We really liked the location, a short walk takes you to Japantown and lots of shops/ restaurants in Pacific Heights. It's a nice alternative to the hustle of Union Square, although if you do want to go there public transport is very accessible.Free wi-fi. Staff were friendly(ish).
We were sent to the wrong room at the start and were able to gain access to it. There was no air conditioning in the hotel, it was not that hot when we went as it was Sept/ Oct however we still found it very difficult to get to sleep at night. They did give us a fan, but it just circulated the warm air. It was also very noisy, our room faced the intersection so traffic in the morning was v.busy and there were also roadworks outside. There is a bit of a smell in the hotel, even when we got home we could smell it off our clothes etc. There are no tea/ coffee making facilities in the rooms. Also the electricals seemed a little dodgy, sockets were not very secure, lights flickered when you used the hairdryer.
the tiny little beds were bad could not sleep with my wife
We got to stay in a suite which was quite roomy. Liked the high ceiling. The bed was a bit high off the floor. No ac but the room was comfortable enough with the ceiling fan and windows open.
Entry is not at ground level so you have to navigate about 8 steps to get to the front desk.
The retro sytle of this hotel was lovely the rooms was clean the staff was very helpful. the location was spot on for route 101 which is one of the main roads through San Fran for catching the local buses. China town, and the famous piers is just a 10 minute bus ride. If you catch the buses keep your tickets you can re use then within a set period of time.
Parking, the valet parking was available at 35 US dollars per night, parking in the streets was hit and miss to find a space, local parking lots was available at $25 per night. There was no coffee making facilities in the rooms, coffee was only available after 10.30 am in the lobby on the evening this was changed for lemonade and white wine splitzers. there is no air con for any of the rooms which would be a problem in the hot weather, however in October it was okay you can always open the windows.
Staff was excellent and friendly
Room was consistently hot from the sun
Ambience is great. The rooms are adorable. My sister is a resident of Vintage Coventry which is next door to the hotel. That made it perfect for us. The food at the restaurant was very good. A really enjoyable stay.
Pillows were too hard. We were there in unseasonable hot weather and the room didn't cool down enough at night with the window air conditioner.also bathroom shower was not easy to use.
The older style.
No aircon. However I was told this is not allowed due to San Fran rules and regs.
This hotel was lovely and clean with very attentive and knowledgeable staff. The decor is in keeping with the Edwardian period, large armoire and armchair in our large double room along, with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. It had a large canopy over the top too. Had a nice bathroom with a free standing claw foot bathtub which I've only ever seen I museums before! Was thrilled to actually use one. Wifi speed and connection was good, no problems at all We only ate here on our last day. Food was amazing and well priced and we all wished we'd tried other meals there. I would recommend this hotel to others and would love to stay there again
There was no air conditioning in the hotel. Not a huge problem because the windows allowed cool air to circulate
Room and bathroom size was great.
The staff weren't very pleasant to deal with.
The staff was very accommodating.
Everything is worn out. Smells bad, holes in furniture, dust and dirt everywhere, no air conditioning, open windows are a hazard (nothing to stop you from falling to the street), TERRIBLE food, rooms are way over priced, $35.00 per day parking fee for guests and lots more!!!
I loved everything about this hotel. I don't know where to begin. I read all of the reviews of this hotel before I booked & can honestly disspell any & all negative feedback... based on my experiences there. Our stay was 6 nights. We booked room 307 the Cyril Magnin Suite, It was divine. Brand new upholstery on the furniture, beautiful bay window & excellent bath with a marble tub enclosure with a built in marble bench. No clawfoot tub, although we did see a few room that had them. That's OK~ I have a claw foot tub at home. Our suite did not have air conditioning and it was a record breaking heat weekend. The breeze from the open bay windows was perfect for sleeping. The room was huge, clean & comfortable. The staff~ from check in to wait staff to owner to housekeeping were all outstanding. Everyone was very friendly~ not overly~ but very friendly. We were greeted by all when coming & going. The bellman met us at the car upon arrival and unloaded all of our luggage and took it upstairs to our rooms. We were traveling with another couple and there was alot of luggage! Other reviewers have commented on the slow elevators. This is a five story hotel. We were on the third floor. Nver waited more than one minute for an elevator and it was a 10 second ride to the lobby. You hit the L Floor button and then the close elevator button & 10 seconds later you are in the lobby. I do not consider that to be too slow. Plus the elevator is just so fun to look at. Whimsical paintings inside. Really fun! Others have already commented on Mike~ the best Barkeep around. He was amazing! made his own simple syrups~ by the drink~ and could concoct anything you wanrted. I introduced myself to him when we first arrived and asked where we could get great wines for our room. He directed us to Bev Mo! a long three block walk~ but worth it. Bev Mo! has an outsanding selection of wine, liquor & a full aray of yummy snacks & cheeses & deli meats.
