The breakfast was very good. I liked that the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. It's a 40 minute ride to Port Authority (cost 4$ -one way), which is two blocks away from Times Square. The room is very big and comfortable. It is a good alternative if you can't afford Manhattan. If you want a good place to sleep it's OK, if you want something more...
First of all if you land on JFK nobody knows were this hotel is and how to get there. So, if you want to take a cab it's about 170-180$, or you can take the bus that takes you to Port Authority (32$) and from there you take the 320 bus to the hotel (4$). From the Newark airport the taxi is about 55$, or the hotel's shuttle can take you to the train station and the ticket is about 20$. The hotel staff is not very helpful. One of the elevators wasn't working when we stayed the first time, and when we came back 6 days later it was the same. The pool and the fittnes area are a joke.
Travelled november 2014 with friends. Staff was perfect Eileen made it memorable! Breakfast was included and excellent! Shuttle & bus. Right in front!! Free parking & wifi!!! Loved it
There's a bus stop in front of the hotel that is the best and fluent connection for Manhattan that you can find in the area. The best and cheap solution for travellers that don't wanna stay in the city and need a long-term parking to leave the rental car
Wi-Fi connection in the room doesn't work well as in the hotel hall
Great location could see empire state building from room, fridge and microwave included breakfast buffet was amazing
Slow service by maitre d, not enough shampoo and body wash supplied, no sheets or blanket supplied for pull out couch. No free shuttle
THE LOCATION IS GREAT .... YOU SCTUALLY HAVE EVERYRHING YOU NEED JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY ..... or the hotels shuttle which actually takes you where you wish to go and brings you back ... AL ARE VERY NICE AND HELPFULL .... ILEENE, front desk supervisor is THE SWEETEST ON EARTH ..... THE AREA IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL ....... for me, as i have been so many times in NEW YORK and i was sure it is the best, SECAUCUS was a lovely surprise ..... ... NO DOUPT I WILL COME VISIT .... SOON ......
THE HOTEL IS how should i put it gently ??? well ... it's the UGLIEST hotel i've ever been in ...... don't know why but it is like they had made all the bad decisions about decorating ...... .... GIVE ME 10 DAYS AND A NICE BUDGET AND I WOULD TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN AND MAKE IT AMAZING ....... ........ ......
Linen , towels worn
dirty air vents full of dust, bad for allergy sufferers. beds were lumpy. TOWELS..OMG...REALLY...VERY OLD. More like car rags
Excellent location with bus stop outside,15-30mins into Manhattan depending on traffic. Fab view from our room. Plentiful breakfast, all you can eat,and some.... Cafés and restaurants close, free bus within 3miles if you wanted. Friendly and helpful staff. Tea and coffee in lobby 24/7 Good pool, never busy.
1 lift out of order, petty really but it was a pain. Plastic cutlery at breakfast. A little dated. No food at night except order in,can't comment on that as didn't use. Poorly stocked bar and deserted?? Where did all the guests go?
Nice staff Good price Best free breakfast in the US so far Large room Shuttle service to the neighbourhood Nice neighbourhood 8$ (round trip) bus stop to NYC
Hotel is worn off Noisy highway Only one elevator worked the whole week Internet usually not working from room
The location is really good. There is a bus 320 to go to New York for only 20 minute. It's very convenient. And there are a lot of good restaurants and shopping mall. The breakfast is not bad.
The utility is so old
Good Breakfast, lobby, and staff
Room was a little run down and needed to be remodeled. mainly little things like toilet seat would not stay up, beds were getting old, hide-a-bed was uncomfortable (more than usual)
We like every thing almost as family .
Staff is less on front desk and in morning breakfast which is good enough for all type guests but still they make packs of / plates of food and carry up to rooms which is not good . They can eat as much as they like but they must not allowed to carry food. 2ndly dogs must not be allowed and if you want keep separate escalator for guests having pets with them .
Location, location, location; staff was great, breakfast was good, access to NYC was easy.
furniture a little worn, carpet stained
On the positive side, we were not charged for the first night and the rest of our stay we had a clean room. We also have noticed improvements in breakfast choices.
In spite of requesting a non-smoking room we were placed in a smoking room. Regardless of our immediate complains we had to spend the first night in this smoky and rather dirty room.
The view of Manhattan
Carpet that made you for get the view of Manhattan.
The room was a good size and good breakfast buffet.
The pool is not heated although it's sold as a heated pool in the hotel description. Impossible to swim in as the water is way too cold.
Easy commute by bus from NJ to NYC
Good location for daily trip to the City. Bus Stop directly outside the hotel.
Stains on carpet
I booked a king bed room and a room with two double beds. When I arrived they said they over booked and gave me two double bed rooms but still charged me for the more expensive king bed room. When I talked to the woman at the front desk at check in she said she couldn't help me with it. The rooms were alittle run down too. I'm not normally one to complain but I wouldn't recommend this hotel and won't be returning in the future.
I booked a 'non-smoking room' but the room had an ash try and you could smell cigarette smoke on the floor.
The location is very save even during the night. You can get a bus right in front the hotel to Times Square. The last bus back to the hotel is 2am and price is $3,50 each way. It's a 40 minutes ride.
The queen mattress seems that it's time to be changed. It throws you to the center during the night.
Dear la Quinta; I did not stay in la quinta and I cancelled my reservation the day before arrival time; fro some reason I was charged thruogh my credit card; If you want to refund my money would be fine, otherwise I am glad to take the lose.
