Hotel full of charm. Good access to bus routes to explore the city. New Fillmore and Japantown nearby
I like everything. I loved how big the room was. AMAZING.
One thing I didn't like was there wasn't no A/C but at night you can open the windows open and it will get cold... But I prefer A/C.
Victorian Character. Location
Much of the staff is surly and unfriendly. I have told them this to their faces. They do not seem to care. The onsight manager is the worst offender. He also waits tables at the restaurant: he is one reason I avoid the restaurant. The newer staff i much better but they seem to get driven off: there is a lot of turnover
Where else do you bump into the mayor having breakfast. This hotel rocks with the best valet and front desk guys to help you enjoy this fab city
The hotel is very great for the price and the restaurant has good food, but is a bit pricey.
There is old school charm and then there is just old and uncomfortable. Showering in the old tubs is not ideal as you feel very closed in.
It was very noisy mainly from the people upstairs it sounded like a herd of elephants at 1am when they came in above me. The refrigerator was also noisy.
The cleanliness and location of hotel
the bed was hard and parking fee is too high.
Wanted $200 deposit Bar restaurant not open Sun / Mon Debited charge against my card without consultation
Breakfast (tough not included) Facilities and friendliness of personnel Concierge was very helpful Furniture classy
Location (quite remote) Car parking quite pricey
Small, but exactly what I needed. Nothing too overboard.
Very little noise at night except from the street
Shower curtain over clawfoot tub kept blowing inwards and sticking to body-absolutely awful!!! Bathroom window kept closing-would not stay open
The location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing.
The service was poor, room was shabby, chipped porcelin in the bathroom and not very clean, dirty curtains, peeling wallpaper. Nothing Chic about this hotel.
Huge rooms with vintage furnishings. Surrounded by great public transportation, including the California St cable car line. Friendly, helpful staff, and a great bar downstairs.
I loved the character details - super comfortable four-poster bed, free-standing bath, floral wallpaper. There was also free WiFi, TV, radio (alarm) and a small fridge.
Even on the fourth floor, the single glazing meant there was some noise from the street. I would also have liked tea/coffee-making facilities in the room, although the staff were always happy to provide a thermos of hot water when I asked for it.
Very nice old building.
Unhelpful staff. Hotel stank like stale wee. The room was filthy. Booked 3 nights but left after 1 and only stayed for that because we arrived late in the evening. The man on the front desk was very rude and barely spoke or made eye contact. No drinks making facilities in the room and nowhere else to get a coffee from on the night. Simply awful place.
Nice staff, very helpfull.
The hotel is furnished with old materials which can be beautiful But i found it a bit dusty and dark, although everything was clean. Bathroom was outdated
Loved all the original brass hardware nd fixtures mixed w newly renovated bathrooms. Bartender was a blast nd very accommodating when I arrived late w my kids for a nightcap
Some of the furniture needed a lil tlc. Also was disappointed that the bar wasn't open for a beer nd sandwich when returning from a long day on Sunday
One of the employees was very nice and welcoming
Very old hotel (1903), good for people who like vintage, not so good for who don't appreciate it so much like me...
Absolutely beautiful and the staff were so helpful with our tour of San Francisco. I wod definitely stay there anytime I visit!!!
Nice room, bathrobes, clawfoot tub was delightful and excellent bed
A bit noisy from staff outside in the alley talking and hanging out with my windows open because the room was warm...plus they smoked and the smell came right up into my room
Bed, Bathroom, housekeeping, The goodie basket for convenience.
1. The smell of the wood. 2. The thermostat did not work properly and old. 3. carpet had stains from the past. 4. No microwave - even in a hotel at a remote Kansas they have that- even in cheap hotels. 5. The staff members did not explain what is complimentary and what not. 6. The goodie basket was placed convenience thats good but they mentioned to go ahead and enjoy and would be replaced everyday. But never mentioned that it was not complimentary. If it was not complimentary it should be specified clearly.
The Majestic is a beautiful old San Francisco Victorian yet it had all of the modern amenities that I enjoy. It is a little off the beaten path, but downtown and the Civic Center are walkable. Breakfast in the restaurant was perfection...gorgeous dining room, good food and friendly staff.
Near California street cable car, gets you anywhere Near Japan city, van ness, eating facilities Nice, clean and spacious room and bathroom, safe
Shower water could have been more warm.
It had character
Unfortunately, the food was horrible. You know the kind of dry tasteless chicken you get from a caterer. This was worst. The Salmon Benedict the following morning was overly salty. The food was of such poor quality and service that it over shined the character of the hotel.