Not a thing
The Hotel doesn't have ar conditioner inside the room, but the bad smell inside the room was worst. Never mind what's happening there but I never hated so much a place.
Location was great for where I needed to be to access places and public transportation. Neighborhood seemed good.
First night I had to hunt for the waiter at the dining room. A fan in the room would have been good since there is no air conditioning.
Closed to the city center.
Breakfast was well prepared and the price excellent. Quaint is the way I would describe the hotel. Great for one night stay if you enjoy an historic building. Five floors one elevator, but is did seem to respond well.
No air conditioning and while you could leave the windows open, the street noise but too load. Internet keep dropping the connection. Our junior suite had only a shower stall, no tub. Only a pedestal sink. No counter. Allot of wear and tear on the furniture. Room service or concierge service none existent. When we asked them to recommend or reserve a theater reservation, we were told to call ourselves. Often we would go to the lobby to find that nobody was there. Location required taxi or bus service to the main tourist areas. Taxi about $17.00 with tip to Fisherman wharf. No coffee makers in the room. Coffee was available staring at 0700 in the lobby for free. Nothing prior to that. $3.00 if you ordered it in the dining room. For the price we expected many more amenities. The character of the hotel did not make up for the lack of amenities. Would never stay again.
Noisy due to street repair.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Majestic. The staff were helpful to us, some truly went out of their way to assist us. The Hotel is old and has history which added to its charm. Our view from 4th story room was amazing. We were upgraded due to a booking error and we were satisfied as to how it was handled. We would go back without any hesitation. Hotel Majestic was the perfect place for us and helped make our trip to San Francisco positively memorable.
We don't ever like to complain, however the road work below our room was very noisy. Of course that would be finished so it would not be a constant problem. Our room was a little too warm during the morning, I'm sure we could have asked for a fan, but we truly did not spend too much time in the room. When we returned after a day of enjoying the sights, the room was nice and cool.
The hotel restaurant had good food with excellent presentation. The public areas had comfortable, relaxing seating areas. good wifi.
There was no in-room coffeemaker.
my parents, who travelled with us had to change the room because there room was definifely too small and smells bad
Me and my MF stayed here and we loved the historical feel of this hotel. The room was huge and was comfortable.
My MF and I may have had a super natural experience here some lights were flickering on and off and I had the worst nightmares of my life, I think they had bugs too because we both had bites all over us the next morning.
Hotel Majestic has a great history and has been restored to ultimate splendor. The rooms are charming with fabulous furniture pieces. The bed is delightful. Bathrooms are unique, yet large. It's great to have a window that opens in the bathroom. This hotel is within walking distance of lots of shopping, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Plus, it is safe!
I sadly did not spend enough time here. I'm looking forward to the next visit.
Internet speed was good
The bath tub was too small. The shower curtains are so close to your body that they stick to you body while you are taking a shower No natural light.
Decor was beautiful! Dining room also lovely
Staff was somewhat inattentive - waiting for our check at breakfast, I found them chatting at the front desk
A mistake between the hotel and Booking.Com so that when we arrived the hotel had our room booking but did not know of our requirement for a room with required beds for us and our daughter. We were given quite possibly the smallest room in the hotel. Fortunately the hotel porter was excellent and helped us move the furniture around to make space for a fold out bed. We were told by the hotel they had no other room but when we cancelled the remainder of our stay and announced that next day we would leave, the hotel manager offered us another room. We contacted Booking.Com to complain and asked for compensation. We were offered 25$ but have not received it. I have written to Booking.Com to ask that when we, the customer, specify number of occupants per room, then they a) only offer rooms to match this number and b) make sure the hotels comply. Not a happy customer.
