reasonable rate. The elevator was very slow. We took the stairs every time except for when we first checked in. |

The location, which was just 3 blocks from the White House. The room had tasteful original furnishings and lovely artwork. Despite being on Pennsylvania Avenue, the room was quiet. The price increased considerably for the Easter weekend but given the location, this was acceptable. |

We liked the uniqueness of it like the fact there was a lift operator. The staff were very attentive and helpful and helped us check in for our flight home since there was not a guest computer available. We found the breakfast and room service very expensive. |

It is near the most attractions of the city. Old construction with thin walls. Amateur staff. Expensive. |
