The kitchen was great! and the woman who appeared to be running the place was so welcoming and lovely. She made everything, even our exit, a very positive experience.
Enjoyed my stay here-location, prices and free wifi are excellent. Highly recommend this San Diego hostel and would stay again myself for sure.
Nothing I could criticise this establishment for
Close to gaslamp and trolleys
Music loud util 11pm
My room (less than half the price of the discounted conference rate I was offered at nearby hotels) was lovely: closet with hangers, little refrigerator, ceiling fan, double bed. Much nicer than the narrow cell I expected. Never had to wait for a free shower (in separate rooms, not stalls in a larger bathroom). The hostel had quite a bit of free food on offer, but I didn't have time to partake of it.
I left an item in the room, remembered it an hour later and was told they couldn't find it. Upon insisting, they discovered it. When I went to pick it up, it took the staff another ten minutes to search all over and find it in their offices. I had to show the guy at the desk the email stating it would be there and convince him to look about. Not a big problem, but they could improve their protocol for left belongings.
Hostel is awesome. It's located downtown that allows you not to use public transport often. We stayed in a private room with good city view, room was clean and comfortable. Staff was really responsive and it was great to meet russian girl Anna at the front desk, cause she gave us a lot of information about the sights. Big plus are free breakfasts and sometimes dinner!
friendly staff, long breakfast time (7-10:30), lively environment, walking distance to good eats and bars
noisy with radio playing outside the halls (which adds a festive mood) and hearing loud footsteps in the hallways continuously, even with the earplugs they offer in the front desk.
Lucky D's Hostel is at amazing location where the heart of San Diego is. All of the crew working there are sooooo kind and they help and show their hospitality all the time. Michael was also a great guide who took me all over the city and showed me the attractions around the city. I think you should stay there when you plan to visit San Diego.
Staff was nice and helpful. Location was perfect for bar hopping in Gas Lamp.
I had to cancel my reservation day of because I couldn't find over night parking in an area I was comfortable leaving my car. The free parking referenced on the website was tent city (a ton of homeless) by 1 in the afternoon. The staff was nice, the location was perfect but I can't comment on anything else.
Very good location and friendly stuff.
The breakfast is not that much attractive. But for youth hostel I do not expect too much
- Friendly staff. - Free breakfast. Not the best but still. - really close to the gas lamp quarter.
- Tiny rooms, got smelly during the night. No real place for bags. - Squeaky beds. Hard to go to bed late and be quiet. Everyone in the dorm woke up. But on the other hand, it's a hostel so you'd have to live with that. - wifi didn't work so good. - beds not that comfy. - overpriced for what I felt like I got. I've shared hotel rooms for less then what I payed for a bed in a dorm here.
Discount tickets to SeaWorld and the zoo. Close to public transportation. Free breakfast and some nights free dinner. Key card access to the front door and each room.
This building is 4 levels and no elevator. Water pressure is kind of low on the 4th floor.
Great location and price. Friendly staff and sociable environment.
Toilets could be more pleasant.
Great location, friendly staff and good value for money.
Nice people, very well located.
Lot of noise on the street, and from the bar situated under the Hostel. Not very nice when you have to work... Or maybe ask for a room in the back.
I q as awake at around 7am by workers in my window in the 4th floor. People didn't tell me they were working on that part of the building.
Good location, easy in and out around town
The staff didn't explain much about the hostel, for instance they pre sheet the beds and all rooms look very lived in, I couldn't tell which beds was clean or being used
Atmosphere. Close to good food.
Smell in the room
location decoration in the hostel is very original
the staff was always drunk and rude
The View , the other Guests .
They Cancelled my opportunity to extend, Unexpectedly and inconveniently, (due i guess to foul political play on the part of an organized crime syndicate, i perceive).
nice staff every night party three avenues form the bars and clubs away
Great location, good atmosphere, helpful staff, free tacos - everything you need in a good hostel.
The weather was really hot, which of course is not the hostel's fault, but there wasn't much ventillation inside the building which didn't help :)
location staff friendly environment
no air condition - means 86 °F in the room during the night, almost no possible to sleep
The hostel delivers the more important, a good san diego experience due to its location n its spirit with a good staff
Only two showers n toilets by stair, that means, two showers for 20 rooms +. So u got to wait to take shower or wake up early. Room very hot, no aircon neither good fan in my room
Staff, wifi, location
The rooms get very hot in the summer
It is on a good location. The bus stop is right there. The staff is okay no problem. Lock my key inside the locker was taken care of. Will stay at lucky D's again. The provided breakfast everyday. Dinner some days. I do have my organic food but use their milk which was provided every morning to put in my oakmeal or on my cereal.
Can be nosiy some times at night but other than that it is a good place for the price.
