I thought the room was very well thought through, with good details. Although it was small it had everything I needed. It was very clean and I liked the decor and the fittings in the bathroom.

I liked the location! The hotel was very close to the subway station (23rd and 4th) but since the weather was perfect, I could just walk. The room was kept clean and the staff were very professional and friendly. I would come back again. Overall, the lighting was very dark..it was pit black in the elevator, which felt kind of weird during the daytime. The room was also dark and shady, so it may not be right for those who plan to read or write (type?) in the room for business. What I disliked the most was the curtain. It was black-and-white striped, and reminded me of Asian funerals.

The breakfast room on 10th floor and the view of the empire state building The window in the room looked onto the air conditioning unit while the unit in our room did not work for the duration we were there.

They couldn't find my booking.com reservation despite the fact that I'd booked it 3 days earlier. Due to the 10 minute delay in resolving this, they upgraded me to a better room and gave me 2 x complimentary breakfast vouchers - I always say, mistakes are ok, but it's how they're resolved, which makes or breaks a hospitality business. The breakfast room / lounge area on the 10th floor is fantastic, even has a roof terrace with a sunbathing area, nice views over Manhattan. Sexy reception decor, attractive staff. Got the room for a steal (by nyc standards) at $199 on a Sunday night (always a cheap night). Didn't get to spend much time in the hotel as I arrived late (11pm) and had to pack and leave by about 10am the next day. The elevators are annoying - there's only two, and they are always over-utilised, taking ages. There's not much they can do about this, to be fair.

Excellent staff and great room and general location in the city. Breakfast was the only weak spot - the "buffet was light at best and not well attended" The roof deck more than made up for it for me though.

Great Lobby, love the upstairs lounge. The room was ok but small but well decorated. Window looked out to brick wall with av system below so couldn't open window - too loud. Was claustriphobic.

First class rooms and furnishings, staff more than professional - really tood The $12.50 breakfast experience wasn't up to par. Very limited in variety and not too fresh.

Even though none of my New York business contacts had heard of it, I thought the Marcel was excellent, and it turns out they have a fairly hush-hush approach to self-advertising so it's a bit of sweet secret spot. I had a huge room with a huge comfortable bed, great down pillows and duvet, and a huge view from my bed of the Empire State changing colours each night. There's a rooftop terrace for breakfast al fresco. And there's a good winebar on the ground floor, and a cool- looking nightclub under that. All for $250 per night, which is pretty good for nyc.

The hotel is at a very nice location close to all 23rd street metro stops making it easy to go anywhere in ny. The staff was really helpful whenever required. Also, the bar/restaurant of the hotel is a perfect place for dinner or a drink. Our first room was extremely small (barely 10 sq.M.) As we had to change room halfway through our stay, the heating was centrally controlled in our second room & the room was extremely hot every morning making it impossible to sleep after 7 am. In general the hotel is a good 3 star hotel but I think the same facilities and comfort can be found also in much cheaper hotels in ny.

The staff was extremely helpful, our room was clean and comfortable, and our upgrade to a room with a king-sized, very comfy bed, was greatly appreciated! Thank you, Gramercy! If our son comes back to play at the Gramercy Theatre, we will definitely stay again. It was also a nice surprise for us that our son's band stayed at your hotel as well. He was only one floor beneath us!

I was very impressed with how Hotel Marcel handled my stay. We were in a room the first night that had a broken thermostat and ended up being 80 degrees. Not only did they change our room but they gave us a substantial discount on our first night. They handled the situation very well and we would definitely stay there again.

Check-in was fast and the cleaner did a great job every morning At new years eve there was very loud noise and talking in the corridors during the whole night and drunk people in front of the entry.I Would expect from the hotel security that they try to avoid such things...

The rooms were clean. The staff would answer your questions and help out. The bathroom could be more comfortable. Water would always splash out because it was only a half plastic glass covering the shower. I called and asked about this and they said it was "european style". Then they sen a repair staff who confirmed that it was previously broken by someone who stayed there. There was no place to put my eye glasses in the bathroom or enough hangers to hang clothes and towels in the bathroom.
