That its very quiet at night
That sutter st. Is very famous and easy to walk to any place
There were no coffee or tea in the room or anywhere. The bed wasn't comfortable. The airport suttle I took from the hotel via the lobby were terrible, the driver was rude, delayed at every hotel we stopped, and yelled at me.
I loved staying in a live peace of preserved history. The staff was very kind and it was agreat deal for the money I paid. Located in a very nice and 'safe feeling' earea.
internet sucks.....basically the wifi doesn't work at all in room, even you sit in the lobby to access wifi，the speed is super slow like back to ancient times! Sound protection is super poor....everyday I'm suffering from v lound stepping sound from upstairs from late in the evening until dawn, never had a quiet moment!!! The hotel is under renovation changing carpet etc, half of my stay in the hotel was totally ruined by it....the smell, the noise etc from very early in the morning like 6am, geeez! Last but not least, it's close to nowhere!!!! No restaurants, no supermarket nearby. You have to take buses everywhere......nothing within walking distance!
staff is okay Room is spacious
Slow WiFi was a hinders ex for me and my colleagues
The brightness of my room. The hotel is old but has been brightened by new carpet and wallpaper...great neighborhood. For walking and dining.
- Staff wasn't nice - Hotel looked old, dark, dusty - Wifi was there, connection not strong enough to make a phone call - Breakfast not included
It's a good location. Near downtown and few blocks away from Polk street (great cafes) and Japantown
very old hotel，no air conditioner!!
The WiFi was very wobbly, too little plugs in the room and it's all a bit rusty. Worst showers ever.
The location towards the city and the staff are great,
Michael the bartender in the Butterfly lounge is awesome.
Architecture, cool bar, room decor, staff
Hotel full of charm. Good access to bus routes to explore the city. New Fillmore and Japantown nearby
One thing I didn't like was there wasn't no A/C but at night you can open the windows open and it will get cold... But I prefer A/C.
I like everything. I loved how big the room was. AMAZING.
Much of the staff is surly and unfriendly. I have told them this to their faces. They do not seem to care. The onsight manager is the worst offender. He also waits tables at the restaurant: he is one reason I avoid the restaurant. The newer staff i much better but they seem to get driven off: there is a lot of turnover
Victorian Character. Location
Where else do you bump into the mayor having breakfast. This hotel rocks with the best valet and front desk guys to help you enjoy this fab city
There is old school charm and then there is just old and uncomfortable. Showering in the old tubs is not ideal as you feel very closed in.
The hotel is very great for the price and the restaurant has good food, but is a bit pricey.
It was very noisy mainly from the people upstairs it sounded like a herd of elephants at 1am when they came in above me. The refrigerator was also noisy.
the bed was hard and parking fee is too high.
The cleanliness and location of hotel
Wanted $200 deposit Bar restaurant not open Sun / Mon Debited charge against my card without consultation
Location (quite remote) Car parking quite pricey
Breakfast (tough not included) Facilities and friendliness of personnel Concierge was very helpful Furniture classy
Small, but exactly what I needed. Nothing too overboard.
Shower curtain over clawfoot tub kept blowing inwards and sticking to body-absolutely awful!!! Bathroom window kept closing-would not stay open
Very little noise at night except from the street
The service was poor, room was shabby, chipped porcelin in the bathroom and not very clean, dirty curtains, peeling wallpaper. Nothing Chic about this hotel.
The location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing.
Huge rooms with vintage furnishings. Surrounded by great public transportation, including the California St cable car line. Friendly, helpful staff, and a great bar downstairs.
Even on the fourth floor, the single glazing meant there was some noise from the street. I would also have liked tea/coffee-making facilities in the room, although the staff were always happy to provide a thermos of hot water when I asked for it.
I loved the character details - super comfortable four-poster bed, free-standing bath, floral wallpaper. There was also free WiFi, TV, radio (alarm) and a small fridge.
Unhelpful staff. Hotel stank like stale wee. The room was filthy. Booked 3 nights but left after 1 and only stayed for that because we arrived late in the evening. The man on the front desk was very rude and barely spoke or made eye contact. No drinks making facilities in the room and nowhere else to get a coffee from on the night. Simply awful place.
Very nice old building.
