The venerable Marcus Whitman Hotel is an elegant old school hotel filled with beautiful wood and a charming staff. It was a great place to stay for our short wine tasting trip as the location was centralized and the bar was excellent. Also loved the breakfast buffet includes with our room rate.
No real dislikes other than the pillows...
close to many wine tasting shops which was the reason for my friend and my visit. The staff was great about sharing the history of the building and the art gallery on the 2nd floor is a must see. Friendly and helpful staff
then breckfast the next morning could have been hotter, some of the items were on the cool side.
The restaurant was Very good. Had the best meal and wine paring was great.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable in an "old world" style but modernly appointed, the location is perfect for walking everywhere downtown, plenty of free parking and the breakfast buffet is quality and abundant.
Have done a nice job with wi-fi and flat screen TV, but still need more outlets for today's multi-device world.
Nice breakfast with lots of choices, quiet, comfortable bed. I did feel strange as a older woman traveling alone.
No iron, no closet. I opted to stay in the newer wing which was farther from the desk, lounge and restaurant, but still okay.
the entire experience. the complimentary breakfast was exceptional.
only got to stay one night. we will return.
At least five wine tasting areas within hotel. Others within two blocks!
Breakfast Buffet, wine bar, Happy Hour food, front lobby
We were placed in the newer part of the hotel, which I was unaware of until we got there. That was disappointing, since I booked it based on the historic look of the hotel. Specifically request the historic building if that is what you want - you may need to call directly as that wasn't clear on booking.com site.
Room was comfortable, Bed was good, hotel was quiet, outside of the room HVAC.
Room was generally small for the suite price demanded. Television was tiny, exhaust fan, air conditioning, etc. was noisy.
The central location. The free breakfast. The Gilcrest and Soames dispensers.
The price. The wifi was an open network and not password protected which is dangerous. No room service.
The Marc restaurant at the hotel was truly exceptional for dinner..Amazing! The staff was very professional and accommodating.
I expected the venue to be a bit more special, particularly given the price and advertising. The bed didn't have a pillow top mattress and the shower only had a partial door so the floor got all wet. The breakfast was mediocre.
Gorgeous hotel with every detail tended to. Good buffet breakfast in nice dining room. Extra courteous staff.
When booking through Booking.com I requested a room in the tower in the note section rather than a room in the west wing. To get that room at check-in I had to pay additional.
A lovely Hotel in a charming city! Everyone was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the newer addition and felt they did a nice job of keeping to the design of the main hotel. The breakfast was one of the best buffets we've had at a hotel. All and all it was a great value for the dollar. We will definitely be back.
Wonderful place to stay.
Free hot breakfast
Lounge (bar) closed way to early on weeknights.
Great location. Very nice staff. Amazing breakfast
Parking is limited
Upon checking in, I was exhausted from traveling (sale rep) and the gentleman checking me in (forgive me I can't recall his name) was wonderful. Very welcoming and friendly. He took time to answer my questions and even suggested an upgrade. I liked the offer. He is also the reason I stayed in to dine. I ate in the lounge and it was perfect. I was able to work and relax in the atmosphere. At check out Andrea was great to give advice for some last minute gifts I needed for my girls at home and a client. Very positive experience. Thanks!
Such a great restaurant but the coffee experience is lacking and doesn't fit with other offerings. A little silver pitcher of cream instead of the little single serve creamers would be better. The little creamers are fine if you offer flavors.
The breakfast was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Loved the lounge.
Prices for the main dining were a little high.
Elegant feel in lobby area - one night someone was playing piano and that was great. Front desk staff quite helpful and attentive. Nice large room was comfortable though there was a bit of traffic noise in evening but not terrible. Bed was nice -we slept very well. It's convenient to have some tasting rooms and the restaurant and the Vineyard lounge right there.
Breakfast was a tad chaotic - the coffee, coffee cups and bowls for oatmeal all ran out and it took a while to re-stock.
