Front of the house staff - pretty awful. Reception, waiter...ugh. Second rate and uncaring. Maybe the service is better for white, blonde yoginis with no body fat, but for me (not falling into any of those categories), interactions with front of house were rude and shallow.
- Embarrassingly bad food. Not sure the story with that. Better they spent on the money on grounds than on ingredients, so although disappointing, not a mood killer.
- Sound carries because it's practically an eco resort with a lot of open space. Really wonderful, except at night when people are talking late into the night and you can hear everything. Walls are thin and there's no background machinery humming and droning (like AC) to hide voices. Not a problem for me (although talking guests often woke me up from a deep sleep), but important to note.
Hotel operations (back of house) are above average. I've stayed at hotels all over the world (often overstaffed with obsequious servants) yet this hotel was the best run operationally that I've ever experienced. Exceptional, genuinely friendly operations staff (maintenance, cleaners, chef) and very clean immaculate property on EVERY LEVEL (including the out of the way bathroom for the backup jacuzzi).
Love all the touches:
- Clean, clean, clean.
- No air conditioning, no phones, no TV's. Leads to a special experience and the lavish grounds give you time to reflect and bathe in your good luck!
-Visited in the off season, so it was sparsely populated.
