The toilet did not flush, there was only one chair to sit on at the table meant for eating, no towel racks and wifi did not work in cottage. Coffe was not available in morning- coffee maker broke.
Access to the public beach, but had to drive to it, its not just across the street as advertised.
Was not aware of the outside bathroom, see thru door between room and outside shower. Bed was very hard and squeaky.
Run down, lack of security, smoke alarm had been removed, NO immenities at all, not even a clock. Felt that nothing in the cottage was really cleaned. Would not recommend facility to anyone.
Nice location, quaint cottages, kitchenette was a nice touch.
Pleasant spot. We were in unit #1, which is an old trailer home. Quirky, but it was alright.
The trailer is old, and we were afraid if breaking it.
Friendly atmosphere. Outside bath & shower was unique.
Take pets. Good area to walk dog(s). Marathon has some restaurants that you can bring dogs plus a wonderful dig friendly beach!
Place was purchased as a short sale & looks it. Shabby furniture, horrible bed, dinky shower with little water pressure, dark & dingy cottages.
The location on the Keys is great! Approximately 1/2 way down, the cottages are rustic but comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and informative about the things to do and see in the Keys. Got a lesson about lizards ( he was a big one). Tiki hut outside with comfortable seats to have coffee in the morning.
Very quaint and represents the early keys style of living.
Would have liked a microwave and box of Kleenex, but mostly you need to supply ice for guests. Get that dam thing fixed already.
Great location and staff. The other cottages looked great from the outside and seemed to be good. Just make sure you know which one you are getting!
Paid 300 for one night on New Year's Eve and the cottage we got had the shower OUTSIDE! My boyfriend thought it was cool, but it made me VERY uncomfortable (despite the tall fence to keep out onlookers). The cottage was cool looking but very old and in major need of some sort of remodel. The bed was super hard and felt like one of the cheapo ones you get at a discount store. The other rooms appeared to have their facilities indoors so it seems we just got the short end of the stick. If it wasn't for the lack of other hotels, the no-refund policy, and the REALLY nice staff, we would have never stayed in that room. It was cottage #8 in case anyone wants to know. I hope they fix it up because it would have been a great place to stay.
Great location, good price-quality trade off, great and lovely facilities. Staying in Key West is really expensive, so we decided to stay in Marathon (1h driving). There is wheels2go (excelent) just around the corner. Kitchent was great, microwave, fridge, cutlery, dishes. There is a patio in the middle with nice hammacs and seats, great for nighttime relax. Nice staff.
Wi-Fi was poor, signal only around the bar near the reception. At the end it was not a big deal, I just move there when nedded. I had no data plan in the US. Nothing else to mention.
Loved the cottage.
Rustic feel of the cottage was exactly what we were looking for - more a feel of the islands. Very clean, had all the amenities we need. Convenient to shopping and also place to rent bikes. Our room was exactly what we saw online.
WiFi was extremely slow. Needed to send a work file - took too long. However the goal was not to be on the computer. So not a big deal.
cute, pastel-coloured individual tiny cottages, a little away from Key West centre, but has a great diner and seafood restaurant nearby
to be fair, major construction was being undertaken, and it was raining, so messy. however " deluxe" room was an overstatement, they are basic, dated,, self-contained cottages
Location... Actually did not stay at Tropical Cottages... They had construction going on and sent us to Coconut Cay (mm51), so this survey is about Coconut Cay. The staff was pleasant.
No drinking cups, noisy springy uncomfortable bed. TV worked badly.
They made arrangements at a location not to far away.
I was not notified the site was closed for construction until I went to check in.
outside shower granddaughter thought it was Snow Whites cottage. Needs fixing up. No curtains in the back with total look in form next cottage. Locks on doors were flimsy. Felt unsafe esp with a child. Advertised with pool but had to drive to that. No actual waterfront available. Was clean. Outside of one back door smelled of sewerage.
We were in #10 and the bed was rock hard and all the springs wer sticking up into us. Also found scorpions in the room!
Location was good. Sherry was amazing and knew a lot about the Keys.
Tiki Bar is no longer open. It's there but BYO. The grounds were torn up for sewers. It was a mess and loud during the day so we didn't spend time at the resort. A disappointment that we weren't offered some type of discount or partial refund.
The cottages were clean and comfortable, except for the bed, which was very uncomfortable. The staff was as accommodating as they could be under the circumstances.
Advertised wi-fi was basically unavailable unless you wanted to sit outside away from your room. The weather was cold and windy so outside wi-fi was out of the question. The property was having new sewer lines installed and heavy equipment worked all weekend from dawn to dusk. Wish we'd known about all above before booking.
Quaint and quirky. The room was clean and comfortable and pretty. We had an outside shower which was lovely. As others have mentioned the cottages could benefit from some cosmetic work but they are fine and the fun factor of staying here was much more important for us. The location is great, it feels private but walking distance to shops etc. the staff are brilliant and very helpful
The cabin was cute, clean and private. When we got to the location we thought we didn't make a good choice but when we went inside the cabin we were satisfied.
We didn't have WiFi at the cabin you have to go by the office. We made do without.
great place to relax. Cottage was cozy. Staff was friendly but could use a refresher course on hospitality. Possibly they are just a lil laid back during off season. However, any trivial issues with my unit were unforseen, not worth mentioning and the were immediately addressed and resolved by staff. Lisa is onto of it....cute,funny,informative and a very pleasant employee. Very peaceful resort and very safe environment for solo female travelers.
I wasnt thrilled that the tiki bar only served coffee and tea during the am hours.
