This eco-friendly restored landmark hotel is in downtown San Francisco, 2 blocks from shopping at Union Square. It features a 24-hour gym, on-site dining and colorful air-conditioned rooms.

the room was big compared to other rooms.
the whole rooms smelled like mildew and musk....and after opening the windows all night, the room still smell like it. it is a very dated property and i don't know how it received 8/10 rating on here. i do not recommend this place.
Size of Room Location Friendly helpful staff
Spacious 1 bedroom Full kitchen Great for extended stay Great for families
Sofa bed dangerous for my old body - probably great for kids Doorways, bathtub not easy for walker or wheelchair
No air conditioning in any of the "suites" Unbearable heat in the rooms in the afternoons. This is an old 1960s apartment building tarted up and heavily photo shopped I would not recommend this place to anyone
Had to leave some windows open for air and street noise was loud
Bad Breakfast Food - all Processed, Wobbly Shower Floor Lining - Be careful!
The location was surprisingly good. In addition to having easy access to 101 (for getting into San Francisco), which we expected, it was also an easy walk to Corte Madera Town Center, where there were a number of quite good restaurants and shops, it was also right next door to Book Passage, which is quite likely one of the best bookstores in California. And near Brick & Bottle, which has a long and good happy hour. The suite itself has more of a kitchen than many that style themselves "suites hotels" and an adequate breakfast. The bed was good. Everything was very clean.
There was a lack of 3-prong plugs, making it hard to plug in more than one computer (and for that, I had to unplug the lamp at the computer desk). The breakfast was adequate (surprisingly good coffee, though). Hard to find a parking space when returning late at night.
love the size of rooms the new decor of rooms quality of mattress front desk staff was very friendly, polite and proffesional
the breakfast was okay. I can't say that I didnt like it, just continental breakfasts are never that great. Real cream for coffee's would be fantastic. The rooms are truly exceptional for comfort and cleanliness. I would suggest making the exterior of your awesome little hotel match the interior. I have told SO many of our friends (some who live in SanJose) about you. We asked to see the room before we checked in because the overall impression outside is a little sketchy.
Isolation is extremely bad that a louder sleeper at your next door will make your night terrible, not mentioning a drunken one! The building itself is rather basic.
Loved the grounds, although it was cool outside, the outside rooms were very warm and inviting. The staff were extremely helpful.
The only thing I could fault is that the bike machine and step machine were not working in the Gym. However there were other options and the boys loved the weights machine. Other than that the only thing I didn't like is that I couldn't stay longer!
Swimming pool, hot tub, good location, great restaurants nearby.
Being so close to freeway with noise at night,
liked the pool and hot tub close enough to Muirwoods
Bed skirt's had stains, highway noise awful, curtains frayed, carpet dirty,
Casual, friendly, reception staff very helpful.
I was stunned that in 2014 in California the hotel has NO recycle bins in the common areas (restaurant, pool, lobby) or in the rooms.
Friendly staff and we got upgraded to a very large suite with two bedrooms! Comfortable beds, plenty of space, and a kitchen. There is no AC but it wasn't needed. Nice pool area. Very convenient to Muir Woods. Although the pictures make it look a little "fancier" than it actually is, I would definitely return.
The walls are thin and there was a private party in the pool area that went on a bit into the evening. We were up anyway but the bigger problem was the room upstairs where there were little kids running around until 11:59pm and it sounded like elephants. They stopped just at midnight - when I was about to go knock on their door. I recommended to the hotel that they put people with little kids on the ground floor.
Location close to shopping center, convenient for staying close to SFC having a car. Good bargain for the price.
It seems like a place designed for regular housing condominium, converted to a hotel.
noise bed too soft
- large and very comfortable apartment - pool - position (you can enjoy San Francisco bay from a different perspective and drive through the Golden Gate again and again)
- limited equipment for breakfast
It was just as comfortable of a stay as the first time I stayed here, it was an enjoyable time
Friendly and welcoming staff. Spacious accommodation that was clean and nicely presented. Heated pool was great and so was the spa. Conveniently located close to restaurants and shops and close to the highway for continuing our journey.
Breakfast options were limited but sufficient but you may want to eat elsewhere if you're picky about taste. Had a WiFi dead spot in one room but it was manageable.
Our first comment on the room was, "Wow, these suites are huge, almost bigger than our last apartment."
There was no outlet next to the bed. Good thing I brought an extension cord for my CPAP machine.
The location near sausalito, the breakfast was good
2 room suite at very affordable price for Bay Area. Breakfast included. Laid out for family use including BBQ & lounge area, pool, etc. Relatively new furnishings.
Situated on the busiest freeway in area. Lots of road noise if windows are left open for fresh air. Parking could be a problem if hotel is full. Overflow had to use theater lot next door.
lack of air conditioning swamp cooler with NO instructions no electric outlets at beds, had to get an extension cord
helpful staff near the highway
far too high rate
